Chapter 2619 — Wang Xinyan's Tangled Thoughts
"Let's go. The White Leader and the others are all waiting for us outside the door." Wei Zhao rose to his feet as he spoke, yet he still held Han Jingyi in his arms without setting her down.
"With Jingjing all like this, shouldn't I take a bath?" Han Jingyi had noticed she was still covered in blood and grime—she felt downright filthy.
"No need. We'll deal with it when we get back." Wei Zhao reached out and opened the door.
"Wei Zhao, is it done?" The White Leader stared in shock at Han Jingyi, whose face and hands were completely unmarked. How had Wei Zhao managed it? He had seen the injuries himself—not even some Dr. Guan or Divine Physician Kang's wound medicine would have done any good, surely? And yet Wei Zhao had healed her with nothing but silver needles? How was that possible?
Moreover, though he did not know how severe Han Jingyi's internal injuries had been, they were certainly no light matter. Yet now, apart from the blood and grime that made for a frightening sight, she was radiant with energy, not in the least like an injured person. What on earth was going on?
"It's done. Jingjing's injuries are all healed." Wei Zhao did not explain much, only said, "I'll take Jingjing home first. Teacher Bai, shall we talk later? I'll come find you at the school?"
"That works!" The White Leader was deeply puzzled, but he was not a man of many words. Since Wei Zhao was not saying more now, he could hardly press him, and he also knew Wei Zhao's medical skill was formidable—far greater than his own, at least. So the White Leader merely nodded and said, "Then I'll head back to the school first. Call me anytime if anything comes up!"
"All right," Wei Zhao said.
After taking leave of the White Leader, Wei Zhao rode in Sun Jingyan's car with Wang Xinyan back to the villa in the Xueshang Residential District. Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had already returned from school—they had come back together with Han Xiaochao. Earlier they had received Wang Xinyan's call saying there was some trouble on Han Jingyi's end and that Wei Zhao was with them, and Gu Mengyao had not thought much of it.
But when she saw Wei Zhao carry the blood-soaked Han Jingyi into the villa, she was struck dumb with shock!
"Wei Zhao, what... what happened to Jingjing?" Gu Mengyao looked at Han Jingyi, drenched in blood and as pitiful a sight as could be, and was badly frightened. "What happened?"
"Yao Yao, Jingjing's fine!" Han Jingyi hopped down from Wei Zhao's arms and said with a grin, "Goodness, Jingjing's absolutely filthy. Jingjing will go take a bath first. Xiaoshu, could you run to my place and fetch me a few clothes?"
"Okay!" Shen Yushu gave Han Jingyi a somewhat puzzled look, then glanced at Wei Zhao, nodded, and went out of the villa—though as she walked she called back, "Arrow-Brand Brother, wait for Xiaoshu, okay? When Xiaoshu gets back, you have to tell the story!"
"Silly Xiaoshu, what story? Wei Zhao and Jingjing were probably in danger, and by the time it reaches you it's turned into a story?" Gu Mengyao glared at Shen Yushu, then said to Wei Zhao, "Don't pay her any mind!"
"Since Arrow-Brand Brother and Jingjing are both fine, then it must all be safely over, right?" Shen Yushu shrugged and said carelessly.
"It really is over. It's all in the past." Wei Zhao nodded. Xiaoshu was clever, in her way—she did not waste worry on things already done.
Very soon Shen Yushu was back; she had evidently run the whole way. By the time she returned to the living room, Han Jingyi had still not come out of the bath. Wei Zhao sat down and briefly recounted to them what had happened. Only where Han Jingyi was concerned, Wei Zhao himself was not yet clear on things: how had the other side known he possessed Zhang Lifeng's alchemist's notes? And how had they known that he and Han Jingyi could work together to refine pills?
Even the White Leader did not know these things. And it was only today that Wei Zhao had mentioned Zhang Lifeng's alchemist's notes to the White Leader—and the White Leader's shock at the time had not seemed feigned. In other words, the White Leader had not known of these matters beforehand. But if so, how had this Xiao Yi and Xiao Shiyi come to know?
Wang Xinyan and Sun Jingyan had not known before just how badly Han Jingyi had suffered, but hearing from Wei Zhao that Jingjing's chest and lower body had been kicked to pieces, they turned pale with fright on the spot, and the young miss shed tears of worry as well. Han Jingyi was too pitiful!
Thank goodness Wei Zhao had been able to save her—otherwise, what would they have done? Everyone present was close to Wei Zhao and knew something of his affairs, so they were not especially surprised, only felt that the whole thing had been simply harrowing!
If the White Leader had not appeared, Wei Zhao likely would not have been a match for Xiao Yi at all; and if Wei Zhao had been a step later, they might never have seen Han Jingyi again!
When Han Jingyi finished her bath and came out in the clothes Shen Yushu had left by the bathroom door, she found the whole room sitting silent on the sofa, faces sorrowful, and could not help but start. "What's wrong with all of you?"
"Jingjing, you're done washing?" Wei Zhao glanced at Han Jingyi, who looked perfectly well, and his mood improved considerably.
So it was with everyone else: seeing that Han Jingyi now showed no sign of injury at all, they all breathed a sigh of relief. Terrifying as it had been, at least it was over.
"Mm, Wei Zhao, don't you all worry. Jingjing herself is fine!" Han Jingyi said with a smile.
"Ha, we won't worry. Go home and get some proper rest. I'm heading to the school—there's a great deal I need to talk over with the White Leader and confirm." Wei Zhao had many questions he wanted to ask the White Leader: the origins and sect of Xiao Yi and Xiao Shiyi, and the White Leader's own affairs as well.
"Mm, then Jingjing will go home and rest. I'm a bit tired today, so Jingjing will turn in early too," Han Jingyi said, nodding obediently.
"Xinyan, you can sleep in my room. I may be back a little late," Wei Zhao said, turning to Wang Xinyan.
"Mm..." Wang Xinyan murmured in assent, but inwardly she grew more and more tangled. Did this count as living together with Wei Zhao? Wang Xinyan felt there was no longer any difference between them and any other college couple—shacking up off campus together...
Ai! Wang Xinyan sighed. Was she sinking deeper and deeper? What was she to do? To refuse Wei Zhao—she could not bring herself to say it. She had seen what happened today: what Wei Zhao lacked most right now was strength. Only with greater strength could he better protect the people around him!
So all Wang Xinyan could do at this moment was help Wei Zhao cultivate.
"Jingjing, when you were bathing just now, you checked yourself, didn't you? There's nowhere on your body that hasn't been restored?" Before leaving, Wei Zhao glanced at Han Jingyi. Confident as he was that the second level of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art should restore a person's injuries a hundred percent, this time many of Han Jingyi's private parts had been involved after all, and Wei Zhao had no way to examine them one by one!
