Chapter 1406 — Aiding in an Emergency
"Is there something wrong with you?" Tang Zhi had never expected Zhao Fafa to stoop to such thuggish tricks, yet Wei Zhao truly was not home, and she could not possibly call and disturb him — he had gone out on proper business; how could she interrupt him whenever she pleased?
"Little girl, I advise you to do as he says and fetch your boyfriend here, or don't blame me for being rude!" As Uncle Zhu spoke, he swung a hand down onto the solid-wood coffee table in Tang Zhi's living room. With a thunderous "bang," the table was smashed to splinters — which frightened Tang Zhi's mother so badly that her face went ashen!
Uncle Zhu did not know Tang Zhi and had no idea she was Wei Zhao's girlfriend. Though Wei Zhao had wounded him on her account in the first place, he had never once laid eyes on her; the name Tang Zhi simply sounded somewhat familiar, but for the moment he could not recall where he had heard it.
"Yun'er, go and call Xiaoyi right now, tell him to come over at once — if he doesn't, this house is going to be torn apart!" Tang Zhi's mother was frightened out of her wits. Lowering her voice, she hurriedly said to Tang Zhi: "These people... only Xiaoyi can handle them. Go and find him, quickly!"
"This... then I'll give it a try..." Tang Zhi was out of options too. She had never imagined that the man at Zhao Fafa's side would be so vicious, and from what she knew, this person beside Zhao Fafa was most likely a cultivator as well — ordinary folk truly could not deal with him!
Tang Zhi hurried into her own room, but she had no intention of calling Wei Zhao. Instead, she phoned the Gu family villa.
The one who answered was Gu Mengyao. Tang Zhi explained her predicament, and Gu Mengyao handed the phone to Ergoudan. Wei Zhao was not home, and the only one who could make decisions was Ergoudan.
"A cultivator? All right, I'll have Wu Chengtian go and take a look. Sister-in-law Tang Zhi, don't panic — I'll tell him right now!" Ergoudan certainly could not go himself; there would be no use in it. His strength was spent, the Gu poison in his body was on the verge of breaking out, and keeping himself going through an ordinary day, weak as he was, was already hard enough — never mind fighting anyone!
After hanging up, Ergoudan summoned Wu Chengtian: "Wu Chengtian, my sister-in-law Tang Zhi has run into some trouble. Some lackey has brought a cultivator along to make a nuisance of himself. Could you go over and take a look?"
"Of course, no problem — leave it to me!" Wu Chengtian said, thumping his chest. "The Boss's business is my business, and the Boss's sister-in-law's business is even more my business. Don't worry, I'll take care of it. A cultivator dragged along by some lackey is probably no great talent; I'll deal with him!"
"Be careful. If you find him too much to handle, don't force it — when Uncle Qing gets back, I'll send him to back you up," Ergoudan said.
Uncle Qing, having driven Gu Mengyao, Shen Yushu and Tang Zhi home from school, had gone on to the company to pick up Gu Pengzhan; he was not at home just then.
"All right, Boss, just watch me!" Wu Chengtian rarely got a chance to do something for Ergoudan, so he was naturally full of zeal. He took this as a test from Ergoudan; and having received his orders, he dashed off like a house on fire toward Tang Zhi's home.
Wu Chengtian charged briskly into the house. The moment he entered, he saw Tang Zhi and her mother standing anxiously in the living room, while on the other side stood an old man and a young fellow got up like some rich man's son — the pair of them perfectly at ease, wearing the look of men who held everything in the palm of their hand.
"Sister-in-law Tang Zhi, I'm here! Is it these two bastards?" Wu Chengtian said to Tang Zhi the moment he came through the door. "Are these two *** the ones?"
"Boy, who are you?" Seeing that the newcomer was not Wei Zhao but another young man, Zhao Fafa was momentarily taken aback. "Tang Zhi, have you swapped boyfriends?"
"Are you an idiot? I called her sister-in-law — isn't it obvious who I am?" Wu Chengtian laughed aloud, eyeing Zhao Fafa as though he were a fool. "You're that *** young master, aren't you? I'll give you one chance — apologize to my sister-in-law Tang Zhi right now, or the consequences will be very serious!"
Zhao Fafa's face flushed. He had not caught Wu Chengtian's words clearly earlier and had mistaken him for Tang Zhi's new boyfriend; but he was thick-skinned and said nothing more of it: "What kind of creature are you? 'Consequences will be very serious'? You're bluffing, aren't you?"
"Hmph!" Wu Chengtian gave a cold snort. Turning his head, he spotted a bronze wall lamp beside the Tang family's door. He reached out and yanked, and the lamp came away in his hand; then, with an offhand squeeze, the bronze base of the lamp was crushed out of shape. "See that? If I give your head a squeeze like this, it'll burst!"
"An early-stage Yellow-rank external expert?" Uncle Zhu's expression turned grave. He had not expected this newcomer to be a cultivator as well — only an early Yellow-rank external practitioner, yet no simple matter either! Were there really such capable hands left in the mundane world?
"The old thing has some eye for quality. That being so, why don't the two of you get lost?" Wu Chengtian said smugly.
Tang Zhi was speechless. Had Wu Chengtian come to save the day or to wreck the place? Uncle Zhu had smashed a coffee table, and Wu Chengtian had torn the wall lamp clean off the wall! But since Wu Chengtian meant well — it was to overawe the visitors — she really had no grounds to say anything.
"Ignorant brat, do you think being an early Yellow-rank expert makes you formidable? You have only just stepped over the threshold of a cultivator — truly, you overreach yourself!" On hearing Wu Chengtian's words, Uncle Zhu's face immediately took on a look of derision. "I was once a Mystic-rank expert, at the peak of early Mystic-rank. It is only because I am injured that my strength has fallen to Yellow-rank. Even so, you are no match for me!"
"Mystic-rank? You, a Mystic-rank? You're blowing your own horn, aren't you?" Hearing Uncle Zhu's words, Wu Chengtian burst out laughing. "In that case, let me test just how strong you are!"
With that, Wu Chengtian threw a punch straight at Uncle Zhu. He had always excelled with his hands; his pair of iron palms were extraordinarily hard, and his fists were like steel!
Uncle Zhu had never expected Wu Chengtian to lash out so abruptly, with not the slightest warning before the fists came flying! Uncle Zhu still had several sentences left unsaid; he had wanted to sound out Wu Chengtian's identity and origins, to see what sort of background the boy had — but before he could even ask, the other man had already begun to fight.
This left Uncle Zhu deeply aggrieved. He wanted to dodge, but it was already too late. He had been off his guard to begin with, and he had not stirred his body for a long while besides; only just recovered from grave injuries, he was somewhat stiff, and with a "bang," Wu Chengtian struck him square in the chest. Uncle Zhu took the blow solidly and was driven back several steps, then, with a "pfft," spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
