Chapter 408 — They're Too Normal

The Beast-Taming Craftsman Page 4 of 4

As they walked, the mixed-blood half-elf Luoyi proudly introduced her own ability.

The blood elves of Tingxiang were divided into two great schools: one, like vampires, absorbed the vital blood of other transcendent beings to temper their physiques and practice all manner of battle techniques; the other used transcendent blood as a medium to create summons for battle. Luoyi clearly belonged to the latter.

"A fine ability," Shi Jin said. It reminded him rather a lot of the phantom of false and true.

"And me, me too!" Xilia the forest elf was eager to introduce her own ability as well.

[Master, they seem awfully enthusiastic about Shi Jin,] Lian muttered to Lu Heng through their link.

The two little elves were quite lively; the two elder elves, though more reserved, were also doing their best to draw Shi Ying's attention.

[Of course I noticed.] Lu Heng sighed. So were they here to help her, or to invite Shi Jin to play?

Surely the Shi family's Qi... wouldn't come all the way to Tingxiang just to contract an elf and take it home?

The group chatted as they walked, and soon passed the Tingxiang royal training ground. Luoyi poked her head over for a look. "Qi, that Qi girl, she's still training."

Qi?

Hearing Luoyi say this, Shi Jin indeed noticed it too—the elf girl he had spotted earlier was practicing archery in the huge training ground nearby.

But the blood elf Luoyi merely mentioned it in passing before walking on, and apart from Shi Jin, none of them paid it much mind.

"That little girl from before—didn't she have no transcendent power?" Shi Tang said after they had passed.

"Right, Qi has no transcendent power, but she's quite skilled with all sorts of weapons—bows, two-handed greatswords, one-handed swords, polearms, firearms, shields, she can use them all, and she loves them too," Luoyi said. "Hm? Brother Shi Jin, how did you know she has no transcendent power?"

Shi Yan said, "President Aolan introduced me to quite a few people at the banquet. She mentioned it once."

"Oh, oh." Luoyi nodded. So that was it.

"No transcendent power? What's going on—isn't she an elf?" Lu Heng asked, puzzled as well.

"No one knows. Physicians, the Book of Omniscience, even Her Majesty the Empress—none of them could diagnose this strange affliction," Lier said.

"What a pity," Annis said with regret. This was why she was not overly fond of mixed blood—though there was a chance of producing a genius, it was irresponsible toward one's offspring and all the more prone to defects.

The group continued on.

And by then, Shi Jin had already fallen into thought.

Fond of all kinds of weapons and equipment, is she.

So that was it—since she had no transcendent power of her own, she made herself stronger through all manner of transcendent weapons and equipment.

Even without transcendent power, her physique was still an elf's physique, and she was undoubtedly more adept at wielding such energy weapons than an ordinary human.

This was, in fact, an approach to cultivation.

Using all kinds of powerful weapons and equipment to arm a living being.

"If I could whisk this Qi away..."

"Before she awakens divine power, I could cultivate her along these lines."

"Weapons and equipment—aren't they wholesale on my end?"

"Absolutely more marvelous than anything Tingxiang's dwarves could forge!"

"That bow she was holding earlier—the Wind Bow, wasn't it?"

"I can make one too."

"Have Canbaobao shape a bow limb with Plant Palm, and Chongchong spin a bowstring from insect silk. Then use the spatial pocket to carve out a sub-space inside the silk, and right after that, use Phantom of Truth and Illusion to manifest a wind qilin weapon spirit into it.

"When the user draws the string, the bow limb will automatically exude a sweet mist to help them focus. At the same time it will draw on the qilin phantom's power to condense arrows of wind spirit orbs. And if we add a few more phantoms inside, we can fuse all kinds of attributes into the wind spirit orb—and thus an all-element archer is born!"

"As for greatswords and the like, it wouldn't be hard to have Shiyi mold one out of hardened metal. A Heaven-Thunder Sword that draws down natural lightning, a Space Blade that shatters space itself—all of them can be forged."

"For defense, there's Susu's Guardian Water and Chitong's Guardian Flame. Those can be made into battle armor."

Shi Jin thought it over—he really had become a wholesale dealer in equipment and weapons. A whole pile of gear molded from skills that verged on the Way itself; even a dwarf would probably weep at the sight.

Once his thoughts ran clear, Shi Jin immediately notified Shiyi and the others inside the ruins.

"Have you ever heard of Equip Change Magic? Rin, hurry up and research a growth-type equip-change item—one that can summon all sorts of different weapons and gear to arm oneself with, depending on the combat situation."

"As for materials, just use your own skills. Get the toy made within an hour, and there must be at least twelve kinds of weapons and equipment."

"The kind that can handle an ocean battlefield, a land battlefield, and a sky battlefield alike."

That way he could skip the stat points entirely—and since he couldn't allocate them anyway, he couldn't be bothered. Train his willpower well, and he could directly activate the power of a god!

Whether he could win the other party over would depend entirely on whether the equip-change magic item Rin and the others whipped up with overtime had any appeal. He'd treat it as a welcome gift—catering to their tastes, as it were.

Rin: ... Rin's head really hurts.
