Chapter 2190 — It's Yours

The Blossom Guardian

When Wei Zhao attended the Hidden Families Summit, he never once saw Zhao Qilei make an appearance from beginning to end. Still, to avoid exposing his connection with Zhao Qilei, he had not asked about him either.

And afterward, Zhao Qilei did not contact Wei Zhao at all, which left Wei Zhao rather puzzled. Where had that fellow gone?

So when he saw Zhao Qibing, he casually asked a question about it.

"Zhao Qilei..." At the mention of the name, a peculiar look flickered through Zhao Qibing's eyes, but he shook his head and said, "I haven't seen him in a long while either. Are you looking for him, Leader Wei Zhao?"

"Just asking casually. That kid got tangled up with Yushan during the trials, trying to set me up. I was thinking of teaching him a lesson the other day," Wei Zhao said.

"Oh..." Zhao Qibing breathed a sigh of relief. As long as the man wasn't after him, all was well. "I wouldn't know. I'm not close to him," he said.

Wei Zhao noticed Zhao Qibing's gaze shifting evasively—he was definitely hiding something—but Wei Zhao could not press him. Ask too much, and Zhao Qibing would surely grow suspicious. The boy's intelligence might not be the highest, but he was no fool either.

"In that case, never mind. I'd originally planned to shake him down for some money." Wei Zhao waved a hand, signaling that Zhao Qibing could leave.

Hearing that he was free to go, Zhao Qibing hurried off in a few quick strides, terrified that lingering here any longer would make Wei Zhao think of some other matter, and that he might end up with both legs broken for no gain at all.

"It's yours." Wei Zhao casually handed the keys to Wang Xinyan beside him.

"Huh?" Wang Xinyan's eyes went wide as she stared at the Porsche key in Wei Zhao's hand. "For... for me?"

"Yeah. Your car's too small—inconvenient to drive day to day. A bigger car would be more practical," Wei Zhao said.

He Meiyue looked at Wang Xinyan, a faint trace of envy flickering in her eyes. Wei Zhao really was something—extorting two cars in a single day, and generous with them too, giving one each to Bai Weituo and Zhao Shengji, and now another to Wang Xinyan.

Wang Xinyan did not know what to say, nor whether she should accept it. If she took it, what exactly was her relationship with Wei Zhao, to accept such an expensive gift? If she refused outright, Wei Zhao would surely be embarrassed in front of everyone.

So Wang Xinyan hesitated. She knew Wei Zhao wouldn't care about a single car, and she herself didn't care about one either—her own sports car was no cheaper than this Porsche Cayenne. It was just that if she accepted, it would confirm the ambiguous relationship between her and Wei Zhao.

In fact, Wei Zhao truly had no other intentions! The sight of Zhao Qibing simply annoyed him, so he had casually extorted a car—but now that the car was in hand, he had nowhere to put it! The eldest young lady and Xiaoshu had their own cars, and in the garage of Wei Zhao's villa now sat an Audi S5, a Land Rover Discovery 4, a Beetle, and now this Grand Cherokee.

So neither Wei Zhao nor the eldest young lady lacked cars, and Han Jingyi, that little genius girl, had a BMW X5M yet never drove it, spending every day mooching rides off Wei Zhao under the pretext of saving fuel. So Wei Zhao truly had no idea whom to give this car to.

Of course, Wei Zhao couldn't simply give it to He Meiyue or Chai Xiaoling for nothing, and one car each for Bai Weituo and Zhao Shengji was plenty. That left only Wang Xinyan.

"All right..." After a moment's hesitation, Wang Xinyan accepted the key.

So what if her relationship with Wei Zhao was ambiguous? She and Kang Jinglong were merely engaged—she was not his wife. What she did hardly seemed to require worrying about others' opinions, did it? Why should she be so cautious? Wang Xinyan, who had always borne things meekly, suddenly felt a trace of rebelliousness rise in her heart at this moment.

In her view, her relationship with Wei Zhao was already somewhat ambiguous, so one car more or less made no difference! During military training, rumors about the two of them had grown even more outrageous and intimate, and during school they sat together every day. If Kang Jinglong wanted to marry her, fine; if not, he could call off the engagement.

"Xinyan, why do you look so reluctant?" He Meiyue laughed. "If you don't want it, Xiaoling and I are queuing up for it!"

"Hehe..." Wang Xinyan gave a serene smile and tucked the key away.

"Leader, you're incredible. In all my life, this is the first time I've met someone like you—not buying a car, but having others give you cars, and two in a single day!" Bai Weituo said with genuine admiration.

"Hurry up and get to the movie—it's about to start, isn't it?" Wei Zhao said.

"Right, let's go!" Bai Weituo glanced at the time on his phone and yelped.

Bai Weituo had bought a couple's package online—three adjoining partitioned couple's booths, with popcorn, soda, and the like included.

Most of the entertainment venues near the university town offered group-buy tickets online, aimed at the nearby college students, and this cinema was packed almost entirely with students.

The six of them entered the theater, found their booth according to the group-buy voucher, and Bai Weituo took the tickets to collect the popcorn and snacks.

Looking at the dimly lit couple's booth, Wang Xinyan's cheeks flushed faintly. In all her life, this was the first time she had gone to the movies with a boy, and sitting in a couple's booth at that, which made her slightly uncomfortable.

Sitting beside Wei Zhao was nothing new—on trains, on planes, in exam halls, in cars, in classrooms, she had always sat next to Wei Zhao, and during military training she had even slept in the same tent as him. But all of that had been group activities, whereas this time... the meaning was just a little different.

Sitting in the booth, Wang Xinyan felt constrained, not knowing where to put her hands and feet.

What was more, at the front of the booth there was a folding door that could be latched from the inside once pulled shut—a design that obviously invited all sorts of wild imaginings.

Of course, near a university town dense with colleges, such a design was hardly surprising. Most people who came here to watch movies were couples deep in love, and should they do something out of line during the film, without any partition it would disturb others and easily get them caught on camera, so this folding door was a rather thoughtful touch.

If ordinary roommates came to watch a movie together, they could choose the non-couple booths up front. It was just that Wei Zhao and Wang Xinyan were not a couple, yet Bai Weituo's group-buy had turned them into one.

"Actually, this is my first time at the movies too..." Seeing Wang Xinyan looking a little unnatural, Wei Zhao said with a smile.

"Ah..." Wang Xinyan was taken aback. "You and... your girlfriend have never been?"

"No..." Wei Zhao shook his head. "Seems Bai Weituo had some less-than-innocent motives!"
