Chapter 930 — So What If We're Bullying You?
"Bullying you? The word 'bully' has never once appeared in the Yu family's dictionary!" Yu Bide burst out laughing and slapped his palm down on the marble coffee table before him. In an instant the hard natural marble shattered into a thousand fragments, shards spraying in every direction, several of them striking Gu Pengzhan's face and tearing his skin open!
Gu Pengzhan stood there, an indescribable desolation on his face. The crisis of the Gu family had come, and yet he had no countermeasure ready!
"The second condition I can agree to. The group's shares, I will transfer all of them to you. But the first condition... Yaoyao cannot marry into your Yu family!" Gu Pengzhan hesitated a moment, then at last made his decision.
The company could be lost, but Yaoyao he could not lose! Marry into the Yu family as a concubine? She would surely suffer every hardship thereafter. How could he ruin her happiness? Besides, whom she married was her own choice; how could he interfere?
"Words spoken by the Yu family are water poured out—is there any taking them back?" Yu Haitian said coldly. "Gu Pengzhan, you had best think this through. We are not haggling with you; we are letting you choose for yourself. Either your whole family dies, or your daughter weds and you pay. Choose."
"Don't push a man too far!" Gu Pengzhan clenched his jaw, fury blazing in both his eyes. His hands balled into fists, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably...
"Too far?" Yu Bide laughed with an easy, elegant air. "We are bullying you—so what? Do as you please. Go find people, find helpers. But just see who dares take up trouble with the Yu family. Remember the identity behind our house—the rules of the secular world do not apply to the hidden clans!"
With that remark Yu Bide had subtly made his point: if Gu Pengzhan had reinforcements, let him bring them out now, quickly—no more hiding. He meant to draw out the power behind Wei Zhao. And of course, if Wei Zhao did not step forward to help, that would prove Wei Zhao had no power behind him at all, and then the Yu family could knead him however they pleased!
"You..." A sharp pain clenched in Gu Pengzhan's chest. He pressed a hand over it, breathing hard. He had not expected the Yu family to refuse even to negotiate their terms—whatever they wanted, they took. He had already made concessions, and still they pressed him step by step!
"By the way, isn't your daughter's bodyguard rather impressive? Don't want to marry her off? Fine—so long as he can show some real strength, I'll let her off!" Fearing Gu Pengzhan might forget the power behind Wei Zhao, Yu Bide added this reminder.
"..." Gu Pengzhan was left somewhat speechless. He did not understand Yu Bide's meaning; he thought Yu Bide knew full well that Wei Zhao had lost all his strength and was deliberately taunting him. Otherwise, if Wei Zhao's strength were intact, how would they dare come knocking together like this?
"Think it over yourself. Give us an answer within the next couple of days! You have only two days!" With that, Yu Bide and Yu Haitian left Gu Pengzhan's office together.
Watching their departing backs, Gu Pengzhan sank weakly to the ground! He did not know what to do, or how to do it! Disaster had already descended on the Gu family—but whom could he blame? Regret was useless to Gu Pengzhan now!
If not for his own soft-heartedness back then, which had given Jin Gubang ideas and bred disloyalty in him, uniting him with Zhao Qibing, today's troubles would never have come to pass! Human greed is boundless; with men like Jin Gubang and Zhao Qibing, once the seed of craving sprouted, it would grow without limit as time passed. Wei Zhao's arrival had made them give up for a while, but the moment Wei Zhao lost his strength, those greedy men came knocking again!
And now not only were his own troubles greater than ever, he had dragged Wei Zhao into feuds with a pack of enemies! Otherwise Wei Zhao would not have had to flee to his hometown to take refuge. Granted, Wei Zhao's enmity with these people was not entirely of his making—but if not for him, Wei Zhao would never even have met these people, much less have become their enemy!
For the past two days An Liwen had been feeling a pain in his kidneys, and he often found blood in his urine. So he went to the hospital for a check-up, and the results gave him a great shock!
"Young man, where did you get this kidney transplanted? It's rejecting, and judging by the markers, it isn't a match at all. It has to be surgically removed as soon as possible!" the doctor said to An Liwen, holding the test report.
"Huh?" An Liwen was stunned. "Impossible—this kidney is my own, it wasn't transplanted! How could it be rejecting?"
"Your own? That can't be right. Your body clearly shows signs of kidney transplant surgery... and the shape of this kidney is somewhat different from your other one..." The doctor could not determine from the scan that it was a dog's kidney, only that it looked different from An Liwen's other original kidney.
After all, human kidneys vary from person to person; they are not all identical, and some are even malformed.
"This..." An Liwen could hardly explain the reason behind it. If the doctor grew suspicious and called the police, that would be a real disaster!
"Young man, this kidney of yours really doesn't match. The rejection is already showing. In time, you won't even be able to keep your life. You should have it removed as soon as possible!" the doctor said with earnest gravity.
"Fine, I'll think it over," An Liwen said with a frown. He had gone to such lengths to get his own kidney back—how could he have it cut out? Wouldn't that make the whole swap pointless?
Once out of the hospital, An Liwen immediately phoned Zhong Yongliang.
Zhong Yongliang was at home at that moment, feasting with Gao Xiaofu in celebration. Seeing An Liwen's call, he motioned Gao Xiaofu to be quiet, then picked up. "Hello? Wen, old man! What's happened?"
"Brother Pinliang, something terrible has happened!" An Liwen said urgently. "This kidney I had swapped in—it is not a match!"
"Not a match? How could that be? Isn't that your original kidney?" Zhong Yongliang exclaimed with feigned astonishment, though inwardly he sneered. If it had matched, that would have been the real ghost—unless you are a dog, how could you possibly match a dog's kidney?
"I know, right? I was baffled too! But I just went to the hospital for a checkup, and it really is not a match!" An Liwen said. "And now the doctor wants me to undergo a removal surgery!"
"What? Removal surgery?" Zhong Yongliang put on a blank look on the surface, but in his heart he thought: I had that removal surgery long ago, so having you do it is only proper. If I did not, you could just wait to die! Yet on his face he showed only puzzlement. "Impossible. Could the test results be wrong?"
