Chapter 3400 — A Sense of Unease
"Right!" A flicker of gratitude crossed Tang Yuyi's face. He ventured, "Then may I call you Brother Lin from now on… Brother Lin, my sister, she's currently…"
Still, Tang Yuyi felt a little muddled. If he called Wei Zhao Brother Lin, then surely he was Wei Zhao's brother-in-law? But now he dared not address him so casually.
"Your sister?" Wei Zhao was briefly taken aback. "Who is your sister?"
"Ah, er…" Tang Yuyi had meant to cozy up to Wei Zhao after seeing his good mood, but at the mere mention of his sister, Wei Zhao wore that expression again, and he clamped his mouth shut at once. "Nothing…"
"Don't go filling your head with all sorts of nonsense. I've already got more than enough women around me—none of that matchmaking business…" Wei Zhao had misread Tang Yuyi, assuming he meant to offer his sister to him.
"Huh?" Tang Yuyi blinked, more puzzled than ever. He could not tell what Wei Zhao meant by that—had he and Tang Zhi already broken up?
At that thought, Tang Yuyi did not dare say more. To his mind, it must be Snow Valley stirring up trouble and souring Wei Zhao's mood, but this was a quarrel among immortals, and he had no place in it. He could only lower his head and follow Wei Zhao all the way to the hotel restaurant.
Wei Zhao took some dishes, though not many—the room was full of women, and they could not eat that much anyway.
Seeing Tang Yuyi treading so carefully, Wei Zhao had no idea what had gotten into him again, or which of his own words had made him so wary. But there was nothing to be done; if Tang Yuyi insisted on being so cautious, there was little more he could say.
Back in the room, everyone except Wang Xinyan was awake, though it did not disturb her. They all knew she had spent a great deal of energy the night before, and whether she would wake before noon was still uncertain.
Wei Zhao gave breakfast to Shen Yushu, Qiu Lingshan, and Yu Xiaoke, then arranged the energy stones evenly around Wang Xinyan, and quietly watched them enjoy their meal, savoring the stillness of the moment.
Ever since arriving in Songshan City, Wei Zhao's life seemed to have been thrown into sudden chaos. Troubles of every kind had come knocking, giving him not a moment's rest, and even now he had to keep striving for that plan of the Inheritor's—a rare moment of leisure indeed.
This leisure, however, could last only through the morning…
Early that morning, Doctor Yin hurried to An Liwen's room.
"Doctor Yin, what about it—have you found a solution?" Seeing Doctor Yin arrive, An Liwen was both surprised and delighted. He had been waiting all this time for news from him.
"Yes, it's like this, Young Master Wen. My martial uncle watched the footage of Wei Zhao fighting the biohumans and offered a few suggestions," Doctor Yin said. "He says Wei Zhao's moves are very fierce and forceful. Our biohumans may have strong attack power, but they can't take a beating. Against low-tier fighters that's no problem, but against Wei Zhao it's very likely they'll be cut down before they can cut him down. Even with late Heaven-rank strength, it won't help—Wei Zhao will finish them one blow apiece. Six blows at most, and they'll all be done for."
"This…" An Liwen thought it over carefully, and it really was so. Doctor Yin's words were dispiriting, but he had to admit the truth of them. He thought for a moment, then said, "Then is there a solution? Are we just to let Wei Zhao off?"
"Letting him off is impossible. My martial uncle also advises we take this chance to kill Wei Zhao, so his suggestion is to inject the biohumans with Serums One, Two, and Four!" Doctor Yin said. "That way our biohumans will not only gain strength but also show a marked resistance to blows. So long as their heads aren't destroyed, they can keep attacking even with an arm or a leg missing!"
"Oh? Then let's do that!" An Liwen nodded, overjoyed. "So what's the problem?"
"There are problems. The side effect is that the effect lasts only twenty minutes. So the serum must be injected in the car, and the hypnosis done in the car as well—not a single moment can be wasted," Doctor Yin said.
"That can be arranged. Have Little Pure go along with the hypnotist!" An Liwen said.
"That could work, but I'm afraid it might expose us," Doctor Yin said after a moment's hesitation. "Wei Zhao won't be able to pick out Little Pure and the others, will he? Back then they posed as Lang Nima and Cui Mianshi to swindle Liu Tianli…"
"Stay in the car and don't get out—what's there to expose? Wei Zhao doesn't have X-ray eyes. He thinks he's Yang Zhao or something!" An Liwen waved his hand dismissively.
"Er, Young Master Wen, you know Yang Zhao too?" Doctor Yin was slightly startled. He had not expected An Liwen to know of Yang Zhao—that was core top-secret business behind the Fire Wolf Gang!
"Yes, isn't he our ultimate enemy? Miss Lan has already told me," An Liwen said flatly. He was now held in high regard by Miss Lan and had begun bit by bit to come into contact with the Fire Wolf Gang's core secrets.
"Very good, Young Master Wen. Then I'll go make the arrangements," Doctor Yin said with a nod. He said no more and went off to prepare.
Around noon, a white van drove toward the antique shop that hid the Tang family. This time An Liwen meant to lure Wei Zhao out, so he had not even bothered to change vehicles, still using the same one as before—all to draw Wei Zhao's attention.
Little Pure was at the wheel. Before setting out, he had handed certain matters over to Little Madwoman. This operation left him vaguely uneasy; he kept feeling it would fail, yet there was no way to say so plainly to An Liwen—An Liwen would surely curse him roundly for being a worrier.
So, to carry on Big Mule's spirit, Little Pure had groomed Little Madwoman into his successor. If he truly met with disaster today, then Little Madwoman would take his place and become the next Big Mule.
In the van, besides Little Pure, there were the hypnotist and three biohuman subjects. These three were already the limit of Doctor Yin's capability—of the six biohuman subjects, half had died on the spot when the experiment failed, and these remaining three were still usable. (To be continued.)RU
