Chapter 273 — A Little Lesson in Special Powers

Years of Heartflutter Page 1 of 2

Such was Jing Yu's scheme. Simply pursuing him in reverse was utterly useless; Jing Yu was ready to give up. Even if she dressed herself up gorgeously and paraded in front of Yang Ce every day, Yang Shuoxuan would never take an interest in her.

But if she could stand at Yang Ce's side and devise strategies for him, that would make her truly useful to Yang Moyi—and that would give her a far greater chance of winning.

So for Jing Yu, today's harvest was already sufficient; there was no need to keep pestering Yang Yongjin and letting him go. The most important thing now was to get Yang Ce to attend to proper business. Only once the matter was resolved would Yang Ce be in the mood to do anything else.

More importantly, if Yang Ce smoothly resolved the Sun family affair this time, then part of the credit would certainly belong to her, Jing Yu. That way, she would have a legitimate reason to claim her reward, and getting Yang Ce to treat her to a meal would be no problem at all.

Yang Ce, Jing Yu, and Ge Xinyao walked together to the cinema exit, and by the restroom door not far off, they saw Bi Hai—currently being pestered by a girl who was demanding that Bi Hai take responsibility!

This scene caught Yang Ce, Jing Yu, and especially Ge Xinyao somewhat off guard!

Ge Xinyao's face went pale on the spot. She had previously had relations with Bi Hai's boss, Wu Tian, and in Bi Hai's heart this had always been a humiliation. Although it had never been mentioned again afterward, Ge Xinyao knew Bi Hai must still feel uncomfortable about it. That was why Ge Xinyao was always afraid Bi Hai would abandon her—especially now that Bi Hai was doing better and better, Ge Xinyao was all the more afraid he would look for other women behind her back, and so she kept an even tighter watch on him.

Fortunately, Ge Xinyao knew that to preserve her position, she could only work through Yang Cenbin's side. As long as Yang Ce backed her, she need not fear any philandering on Bi Hai's part.

So Ge Xinyao maintained a constant wife-track offensive, keeping excellent relations with Lin Yanhe, and now with the even more solid connection of Jing Yu, Ge Xinyao was even less afraid that Bi Hai would get any crooked ideas.

She was just gloating when, unexpectedly, she saw such a scene—another woman had actually run over, seized Bi Hai, and demanded he take responsibility. There was no need to think twice to know what this was about.

That was why Ge Xinyao's expression had turned incomparably ugly.

Though Ge Xinyao was furious, in front of Yang Ce and Jing Yu she could not make a scene; she could only force herself to endure it. Even with tears welling in her eyes, Ge Xinyao did not quarrel with Bi Hai.

Jing Yu had heard the words too, but she was far more level-headed than Ge Xinyao. Jing Yu carefully studied Bi Hai's expression, then the expression of the girl clutching him, and a suspicion arose in her: "Sister Xinyao, don't let your thoughts run away with you. Things may not be as complicated as they seem!"

Yang Shuoxuan did not think Bi Hai was the sort to sneak off, fool around with a girl, and then shirk responsibility. Bi Hai's affections were actually rather single-minded, though he might perhaps have a one-night stand with a prostitute or the like—that was not unbearable, and Ge Xinyao had clearly tacitly accepted it.

But for a mistress to come knocking at the door was truly a loss of face.

So Yang Juehuan's thinking was the same as Jing Yu's: hold steady for now, and wait to see the situation clearly before speaking.

Bi Hai had obviously seen Yang Ce and the others approaching as well. Encountering such a thing in front of Yang Ce made Bi Hai's face flush red at once. In the past, he would have slapped the girl twice already, but now—first, because this was a public place, and second, because Bi Hai's temper had improved greatly and he was no longer as hot-headed as before.

Even so, Bi Hai still had the urge to give the girl a beating.

"I already told you, the cinema corridor was too dark, I accidentally walked into the women's restroom, and I only took a piss—besides, you saw me, I didn't see you, so why won't you let it go?" Bi Hai was getting anxious. If the other party had not been a girl, he would have kicked her long ago: "And anyway, it was pitch black in there—how could you possibly have seen me?"

It was just that at this moment he was indeed somewhat in the wrong, which was why he forced himself to argue back; otherwise, if he really did hit someone and drew the security guards over, then he truly would not be able to talk his way out of it.

Bi Hai's words were in fact also meant for Yang Ce and Ge Xinyao, to keep them from misunderstanding—and indeed, after hearing them, Ge Xinyao's expression was no longer so ugly.

"How could I not have seen?" The girl stuck out her neck: "I saw it—you were wearing blue plaid underpants. I could report you for indecent exposure!"

If one heard only Bi Hai's side of the story, it might not be entirely convincing, but hearing the girl's words—seeing that she did not deny it and even followed along with what Bi Hai had said—there could be no doubt about it.

"Yang Ce, if I'm not mistaken, this little bitch has definitely taken Brother Hai for a mark, wanting to fleece him!" Jing Yu said quietly to Yang Yanzhou.

"How do you know?" Yang Ce had not seen it—the girl did not look like she wanted money. From her appearance, she seemed simply to want justice.

"Of course I know..." Jing Yu stuck out her tongue as she said this: "In the past, we used to fleece marks like this all the time. When a sucker like that happens to leave a handle in your grasp, how could you not take a cut?"

"Is that so?" Yang Ce did not bother to dig into what Jing Yu had done in the past, but simply kept watching.

"Whether it is or not, just watch and you'll see for yourself," Jing Yu said.

But no sooner had Jing Yu finished speaking than the girl cried out: "How about this—you pay me compensation for emotional distress, and we'll call it even!"

"You want to extort me?" Bi Hai furrowed his brow. No one had ever dared speak to him like that before, but Yang Ce was right there, and Bi Hai did not know what Yang Ce's attitude was, so he did not dare rashly solve the problem with violence. After all, his status now was no longer that of a small-time thug.

"My boyfriend works at a newspaper," the girl said. "You look like a man of status—surely you don't want to end up in the papers over indecent exposure?"

By this point Yang Ce needed to watch no further. It was certain beyond doubt—Jing Yu had hit the mark. The girl simply wanted to extort some money out of Bi Hai.

Ge Xinyao could not bear to watch any longer either. Now that she knew Bi Hai had not found a woman outside but was being blackmailed, she could hardly contain herself—but Yang Ce had not spoken, and Ge Xinyao did not dare act on her own.

"Do you know him?" Yang Cenbin stepped forward with a smile and asked the girl who was making all the noise.

"Know him? Of course not. Why would I know this hooligan?" the girl snorted.

"Oh—since you don't know him, why do you say he's a hooligan?" Yang Jiyan pressed on.

"He went into the women's restroom and pulled down his pants—if that's not a hooligan, what is?" The girl frowned. "This is none of your business. What do you do, anyway?"

"I'm his friend. Even if you want compensation for emotional distress, you'll have to ask me for it—his money is in my hands," Yang Linyue said mildly.

"Then you can give it to me!" Only then did the girl reluctantly continue speaking with Yan.

Yang Juehuan's words left Bi Hai, along with Jing Yu and Ge Xinyao, utterly baffled. They had no idea why Yang Ce had suddenly thrust himself into the middle of this.

"Then what evidence do you have to prove that he went into the women's restroom and pulled down his pants?" Yang Jiyan pressed on.
