Chapter 3347 — Conflict Erupts
"I wouldn't be so sure about that. So what we're doing here is really just helping those wronged souls get their justice!" In truth, Thor Sun-Moon had no idea that everyone Wei Zhao had killed had deserved to die—there were no wronged souls at all.
"Fair enough. Then leave this matter to me—a mid Heaven Rank expert is still someone I can handle." Thor Turgut volunteered.
"Good. This month happens to be your rotation anyway, so I'll leave this man to you. You've already gotten your hands on the photograph, haven't you?" Thor Sun-Moon asked.
"Yes, I have it!" Thor Turgut nodded. "I'll keep an eye out these next few days as well..."
In the guest quarters of the Paoli clan.
Xiao Yi looked at Kang Jingming, somewhat puzzled, and asked, "Junior Brother Kang, why didn't you tell the Paoli clan that Wei Zhao is extremely formidable? That even a Great Perfection expert might not be his match? What if they fail?"
"Heh heh, fail? I'm not afraid of them failing—I'm afraid of them *not* failing!" Kang Jingming gave a sinister chuckle. "Eldest Senior Brother, I'm afraid you don't quite understand what I'm getting at. But think about it: if Wei Zhao kills or cripples one of the Paoli clan, won't they become sworn enemies? Why do you think our Five Luminaries Sect is so desperate to see Wei Zhao dead? Isn't it precisely because our people have suffered heavy casualties at his hands?"
"That's right!" Xiao Yi slapped his forehead, suddenly enlightened. "Junior Brother Kang, I never expected this—you're truly a strategist. I bow to you. No wonder our Master favors and relies on you!"
"Haha, it's all just scheming and trickery, nothing worth mentioning." Kang Jingming waved his hand, laughing it off with an air of indifference.
"Regardless, if we can take out Wei Zhao this time, you and I will have rendered great service—and won justice for my junior brothers as well!" Xiao Yi nodded.
By now, Wei Zhao's car was slowly approaching the Hakunamata Desert.
"Mr. Lin, the Hakunamata Desert lies just ahead. Shall we go to the Paoli clan first, or to my home?" Yu Dake asked.
Though his heart was set on home, he still had to seek Wei Zhao's opinion first.
"Let's go take a look at your family first. We'll have to search for the Paoli clan, after all, but your home we can visit directly," Wei Zhao said.
"Thank you, Mr. Lin!" Yu Dake was caught off guard by the delight, and said hurriedly.
With the route settled, Wei Zhao naturally closed his eyes to rest and let Yu Dake drive.
In truth, Yu Dake's home was not inside the Hakunamata Desert, but at its very edge. On the desert's frontier there was a small border town, and the Yu family had once been a prominent clan of that town.
But that was more than ten years ago. The town's residents had long since forgotten the Yu family—after all, to the outside world the Yu family was merely a large clan, and how would these ordinary folk know anything of cultivators?
So when other clans later appeared, they naturally took the Yu family's place in the secular world.
"It's been over ten years since I last came back here... The town has changed so much!" Yu Dake looked at the town, already trending toward modernization, with cars a common sight, and could not help but sigh with emotion.
After all, when he was a child, the main means of transport here had been horses and camels!
Yu Xiaoke also opened her eyes wide, gazing curiously at the local customs. She had been too young back then to remember anything, and had no impression of the town at all.
They drove all the way to a manor where the Yu family of Yu Dake's youth had once resided. But what struck Yu Dake as rather odd was that the manor looked immaculate and well-kept—not at all like the crumbling, dilapidated ruins of a place abandoned for over ten years.
How could that be? It was true that the Yu family had often given alms to the town's poor, and those people had voluntarily helped clean the manor regularly after the Yu family's decline. But what lay before him was certainly not the work of mere cleaning—and besides, no one could keep cleaning for over ten years straight. The Yu family was gone; what would they even be cleaning for?
Moreover, the further in they went, the clearer it became that the manor had been renovated.
"What are you three doing here? This is private property—trespassers die!" Just as Yu Dake was puzzling over this, a squad of black-clad men suddenly rushed out and surrounded the three of them!
In fact, Wei Zhao had sensed these men the moment they appeared. But unfamiliar with the local situation, he gave no sign and decided to see what would happen. After all, these men were mere small fry in Wei Zhao's eyes—their leader was nothing more than a Mystic Rank expert.
"And who are you? What are you doing here?" Yu Dake was taken aback. This was his own home—so why were there outsiders here? But while Wei Zhao's golden finger could discern the leader's strength, Yu Dake had no such ability and naturally could not tell.
"This is the Gu family's manor, and I am its head steward!" the leader declared arrogantly. "Judging by your looks, you're not from this town, are you? Leave at once and I'll let it slide. Otherwise—heh heh—you won't be leaving at all!"
"The Gu family?" Yu Dake had never heard of any Gu family, and was momentarily stunned. "You've got quite the nerve. The Gu family's territory, you say? This is clearly my Yu family's manor—how did it become the Gu family's?"
"What Yu family? Boy, I'd say you've come looking for trouble, haven't you?" The head steward had never heard of any Yu family, and so instinctively assumed Yu Dake was here to make a scene.
"Looking for trouble?" Yu Dake frowned. "Who's in charge here? Have him come out and see me! This is plainly my family's land—how did it get seized by someone else?"
Yu Dake was no longer worried about the house itself, but rather whether the hidden chamber had been discovered—for it held some of the Yu family's ancient texts!
By now, Wei Zhao had finally grasped the situation: so Yu Dake's home had been occupied! Granted, the place had sat empty for over ten years with no one living there, but to simply seize it outright like this was still hardly justifiable—it simply didn't hold up to reason!
Of course, Wei Zhao did not rush to assert himself. If the other side was willing to negotiate and hand the place over, then there was nothing Wei Zhao could do to them. Wei Zhao was a reasonable man; he would not lash out and injure people at random.
"I say you're clearly here to make trouble! And you want to see our Old Master Gu? In your dreams!" The head steward gave a disdainful snort. "Boy, don't say I didn't warn you—if you don't leave now, I'll kill you, understand? Don't you know that in this town, the Gu family calls the shots?"
Yu Dake was furious on the spot! He had meant to talk things over reasonably, but now?
