Chapter 936 — Lele Has Gone Missing

Years of Heartflutter

"Then... what do we do now?" Jing Yu looked at Zhou Yanning, somewhat at a loss.

"What can we do? Either I spend some effort brute-forcing the password, but that takes far too long, or the simplest way is to use your company's computer to file a recovery appeal. That's the fastest route," Zhou Yanning said.

"All right then, let's go to the company!" Jing Yu nodded hurriedly.

So Jing Yu drove the car, carrying Zhou Yanning to the company. These past few days, Jing Yu had meant to take a vacation and had handed all company affairs over to Bao Lin and Hou Lin to manage. But who would have thought that such a mess would crop up anyway, leaving Jing Yu both helpless and unsure whether to laugh or cry.

The two quickly arrived at the company, and with Zhou Yanning's help, completed the QQ account recovery appeal. Next came waiting for the result of the appeal; once they had done all this, the two went home.

Around the afternoon, Jing Yu received a reply to the appeal. Because the information she had filled in was entirely correct, the password for the QQ account could be reset. And this time, with Zhou Yanning's help, Jing Yu also applied for password protection and bound a phone number—this way, greatly reducing the possibility of theft.

"Phew... finally got it back..." Jing Yu breathed a sigh of relief. "There's nothing really important on this QQ account, but I've used it for so long—it's full of close friends and family. Losing it would truly have hurt!"

"Don't celebrate too soon. Aren't you going to check the chat logs? See whether the thief used your QQ account to run any scams," Zhou Yanning reminded her.

Nowadays, scams run with stolen accounts were all too common. In most cases, the stolen number was used to message friends on QQ, claiming to have run into some difficulty, to be out of money, and urging friends to wire a certain amount right away.

True, people these days were quite vigilant, and the internet regularly warned about this sort of swindler's trick—yet some careless friends would still fall for it. It wasn't that these people failed to think it over; rather, out of trust in their friend, they assumed that if the friend was short of money, things must truly be hard, so they didn't ask too many questions and wired the money directly—and fell right into the swindler's trap.

So the swindlers exploited exactly this psychology, and succeeded again and again!

"Right, I need to check quickly..." Hearing this, Jing Yu nodded hurriedly, opened each QQ friend one by one, and checked the roaming records of the past seven days to see whether there was any trace of the swindler's use.

Jing Yu started with her real-life friends. Fortunately, after she had gone through all of them, she immediately breathed a sigh of relief. Not a single real-life friend had been scammed; the swindler hadn't even spoken to them.

That relieved Jing Yu, and at the same time set her wondering—perhaps the thief hadn't stolen the account to deceive people at all. Maybe they just wanted to see whether she had any Q coins or the like...

But when Jing Yu came to her best online friend "Lele," she gave a sudden start! Because inside there were a great many chat records!

Jing Yu was startled and hurriedly read them carefully. Yet as she read on, her face turned pale and grim, for from these chat records she gleaned a very important piece of information!

That was: Lele had actually gone to meet the Little Fox Fairy. And that Little Fox Fairy was not herself—it was the account thief! Jing Yu was instantly shocked!

This online friend Lele was none other than Yang Juehuan's girlfriend, Huang Yan! And Jing Yu, naturally, was the real Little Fox Fairy.

Before this, Jing Yu had never connected Lele with Huang Yan. After all, her online friend was called "Lele," and "Lele" was such a common name—how could she possibly link Lele to Huang Yan?

But later, as her chats with Lele deepened, she had obtained Yang Juehuan's QQ number, and comparing it with the one she already knew, she understood that Lele was also one of Yang Juehuan's women! Of course, Jing Yu had never found the chance to tell Yan this secret, nor had she told Huang Yan.

What she had in mind was to wait until she met Huang Yan in person and the two of them got to talking—then she would bring it up. After all, saying it outright would be a bit awkward, and it wasn't any great matter anyway!

And the last time Huang Yan came, because Yang Ce was about to leave, time had been rushed, so Jing Yu never found the opportunity to have a chat with Huang Yan—and Huang Yan had hurried off again!

Originally, Huang Yan had said she would come over these next few days, and Jing Yu had prepared to give Huang Yan a fright by revealing the Little Fox Fairy's true identity. But who could have imagined that such a thing would happen?

Never mind that Lele was Yang Juehuan's girlfriend Huang Yan—even if she weren't, she was Jing Yu's good friend, and Jing Yu could not sit by and watch Huang Yan be deceived!

She checked the timestamp on the chat records: the log was from the day before yesterday, and the time they had agreed to meet was exactly this morning! And now it was nearly evening. Seeing this, Jing Yu was both alarmed and afraid, and without even bothering to explain to Zhou Yanning, she snatched up her phone and dialed Huang Yan's number...

"Sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off or out of the service area..." A formulaic recorded message came through the receiver—Huang Yan's phone was actually switched off and unreachable!

This sent a sudden chill through Jing Yu's heart. She dialed again—still the same powered-off message...

"Xiaolu, what's wrong? Why are you calling so urgently?" Zhou Yanning asked, looking at Jing Yu with some puzzlement.

"Jiajia, this is bad—something's happened!" Jing Yu said anxiously.

"Huh? What happened? Did someone on your QQ friends list really get scammed?" Zhou Yanning asked.

"It's far worse than that..." Jing Yu said. "It's Lele—Huang Yan has been deceived!"

"Huh? Lele? How was Lele deceived? And how is she on your QQ friends list? None of us even have her QQ number, do we?" Zhou Yanning asked, puzzled.

"It's a long story!" Jing Yu said with a bitter smile. "Jiajia, go call Sister Xiao Qing, Sister Sun Jie, and Sister Meng Yan over. I'll explain the situation to you all in detail!"

"All right, I'll go get them right now!" Zhou Yanning did not dare delay either, and hurried out of the room to notify the other girls. Meanwhile, in the room, Jing Yu dialed Huang Yan's number over and over again, never tiring of it!

But every time she called, the same powered-off message came through—no miracle appeared! It seemed Huang Yan's phone really was switched off, and it wasn't a matter of poor signal or the like.
