Chapter 3412 — The Simplest Way

The Blossom Guardian

It was true that people had come looking for trouble at the poison-refining base before, but those people had either been seized by the base's skilled fighters and dragged off to be boiled down into drugs, or—if they were tough customers—they had been driven away by the Poli clan.

Still, those people had always come in gangs and packs. Someone like Wei Zhao, arriving all alone, was genuinely a rare sight.

"What are you laughing at? What's so funny? Don't tell me that unless I show a bit of my strength, you two won't understand that there's always a bigger fish in the sea?" As Wei Zhao spoke, he revealed the strength of the early Earth rank!

He suppressed his power to the early Earth rank, and the two big men never noticed that Wei Zhao was in fact an expert of the mid Heaven rank!

"That's all the strength you've got?" The two big men were somewhat dumbfounded when they saw Wei Zhao's strength. In their eyes, anyone who dared come here to pick a fight had to have some ability—at the very least a Heaven rank expert. And yet here was Wei Zhao, a mere early Earth rank nobody, acting so full of himself. Truly, ignorance breeds fearlessness!

"What do you mean, all the strength I've got? Don't you know that in the secular world, an Earth rank expert is already a tremendously formidable existence? I've hardly even seen a Yellow rank or Mystic rank expert!" Wei Zhao said with great swagger.

"..." The two big men were truly at a loss for words. Where in the world had this lone cultivator come from? Had he never heard of the hidden clans or the ancient sects? And he thought Earth rank was a tremendously formidable existence?

Among lone cultivators, it was indeed a formidable level, but at this ancient-tier level, such a person was nothing more than a lowly underling. The two of them were themselves only early Heaven rank in strength!

However, after learning Wei Zhao's strength, the two men immediately exchanged a glance, then suddenly seized Wei Zhao from left and right!

"You... what are you doing? Don't blame me for being rude!" Wei Zhao was greatly alarmed and shouted at once.

"Heh. Kid, a piddling early Earth rank like you putting on airs with the two of us—you really don't know the height of the heavens or the depth of the earth!" As they spoke, the two big men also revealed their early Heaven rank strength: "Kid, if you don't want to die, then stay still and be good. Otherwise, I'll make sure your death has real value!"

By "real value," of course, he meant killing Wei Zhao and then delivering the corpse to those doctors for research.

"Ah... you're actually Heaven rank experts! How is that possible? Isn't this just the poison-refining base of some criminal gang? How could such powerful experts be here?" Wei Zhao's face drained of color in shock.

"Hah! I don't mind telling you—we belong to an internationally renowned criminal organization. Heaven rank experts, we've got plenty!" Of course, that "plenty" was only meant to frighten Wei Zhao. In truth there were not many at all—this poison-refining base had only the two of them, and even Lou Qitian was no Heaven rank expert.

"Ah, I'm sorry, I was just passing through. I'll be going now, please let me leave..." Wei Zhao trembled from head to toe in fright as he hurriedly spoke.

"Want to leave now? Too bad—it's too late!" the big man said coldly. "Since you've come, you might as well stay."

"No, you can't do this. My companions know I came here—they'll come looking for me. I'm not alone..." Wei Zhao cried out.

"Oh, that's just perfect. When they come, we'll catch them all together," the big man said mildly. Wei Zhao was only an early Earth rank expert—how powerful could his companions possibly be?

"Ahhhh! Let me go, I'm very strong..." Wei Zhao shouted loudly. But his goal had already been achieved—namely, to infiltrate the poison-refining base. There was no simpler or easier method than this one.

Though Wei Zhao was highly skilled, the place was heavily guarded, with sentries and surveillance cameras everywhere. Getting in would not be particularly easy for him, and once inside he would have to conceal his identity and avoid being seen, which would make the investigation all the more difficult.

But now that Wei Zhao had been captured and taken inside, he could investigate openly and boldly. Since these people had captured Pangolin to refine drugs, Wei Zhao would deliver himself to their door and let them catch him—and sure enough, they had caught him.

Escorted in on both sides, he was brought into the poison-refining base. Very quickly one of the big men went to report to Lou Qitian—but for a small-fry early Earth rank who had come here causing trouble, Lou Qitian had not the slightest interest in taking a look. He simply told the two big men to send Wei Zhao off to be converted into a bio-human.

Wei Zhao was taken by the two men directly into what looked like a laboratory inside the poison-refining base. The person who received Wei Zhao was a middle-aged man in a white lab coat.

The black-clad big man who had not gone to report shoved Wei Zhao down onto a chair, then asked sternly, "Kid, what's your name?"

"Ling Yi. What, scared now that you know? Starting to probe into my background?" Wei Zhao asked with feigned arrogance.

"Haha!" The big man burst out laughing. "Ling Yi, is it? What a lousy name. Never heard of it. From today on, your name is 9527. That will be your lifelong designation here, never to change."

"9527?" Wei Zhao was briefly taken aback. That number was actually rather auspicious.

"Search him for all his mobile devices, then lock him up with handcuffs and shackles. I'm going to begin the conversion," the man in the white coat said mildly.

"Yes, Doctor." The big man nodded and began searching Wei Zhao. After searching for quite a while, he found no mobile phone or the like—only a pill bottle containing a single Small-Return Pill.

"What crap is this." He casually tossed it back to Wei Zhao, not even interested in keeping it. "9527, where's your phone?"

"What would we cultivators want with a phone?" Wei Zhao said, startled.

"Didn't think you'd be a penniless wretch. Give him the injection," the big man said, taking out handcuffs and shackles and chaining Wei Zhao to the chair so he could not move.

The chair was made of fine steel and mystic iron; an ordinary cultivator could never break free. So after shackling Wei Zhao, the big man leisurely went off to one side to rest.

This time, it was the Doctor's turn to begin the conversion of Wei Zhao!

"What is this thing? Good heavens, I've heard that everyone brought in here gets converted into a bio-human. I'm not going to be one too, am I?" Wei Zhao cried out in alarm.

"Bio-humans are old history. This is the newest serum—it will let you keep your own will, but when you're working, it can drain your physical strength to the limit," the Doctor said mildly. "Keeping your own will makes you easier to manage. If you want to survive here, you must obey and work hard. Only those who work hard will be given food!"

"Don't think that just because you're cultivators you don't need to eat. Here, cultivation is impossible—there is no spiritual energy of heaven and earth at all. It's all been polluted by the waste fumes from the drugs."
