Chapter 3530 — The Wrong Person

The Blossom Guardian

Having taken Xue Li's key, Tang Zhi went to the room next door; Xue Li, for her part, washed up with an easy mind and went to bed early...

Wei Zhao had a room to himself as well.

After washing, Wei Zhao found it hard to settle into cultivation. And truth be told, his strength had already reached the pinnacle of those beneath the Heavenly Dao—whether he cultivated or not made little difference now.

So inevitably, with nothing to do, he thought of Tang Zhi.

Not since that trip back to West Star Mountain Village had he been close to Tang Zhi.

True, at the time he had forgotten her, but now that he remembered, Wei Zhao could not shake the feeling that he had not seen Tang Zhi in ages. Were Xue Li not present during the day, he would have wanted to speak with Tang Zhi alone.

But with Xue Li watching him like a hawk, there was nothing he could do.

Tonight, however, everyone was sleeping in separate rooms. Wei Zhao hesitated a moment, then crept out of his room on tiptoe.

With anyone else he might have been more cautious, but Tang Zhi was, in the truest sense, his first girlfriend, and when the two of them had been together, their relationship had in fact been very close.

They had not shared a bed, but it had been close enough—had the business at Snow Valley not happened afterward, Wei Zhao and Tang Zhi would likely have been living together long ago.

And so, slipping into Tang Zhi's room at night carried no psychological burden for Wei Zhao at all.

Never mind the ordinary key locks of a small inn like this—even electronic doors would have been child's play to him, with the burglar's skills of picking locks and slipping through doors that he had learned from his martial uncle.

Wei Zhao had noted Tang Zhi's room number beforehand, so he eased the door open, shut it quietly behind him, and groped his way into the room in the dark.

Tang Zhi ought to have been asleep already. She was lying on her side with her back to him. Wei Zhao did not wake her; he simply stripped off his pajamas and climbed onto the bed.

He had no intention of doing anything, but he caught sight of the bare shoulder she had left exposed—plainly, she had gone to bed without pajamas after her bath that evening.

Once on the bed, Wei Zhao reached around from behind and gathered Tang Zhi into his arms—only to find his hands closing on a mound of softness that made him pause in surprise.

He had never touched them before, but he had been able to judge by eye that Tang Zhi's should not have been this large—otherwise she could never have lost so many battles to Shen Yushu over exactly this. And now Tang Zhi's size was plainly much bigger!

Even if she still did not rival Shen Yushu at the very top, she was considerably larger than before. Wei Zhao was rather taken aback—could cultivation really have a breast-enhancing effect?

Xue Li had been worn ragged these past few days. Tang Zhi's failure to break through to the great perfection of the heaven tier weighed on her too. It was a grave matter for Snow Valley, and she fretted over it daily, exhausted in body and mind. So after her bath, she had lain down on the comfortable big bed and drifted off in a daze.

She had slept a while when she suddenly felt as though someone had climbed onto her bed... Xue Li was instantly alarmed! She was an expert of heaven-tier great perfection—unless the other party was also a heaven-tier great-completion expert, no one could have escaped her senses...

Still muzzy, she was just trying to determine whether someone had really come in when she felt a large hand close over her breast. Xue Li gave a violent start and snapped fully awake, shouting from the bed: "You lecher! Prepare to die!"

"Ah?" Wei Zhao was badly startled too, and with a whoosh he leaped up from the bed! That was plainly not Tang Zhi's voice—wasn't that Xue Li's voice? Where was Tang Zhi? Wasn't this Tang Zhi's room?

Click—Xue Li flicked on the lamp by the bed. She was about to strike when she saw that the person standing across from her was actually Wei Zhao! And Wei Zhao was completely naked, wearing nothing at all. Xue Li was struck dumb, gave a cry of shock, and hurriedly clapped both hands over her eyes, beside herself with rage: "Wei Zhao, you're shameless!"

Had it been anyone else, Xue Li would have struck at once to take their life. But the man before her was Wei Zhao, and she knew well enough that she was no match for him, so she only glared at him without lifting a hand.

Yet as she covered her eyes, it dawned on her with a jolt that she too was wearing nothing—so by turning on the light, hadn't she exposed herself completely?

Xue Li lowered her hands from her eyes, meaning to cover herself, but the more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt! She was nearly thirty this year, yet she still had the heart of a young girl—after all, she had grown up within an ancient sect and had no contact with the outside world. Her only knowledge of it came from books.

So to have been seen all over by Wei Zhao, and touched as well—she felt utterly wronged. Why was her luck so bad?

Xue Li plopped down on the bed, hugged her knees to her chest, curled into a ball, and began to sob. That, in turn, left Wei Zhao somewhat at a loss!

He had had no idea that the person in this room was Xue Li; had he known, he would never have been so reckless. But now that trouble had arisen, there was nothing for it. He had expected Xue Li to beat him, and he had been prepared to take the blows without hitting back and the scolding without talking back—after all, the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art could heal him, no matter how badly he was hurt!

But now Xue Li neither struck nor scolded—she simply wept, and Wei Zhao truly did not know how to respond. He could only brace himself and say: "Xue Li, I'm sorry, this is a misunderstanding. I thought the person in the room was Tang Zhi..."

Xue Li paid him no heed and went on sobbing. Wei Zhao sighed helplessly, sat down beside her, and watched her quietly.

Wei Zhao did not know how old Xue Li really was—why was she acting like a child? From appearances alone, she should be only in her early twenties; she must have broken through to the heaven tier in her twenties, after which her looks had frozen forever.

So she could be in her twenties, or she could be eighty or a hundred and more. Wei Zhao waited until her weeping had quieted a little, then went on: "Xue Li, don't cry. We're both adults, and top-tier experts at that—you shouldn't take this too much to heart... our goal is to reach Cloud Terrace Island..."

"Don't you know that men and women should keep their distance?" Xue Li raised her head and glared at Wei Zhao. "Tell me, what's to be done about this?"

"I... I go back now, and we act as if nothing ever happened—would that do?" Wei Zhao asked. In truth, had she been an ordinary modern woman, Wei Zhao's suggestion would very likely have been accepted—after all, neither of them had really lost anything.

At most, she would have Wei Zhao compensate her with something or other.
