Chapter 471 — Crash Again
A rather fierce-looking one-eyed man kicked Kang Xiaofeng in the rear, sending him sprawling headlong onto the ground. "Damn you, sneaking around like that — you're no good, I bet. A reporter, aren't you?"
Kang Xiaofeng was rather unlucky. To avoid being spotted by the two guards at the front, he had climbed over the wall into the compound from the side. His strategy was sound enough; it was just that while he was climbing, the one-eyed man happened to be relieving himself against the wall not far below, and when Kang Xiaofeng dropped down, he gave the man such a fright that the flow cut off altogether. The one-eyed man was furious and dragged Kang Xiaofeng straight into the tile-roofed house.
"Where's Fen? Where have you taken Little Fen? Who the hell are you people?" Now that he had been caught, Kang Xiaofeng threw caution to the wind. He stuck out his neck, looking for all the world like a martyr about to go nobly to his death.
"Fen?" The one-eyed man blinked. "What Little Fen? What the hell do you even do?"
"You kidnapped my girlfriend and you're asking me what I do?" Kang Xiaofeng said furiously. "What do *you* do?"
"Your girlfriend? Don't tell me she's that cripple they brought in just now?" The one-eyed man suddenly recalled the crippled woman who had been delivered earlier.
"Where is she? Let her go, now!" Having thrown caution to the wind, Kang Xiaofeng feared nothing. "If you don't let us go, my boss will be here any minute, and then it's the end of you!"
"Ga?" The one-eyed man acted as though he had heard the joke of the century and burst out laughing. "Your boss? And who do you think your boss is? The end of us? Well, since you're with that cripple, perfect — we'll lock you up together. Since you won't take the road to heaven and insist on walking into hell, you can be a couple in adversity! We'll cut out both your organs and let you share the suffering! Gah-ha-ha!"
The one-eyed man had barely finished speaking when two thunderous crashes rang out from the courtyard, accompanied by bursts of agonized screams — and then silence.
"What's going on?" The one-eyed man was instantly on guard. He turned to one of his men. "Erzi, lock this kid in the basement first. Don't tell me the cops are here?"
"It's my boss who's here! You're all dead!" Kang Xiaofeng had an inexplicable faith in Wei Zhao. If Wei Zhao had come, then both he and Little Fen were out of danger!
"Your boss?" The one-eyed man breathed a sigh of relief. As long as it wasn't the police, it was manageable. He said to his underling Erzi, "Biaozi and Feizi at the gate should have dealt with them already. Let's go out and take a look."
"Then what about this kid—" Erzi pointed at Kang Xiaofeng and asked.
"Just throw him in here and lock it up; he can't run anyway." The one-eyed man spoke carelessly. "Bring your gear. Let's go see which fool's volunteered to donate a kidney this time!"
"You got it!" Erzi pulled a hunting rifle from a hidden compartment in a table inside the room and, holding it in his hands, went out of the tile-roofed house with the one-eyed man — but the scene before them left them both stunned!
There lay Biaozi and Feizi on the ground, battered beyond belief, their faces covered in blood; clearly they were done for. And in the courtyard there was nothing left but an Audi TT sports car — evidently Biaozi and Feizi had been run down by it.
"Motherfuckers — kill them!" The one-eyed man was frantic. Usually only the four brothers guarded this compound, and now two of them had actually been run down by a car. How could he stomach that?
"They—they've got guns!" Feng Xiaoxiao saw the one-eyed man and Erzi come out of the house and said with some alarm.
"Heh— I told you there'd be danger. If you're scared, I'll leave you the car, and you can drive back right now." Wei Zhao glanced at Feng Xiaoxiao, whose face had gone dead white, and said lightly, "I guarantee no one will follow you."
"I—I'm not leaving!" How would Feng Xiaoxiao dare drive off alone at a moment like this? She knew that staying with Wei Zhao was the safest thing. And though Feng Xiaoxiao was a little afraid, deep down she was also thrilled!
At this moment Wei Zhao was like a lone hero out of a movie, storming the headquarters of a criminal gang all by himself, about to go on a rampage and wipe them out at a single stroke!
Wei Zhao wasted no words. The instant Erzi raised his gun, Wei Zhao slammed his foot on the accelerator, and the car spun into a U-shape in the courtyard, striking Erzi with a "bang" and sending him flying, his gun sailing off to who knew where.
Wei Zhao did not want to reveal too much of his ability in front of Feng Xiaoxiao, so using the car to hit people was the best solution.
The one-eyed man had assumed that once the gun was out, the people in the car would meekly surrender! After all, normal people feel an instinctive fear at the sight of a firearm; unless they were desperadoes, no one would dare make a reckless move!
So he never expected that Wei Zhao would still dare to make a move with the car at this moment, sending Erzi, gun raised, flying as well!
Sensing that things had gone badly, One-Eye wanted to run. He had only been paid to stand guard, and he had no desire to die for it. He would rather abandon the money and get away first.
But the very next moment, One-Eye's vision went black; he collapsed to the ground and knew nothing more.
Wei Zhao stripped off One-Eye's belt and bound his hands, then used Erzi's belt to bind his legs, and casually tossed him aside.
Wei Zhao had already run three of them down, so naturally he would not leave no survivors; this One-Eye was clearly some kind of petty leader, so when the man tried to flee, Wei Zhao got out of the car and knocked him unconscious with a casual blow.
Watching Wei Zhao's clean, fluid movements, executed without the slightest hesitation, Feng Xiaoxiao's eyes went wide, filled with worship and excitement! If before she had only admired Wei Zhao's driving skills, now she admired Wei Zhao the man!
Feng Xiaoxiao privately doubted that even the close guards at her father's side could have been as crisp and efficient as Wei Zhao, disposing of everyone in the courtyard so effortlessly!
Wei Zhao walked up to the tile-roofed house in the courtyard and kicked the door to pieces.
The windows of the tile-roofed house were opaque, so Kang Xiaofeng could not see anything outside from within. At that moment a tremendous crash startled him, but when he made out who was at the door, he was overcome with excitement: "Boss! You came?"
"You little brat, couldn't you wait for me? What if something had happened to you?" Wei Zhao scolded Kang Xiaofeng. "Where's Xiaofen?"
"I don't know either. From what they were saying earlier, it seems she's locked in the basement—" Kang Xiaofeng said.
"Oh, did they say why they grabbed Xiaofen?" Wei Zhao asked as he kicked open a door in the inner room and indeed saw the entrance to a basement.
Wei Zhao smiled wryly. He had been overthinking it before, assuming the basement would be some deeply hidden place; he had never expected it to be right in front of him. But then he thought of the skills of One-Eye and the others, and he relaxed.
They were all the weakest sort—what highly sophisticated methods could they possibly have?
