Chapter 3275 — The Great Shift of the Cosmos

The Blossom Guardian

Suddenly, two yellow folders appeared out of thin air within the jade pendant's space. The discovery both startled and delighted Wei Zhao: his hypothesis held true. Anything he could conceive of, so long as the jade pendant's space could contain it, could be placed inside—even through a solid layer of safe!

After all, Elder Jiao had once said that the jade pendant's space seemed to be some sort of fourth-dimensional spatial plane, unconstrained by the rules of the present three-dimensional space. The two operated under different laws, and so Wei Zhao had effortlessly accomplished the theft of the folders.

Of course, Brother Dafeng had said there was only one yellow folder, yet Wei Zhao had obtained two. One of them, he supposed, must contain something else entirely—not the address of the poison-refining base. No matter; he would take them back and look them over later. For now, Wei Zhao did not dare casually take them out to examine, seeing as Fanny was right there beside him.

That done, Wei Zhao quietly made his way to Fanny's side, and by then she had smoothly pulled out a small black case. Clearly, the drugs were inside.

"Here they are. So heavy—you carry it."

Fanny said this to Secretary Lu.

Wei Zhao nodded and readily took the case of drugs in hand, then left the office together with Fanny.

"Boss, the goods are here," Fanny said to the general manager, gesturing toward Wei Zhao.

As instructed, Wei Zhao set the drug case on the tea table, then opened it and displayed the contents to Chairman He.

"Chairman He, please inspect the goods!" The general manager nodded and said to Chairman He, "I trust you are a seasoned hand in this line of work, and that you did your homework on the purity of the drugs before coming. Everything I've prepared for you is the finest, highest-purity merchandise. After all, you and I are both heads of organizations with reputations to uphold—I could hardly cheat you over a single transaction."

He Dantou had indeed done considerable homework on drugs beforehand. He conducted a preliminary inspection of the drugs in Wei Zhao's case and found that, just as the general manager had said, the case contained goods of exceptionally high purity. Only then did he smile in satisfaction. "Chairman He, in that case, let us have cash on one hand and goods on the other!"

With that, He Dantou made to bring up the case of money from the floor and set it on the tea table for the general manager to see.

But that motion of He Dantou's stirred something in Wei Zhao's heart! That large case—it was all euros. Judging by its size, there had to be at least several hundred million euros in there. If he could get his hands on it, it would greatly alleviate the financial crisis at Yu Xiaoke's orphanage!

At that thought, Wei Zhao, betraying nothing in his expression, roused his mind and will, and transferred the euros inside the case into the jade pendant's space! Though the jade pendant's space was not large, it was more than ample for a single case of euros. In an instant, the case was emptied—every last euro had fled into Wei Zhao's jade pendant space.

It was at that very moment that He Dantou entered the code on the case. With a bang, he threw it open. But though the case was open, everyone present, save Wei Zhao, was stunned!

The case… was actually empty! The most astonished, naturally, was He Dantou himself. His expression instantly turned grim, his breathing grew rapid, and only after a long pause did he say in fury, "General Manager, what is the meaning of this?"

"Chairman He, I was about to ask you the same thing! You bring an empty case to a transaction and then ask me what I mean by it?" The general manager's expression darkened as well. The empty case made him wonder: was Chairman He trying to rob him outright?

"What do I mean by bringing an empty case? How could I possibly bring an empty case to a transaction?" He Dantou said, then hefted the case with his hand and said coldly, "Whether there was money in this case before, I carried it all the way here and I know perfectly well. Now that it's gone empty, do you think I wouldn't notice?"

"Chairman He, from what you're saying, am I to understand that you believe I took the money out of the case?" the general manager asked just as coldly.

"Hmph!" He Dantou gave a cold snort. Though he said nothing outright, the implication was unmistakable.

"Chairman He, allow me to remind you: this case has been sitting at your feet ever since it came through that door. I haven't so much as touched it. Moreover, do you really think I could take the money out without opening the case? What do you take me for—a magician? I daresay even a master of the heavenly way has no such trick of fetching objects across empty space. That is beyond what any cultivator could achieve—it would take either advanced technology or a paranormal ability! But do you believe such technology or such abilities exist today? If I had that kind of power, I'd go haul gold bars out of a bank—no need to make money trafficking drugs!" The general manager's expression had regained its calm as he explained coolly, "Of course, one cannot rule out the possibility that you, Chairman He, are crying thief while thieving—deliberately framing me!"

"You…" Chairman He was thoroughly enraged by the general manager's last words, but he was not a man devoid of intelligence. True enough, the case had been at his feet from the moment he entered and had never left his side. Besides, he was a grand-master at the peak of the late Heaven Rank—if someone had opened the case under his very nose and stolen the money, it would have been impossible for him not to notice the slightest trace, especially since the sum inside was no small amount. Even to move it would have taken several trips—who could have stolen it all in one go?

Yet to say the case had been swapped was equally impossible, for he himself had set its code, and the case bore certain marks of the Overseas Cultivators Association. The Red Conch could hardly have counterfeited such a case on the spot!

And more than that—who could have swapped the case right under his nose?

So in that moment Chairman He was somewhat bewildered. Had he seen a ghost? Had he never put the money in at all? He was no longer entirely certain! After all, the whole affair was monstrously strange. If the money had simply vanished into thin air, then he truly had seen a ghost.

"Fine. You have a computer here, I take it? I'll wire you the money," He Dantou said, drawing a deep breath. Though his mind was filled with perplexity, the transaction could not be halted. He had no cash, so a transfer was the only way.

If the money really was lost, he would suffer a crushing loss—but if he did not go through with the transaction, he would lose everything and gain nothing.

"Yes, that can be arranged." The general manager, too, was somewhat puzzled as to what play Chairman He was putting on. Did the man truly come to trade in good faith? Had he really brought the money? But none of that mattered; so long as He Dantou agreed to a transfer, it was fine. "Fanny, go enter my account details into my laptop and bring it here!"
