Chapter 3464 — A Heavy Heart

The Blossom Guardian

"What about those other two?" Wei Zhao asked.

"I had Tu Feng take care of them," Kun Cun said.

"Taken care of?" Wei Zhao started. "Who told you to take care of them?"

"You did, Brother Wei Zhao—didn't you say you never wanted to see them again and wanted them thrown out?" Kun Cun said, also taken aback.

"Oh?" Wei Zhao thought it over and could not help a wry smile. "What I meant was simply for you to let them go, to pay them no more mind. But since they're dead, then dead they are—those two were a nasty sort anyway, and keeping them around would only be trouble..."

By now Bai Weituo felt a touch of sympathy for Zhang Duopan. The man's death was truly not worth it—and what he never could have imagined was that Zhang Duopan had died by his own words. Truly, disaster comes out of the mouth.

"I'm really sorry... I thought..." Kun Cun was somewhat embarrassed too.

"Forget it, it's nothing. By the way, are you free today?" Wei Zhao asked.

"No, what orders does Brother Wei Zhao have?" Kun Cun asked quickly. In his heart he thought: even if I did have plans, I'd have to cancel them—what could possibly be more important than helping Brother Wei Zhao?

"Nothing much. Take Bai Weituo and Er Gou Dan around and show them a good time. They don't know the place, and wouldn't know where to go. With a local snake like you, things will be much easier," Wei Zhao said.

"No problem!" Kun Cun said. "As it happens, I haven't had much fun since I came to Southeast Asia either. This chance Brother Wei Zhao is giving me is really quite good!"

Wei Zhao shook his head. Kun Cun really was a flatterer!

As for sightseeing, Wei Zhao would not be joining them himself. He planned to cultivate in his room—his time was running short, and he had to raise his strength as early as possible!

With a local snake like Kun Cun leading them about, Bai Weituo and Er Gou Dan were in for quite a time. The security guards at nearly every entertainment venue knew Kun Cun, and while they gave him face, they were also astonished—since when had Kun Cun taken up work as a tour guide?

And who were these two—some masters or young gentlemen from somewhere—that Kun Cun would treat them with such courtesy?

But think it as they might, no one was so rude as to ask. Over the course of a week, Bai Weituo and Er Gou Dan toured every interesting sight and amusement the area had to offer. Kun Cun saw them onto their return flight, while Wei Zhao would go directly to X Island and so would not accompany them back.

Under his master's development and management in years past, X Island had become a famous tourist resort, with several flights arriving and departing each day, so Wei Zhao reached X Island Airport with great ease.

Just as on his last return, a car with the Dior butterfly emblem was parked not far from the apron outside the airport.

Wei Zhao smiled faintly. Only Yang Qiqi's and Xiao Jiu's cars could drive into the airport unimpeded; the two of them were like princesses on X Island, and no one dared stop their cars.

After getting off the plane, Wei Zhao walked toward the car. The people inside had clearly seen him too—Yang Qiqi leapt excitedly from the driver's seat and ran toward Wei Zhao, while inside the car, Xiao Jiu was smiling and waving to him through the open window!

"Brother Wei Zhao!" Yang Qiqi ran over and flung herself onto him, hugging him and refusing to let go.

In that moment, Wei Zhao felt as if he had returned to childhood. Back then, every time he came back from a mission, Yang Qiqi had been like this—and after her confession last time and the knot in her heart being untied, Yang Qiqi had gone back to her old self!

Only this time, when Wei Zhao saw Xiao Jiu, his feelings were still quite complicated. Last time they met, he had not dared face her feelings; this time, it was because Xiao Jiu was about to leave!

Lately Wei Zhao had nearly become a professional see-er-off of inheritors—his daily work was escorting inheritors to their sects!

"Xiao Jiu, you came too?" Wei Zhao adjusted his mood, and after getting into the car with Yang Qiqi, greeted Xiao Jiu.

"I'm leaving soon, so I wanted one more look at this island where the three of us lived together for so many years as children... Who knows when I'll be able to come back after I leave! And even if I do, my family might not let me stay on X Island—they might keep me at the Huangtu Gao Sect..." A shade of sorrow flickered in Xiao Jiu's eyes.

Xiao Jiu's words drew a faint sigh from Wei Zhao. Indeed, Xiao Jiu's rejection of the Huangtu Gao Sect was like Yu Ning's rejection of the hidden Yu family! But in the end, these were their homes; though they said they hated them, after some time had passed, they would still want to return!

Wei Zhao gave a dry laugh and did not take up that thread, turning instead to Yang Qiqi. "Qiqi, the Overseas Cultivators Association hasn't come looking for trouble with you since, have they?"

This time Wei Zhao had become a sworn enemy of the Overseas Cultivators Association, and he truly feared they might reach out to Yang Qiqi.

"No, I haven't gone back for a while now, and they haven't come looking for me on their own," Yang Qiqi said, shaking her head.

"That's good..." Wei Zhao nodded.

Happy days are always fleeting. During his few days on X Island, Wei Zhao took Yang Qiqi and Xiao Jiu to revisit old haunts, touring the whole island thoroughly, and made them mud fish and many other childhood delicacies...

And the day of Xiao Jiu's departure was drawing near! Tu Bawang flew to X Island, and that morning, Wei Zhao and the others met the long-unseen Tu Bawang at the airport.

Tu Bawang was still thrilled to see Wei Zhao. "Brother-in-law leader, hello there! So happy to see you, I've missed you to death. I heard you went to Huoyan Mountain a few days ago and cured Yang Shuizhen?"

Tu Bawang's words came like a string of firecrackers, packed with information, leaving Wei Zhao no time to answer!

"Xiao Jiu, you've grown so pretty! Worthy of being Tu Bawang's little sister, wahahaha!" Seeing Xiao Jiu, Tu Bawang looked her up and down, very affectionate and very happy.

"..." Xiao Jiu rolled her eyes in exasperation. How had she ended up with a lunatic for a brother! Brother Wei Zhao, your leader, is so normal—couldn't you be a little normal too?

"Wow, you can roll your eyes, that's so cool!" Tu Bawang did not notice in the least that Xiao Jiu was annoyed with him, thinking she was playing with him, and chattered on...

And so, amid Tu Bawang's endless chatter, Wei Zhao and Xiao Jiu boarded the plane and set off for the Huangtu Gao Sect...

The plane rose slowly into the air. Wei Zhao did not know when he would return to this island after leaving this time. The new journey was drawing ever nearer, and all the preparations before seemed to have been for the opening of that ethereal Yunjie Island!

Although Wei Zhao and Xiao Jiu both received warm hospitality at the Huangtu Gao Sect—Wei Zhao especially, treated like a distinguished guest, with the whole sect, including Tu Bawang's father Tu Qingsong, showing him the utmost courtesy—Wei Zhao's heart was still heavy.

After a few days of fun at the Huangtu Gao Sect, Wei Zhao received a call from Guan Xin. Her father was preparing to arrange a blind date for her—and Wei Zhao, too, had to go back... RS
