Chapter 361 — You Trash My Car and Think You Can Just Leave?
"Hey, you up there! Get away, don't go near him!" The young man giving chase spotted Yang Ce climbing into the car and standing so close to the man he was after. Alarmed, he bellowed at the top of his lungs: "He's dangerous!"
"Dangerous?" Yang Ce eyed the man before him. Dangerous he certainly was—anyone who could blast the casing off a car's center console with a single punch was no ordinary man.
Just then, the man whose collar Yang Ce had seized—already furious and impatient at being grabbed the moment he boarded—heard his pursuer's shout and his eyes lit up. Ignoring the hand at his throat and the fingers still fishing for the ignition wires, he produced a dagger from somewhere and thrust it at Yang Juehuan's neck.
The young man in pursuit saw the move and his heart clenched. The very thing he dreaded had come to pass. He had come abroad on a special assignment: the man he was chasing was a classified fugitive wanted by the state, who had stolen scientific and technological secrets and fled the country. He had tracked him all the way to Las Vegas, intending to finish him off quietly.
But this man's skills were formidable—beyond the range of ordinary people—and he was devilishly cunning. Several times during the chase he had lured him into crowded districts, where he could not act freely or risk firing his gun. This was not his own country's soil, and he was here on a secret mission. If the local police caught wind of it, he would land himself in a great deal of unnecessary trouble.
This time he had nearly had the man—only for him to leap into a convertible and try to use the car to escape. And the car's owner seemed utterly unaware of how dangerous the fellow was, actually rushing up to argue with him!
If that man seized the car's owner as a hostage to threaten him, he would truly be in a bind—he might well have to let him go. With a hostage in hand, passersby would call the police, and he could take no further action.
At that thought, the pursuer could not help sighing. But when he saw that the man being grabbed was also Asian—a fellow countryman—he still had to warn him: "Get away! That man is dangerous!"
But the man's dagger was already thrusting at Yang Ce.
A flicker of mockery crossed Yang Juehuan's eyes. You wreck my car, and now you want to take me hostage too?
"So—do you want to kill me, or use me as a hostage?" Yang Ce leaned lightly aside, evading the dagger's swift strike, and asked in a flat tone.
"Huh?" The man visibly froze. It had never occurred to him that Yang Ce could dodge his thrust. He had some confidence in his own speed and skill—otherwise he could never have repeatedly escaped the pursuit of the man behind him!
Damn the mysterious investigation bureau! Meddling in what was none of their business—this was clearly a Security Bureau matter, yet in the end they had coordinated this one expert to hunt him across a thousand miles. Li Dianchi's heart seethed with resentment and fury!
What right did they have? The chip was no longer in his hands—he had already handed it over—yet this fellow still dogged his heels, relentless, like a ghost that would not disperse!
And Dr. Banlin was a real bastard! He had promised that after the chip changed hands, he would send experts to protect him for a time. But once the chip was gone, the bastard's experts would not take orders anymore—would not heed his command at all!
Motherless bastards! Had he known the danger, he would never have taken such a risk for those tens of millions of dollars! Back home he was, at the very least, a high-salaried researcher pulling in hundreds of thousands a year...
At that thought, Li Dianchi wanted to die of sheer frustration.
He had meant to use Yang Ce as a hostage to force the man from the mysterious investigation bureau to call off the hunt. But in a single instant Li Dianchi had realized that this young man—who looked so ordinary, a little sunny and handsome—seemed to be a dangerous figure himself!
Damn it all, what kind of mess was this? How could he be so unlucky—he had tried to seize a hostage, only to find the hostage was an expert even deadlier than he was. Li Dianchi wanted to cry!
But this was no time for tears. Survival came first! After the failed strike, Li Dianchi gave up attacking Yang Ce. That single instant of Yang Ce's dodge had already told him the danger he was in.
Li Dianchi dropped the dagger. Against an expert, a dagger was utterly useless—it could not harm the other man and might well become the tool of his own suicide. Having dropped it, he made to leap from the car and keep running—only to discover abruptly that Yang Ce still had him by the collar...
Li Dianchi put every ounce of strength he had into it, yet could not break free of Yang Juehuan's grip.
"Hey!" Desperate, Li Dianchi chopped a knife-hand at Yang Juehuan's wrist! He was truly frantic—the man from the mysterious investigation bureau was about to catch up, and here he was, held fast by this brat and unable to leave! What kind of mess was this!
Li Dianchi finally understood what it meant to have a stone dropped on one's own foot, to bring trouble on oneself, to lose the hen and the rice with it, to lose the lady and the troops besides.
"Bang!" Li Dianchi's strike landed hard on Yang Ce's wrist.
"Awooo—" A shrill scream.
Yang Ce watched as Li Dianchi nearly leapt off the ground in agony, gave a cold laugh, and looked at him mockingly: "You wreck my car, and you think you can just leave?"
Yang Minlan did not even bother to dodge Li Dianchi's knife-hand. In those days, when Yang Ce had just been chosen by Fang Tian and begun his training, he had soaked and remade his body in medicinal baths every day, spent his days punching and kicking great trees, and had flat-out wrecked a good many of them. However hard Li Dianchi's wrist might be, could it compare to a great tree? Chopping a knife-hand at him was simply asking for trouble—courting his own suffering!
"Shit!" Li Dianchi wanted to curse aloud. *Brother, how much is your car even worth? If I run a little slower, I lose my life!* He truly wanted to slap the brat dead—how could he not tell which mattered more?
But Li Dianchi only thought it. If he really tried to slap him, he would not dare! Remember how that knife-hand had chopped the brat's wrist a moment ago—the brat was perfectly fine, even sneering at him, while his own hand hurt so badly it was about to fall off!
How was that like chopping a wrist at all? It was like chopping an iron rod! Was that even a human wrist? It was reinforced concrete!
As the shock in his heart deepened, Li Dianchi also knew he could not use force against Yang Ce. He could only plead in a low, humble voice: "Brother, I'll definitely pay for your car—I won't welsh on it! Just let me go first, and afterward I swear I'll pay you for two cars..."
