Chapter 365 — I'll Pay
Li Dianchi was on the verge of weeping. The moment he heard Yang Juehuan's words, he nearly fainted dead away from fright! This was only the beginning? There were other means still to come? Was the man out of his mind?
This alone was enough to kill a person, to leave him hovering between life and death, and from the sound of Yang Juehuan there were even more vicious methods to follow—did the man not intend to let him live at all? Though, if he simply weren't going to let him live, that might almost be better; what was truly unbearable was this half-dead feeling.
At that thought, Li Dianchi hurriedly said, "Brother, I'll pay, I'll pay, I'll pay you for the two cars... no, three cars, I'll transfer the money to you right now, just let me go, I'm begging you!"
"Oh, if you're paying up, why didn't you say so earlier?" Yang Ce crouched down, tapped Li Dianchi lightly a few times on the body, then rose to his feet again.
I wanted to say so earlier, but when did I ever get the chance? You're too ruthless! I yield, I truly yield! After Yang Yuting's few taps, Li Dianchi felt as though he'd leapt out of a pit of fire—an indescribable relief!
"Phew—" Li Dianchi let out a long breath. That agonizing sensation was finally gone; the memory of that pain seeping into his very marrow made him shudder even now.
The man before him was terrifying, more terrifying than Liu Yu, who was chasing him! He reckoned that if the mysterious Bureau of Investigation had sent this man after him from the start, he'd never have gotten this far before being dragged back.
The pain in Li Dianchi's body gradually faded, and his strength slowly returned, but he made no move to get up in a hurry—instead he feigned exhaustion, still lying on the ground.
Yang Shuoxuan did not urge him on. A flicker of mockery glinted in his eyes, though Li Dianchi did not notice.
Li Dianchi was at that moment hatching a cunning scheme: once he'd recovered his strength, he would flee at top speed. So when Yang Yongjin told him to get up, he was quite content to lie there pretending he hadn't recovered.
"When are you going to give me the money?" Yang Ce glanced at Li Dianchi and asked.
"Huff... huff..." Li Dianchi deliberately gasped a couple of heavy breaths. "I feel terrible, I'm dying, just a moment..."
Having said this, Li Dianchi's eyes darted toward Yang Ce. Seeing that neither Yang Ce nor Liu Yu made any move, he suddenly let out a shout of "Hah-yah!" and sprang to his feet, then bolted off in the direction opposite the two men...
When Liu Yu saw Li Dianchi rise, he thought, This is bad, and was about to stop him—but before he could, Yang Ce reached out a hand to hold him back. "No need to rush..."
"Hm?" Liu Yu was taken aback. Had he not already confirmed the authenticity of Yang Juehuan's credentials, he would truly have thought Yang Ce and Li Dianchi were in league with each other!
But what happened next made Liu Yu understand why Yang Ce had let Li Dianchi run off without lifting a finger.
Li Dianchi leapt up from the ground, meaning to flee—but he had no sooner risen and lunged forward than, before he could even take a step, he hit the ground with a "bang," falling flat on his face!
Li Dianchi landed headfirst, his forehead split open and bleeding freely. He was utterly bewildered. What was wrong with his legs? Why wouldn't they obey him? Why couldn't he run at all? He'd fallen the moment he stood up? His sense of balance had never been that bad, had it?
Instinctively Li Dianchi struggled to clamber up from the ground, wanting to keep running, but to his horror he discovered he simply could not stand! His legs seemed not to belong to him at all—they would not obey him!
His earlier leap from the ground had drawn, at least in part, on momentum rather than the strength of his legs. Now, when he tried to rise using his legs, he found it utterly impossible—his legs were simply useless!
"My legs... what's wrong with my legs?" Fear was written all over Li Dianchi's face. "Why can't my legs move?"
"You're not a very honest fellow, are you? You wanted to run?" Yang Ce regarded Li Dianchi with a half-smile.
"I... I didn't..." Looking at Yang Ce's mocking expression, Li Dianchi finally understood—this was surely Yang Ce's doing. Otherwise, when he'd made his break, why would Yang Yongjin have shown not the slightest alarm, not even lifting a hand to stop him?
"Since you weren't trying to run, then what were you doing just now?" Yang Ce asked with a cold laugh.
"I—I just felt I'd recovered, so I was doing a bit of exercise... yes, that's it, just exercising!" Li Dianchi said with perfect seriousness.
"All right, I don't care whether you were exercising or trying to run—enough of this nonsense. Are you paying or not?" Yang Yanzhou raised an eyebrow and reached out to grab Li Dianchi.
Li Dianchi was terrified by Yang Juehuan's movement, certain that Yang Ce meant to subject him to something like the earlier treatment. How could he possibly endure that again? At the thought, Li Dianchi trembled all over and stammered, "Don't... don't come near me... I'll call and transfer the money right now..."
"Then hurry it up. My time is precious, I have none to waste dawdling with you." Yang Wenru frowned at Li Dianchi.
"Yes... yes..." Li Dianchi hastily pulled out his phone and dialed his Swiss bank, then asked Yang Yanchuan cautiously, "Sir, what is your account number?"
"My account number is xxxx—" Yang Ce casually gave Li Dianchi one of his accounts with a Swiss bank.
Li Dianchi noted it down and swiftly made the transfer—two million US dollars, enough to buy four cars. He was truly frightened now and wanted nothing more than to be rid of this great personage, Yang Cenbin.
"Sir, I've transferred two million US dollars to you, please check it..." Li Dianchi said cautiously. "That's enough for four cars—will that do?"
"Mm, no need to check. Liu Yu, this man is yours to deal with." Yang Ce did not so much as glance at Li Dianchi as he spoke to Liu Yu beside him.
"Understood!" Liu Yu breathed a sigh of relief too. Now that Yang Ce had handed the man over to him, he could rest easy—though he still asked, "Mr. Yang, what about Li Dianchi's legs..."
"Oh, I sealed his acupoints. They'll release on their own in forty-eight hours," Yang Ce explained. "I don't think we need to release them now, do we? Save him from running off again."
"That's true enough!" Hearing Yang Juehuan's explanation, Liu Yu was in no hurry to release Li Dianchi's acupoints either. All the better if the fellow couldn't run—it saved him the worry.
"All right, I'm off to have fun with my friend. You go back and report. If I ever get the chance to return to the country, I'll buy you a drink!" Yang Hengye waved a hand at Liu Yu as he spoke.
"Let me buy. You've done me a great favor this time—next time we meet, we drink till we drop!" Liu Yu said heartily.
"Now that's a manly thing to say!" Yang Hengye teased. "Otherwise you'd be a bit too much of a sissy."
"Damn it!" Liu Yu's face darkened at once, and he nearly keeled over. With a bitter smile he hauled Li Dianchi off the ground and departed...
