Chapter 3541 — You're Such a Busybody
"Yes, yes!" Patriarch Xuanchen was startled—what did that mean? Death? But Libationer Nantian said no more, and he dared not ask further. Yet this was all for the better. He had originally planned to target Wei Zhao at the Heaven-Rank Assembly and announce a piece of news detrimental to him. True, that news could deal Wei Zhao a blow, but even so, he had feared provoking Wei Zhao's backlash!
After all, those Inheritors were all in league with Wei Zhao. Covert coercion was one thing, but if they flew into a rage and stood shoulder to shoulder with Wei Zhao in common hatred, that would be no fun at all! But now, since none of the Inheritors would attend the Heaven-Rank Assembly, Wei Zhao would truly be a lone hand that could not clap!
Of the trial participants at the Assembly, not one would support Wei Zhao; each had only his own interests at heart. And especially with those two great fiends, Zhong Yongliang and Zhang Naipao, taking the lead, they would certainly not dare oppose his decisions!
Zhong Yongliang and Zhang Naipao were hardly pushovers, after all—whoever refused to submit was simply killed outright! These two were a headache even for Patriarch Xuanchen. If his mind were to lapse for a single instant under Zhong Yongliang's dread pressure, and then Zhang Naipao were to follow with his Bee-Devouring Divine Art, he would be in peril!
So that was also why, the moment Zhang Naipao had recovered, he had at once expressed goodwill toward the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect!
"Good. Go post the announcement and have the trial participants all return—make preparations for landing on Cloud Terrace Island!" Libationer Nantian said.
"Yes!" Patriarch Xuanchen said hurriedly.
"Mm. Then I shall go and rest first," Libationer Nantian said.
"Of course, please do!" Patriarch Xuanchen said.
After that, Libationer Nantian walked straight through the wall before Patriarch Xuanchen's very eyes! With a whoosh, he vanished! Yet Patriarch Xuanchen seemed quite accustomed to it and showed no surprise at all...
The method of refining the jade pendant was much the same as last time, save that now, whatever materials Wei Zhao needed, the Inheritors' sects could help him seek out—and the Xuandan Sect, where Tianchan belonged, had everything in abundance!
So materials were no problem. And since Wei Zhao had already successfully condensed Heaven-Rank divine weapons, this upgrade and refinement of the jade pendant's space was a trifling matter!
In a single night's work, Wei Zhao succeeded in the refinement. Then he summoned Tang Zhi to his room.
"Wei Zhao, what did you call me over so early in the morning for?" Ever since Tang Zhi had discovered that her heart method and mnemonic verse were the Path of Affection, she and Wei Zhao no longer kept so many reservations between them, and Xue Li no longer interfered.
"I called you here to sleep," Wei Zhao said.
"Sleep?" Tang Zhi was taken aback. "What do you mean, sleep?"
"Sleep with me. Right now," Wei Zhao said.
"Ah?" Tang Zhi's eyes went wide; her face flushed. She stared at Wei Zhao. "What are you saying?"
"If you sleep with me, you'll break through," Wei Zhao said with a smile. He had only said it that way to tease her a little.
"Sleep with you, and I'll break through?" Tang Zhi was somewhat dumbfounded. "How could that be?"
"Heh, actually, it's like this—sit down and I'll explain slowly." Wei Zhao meant to tell Tang Zhi about the jade pendant's space. She was no outsider, after all—she was his first true girlfriend—and in a moment she would be entering the jade pendant's space herself. "Do you know why I cultivate so fast?"
"No idea. Isn't it because of the energy stones and Wang Xinyan?" Tang Zhi was puzzled.
"Er—Wang Xinyan came later. I mean the early days," Wei Zhao said. "In the early days, what I relied on was a jade pendant's space!"
"A jade pendant's space?" Tang Zhi looked at Wei Zhao, bewildered. "What jade pendant's space?"
"It's a place where I usually cultivate. If you're with me, once you fall asleep you can enter it," Wei Zhao said. "But first you have to be with me—holding my hand and close to me!"
This was not Wei Zhao trying to take advantage of Tang Zhi; it was simply the truth. For another person to enter the jade pendant's space, the two had to clasp hands—this first time, at least. Once the jade pendant's space had finished acknowledging its master, the next time Tang Zhi wished to enter, she could do so on her own: so long as she was within Wei Zhao's range and sent him a request signal, once Wei Zhao agreed, Tang Zhi could enter the jade pendant's space by herself!
"Oh? Really?" Tang Zhi listened to Wei Zhao as though hearing a tale from the heavens, feeling utterly lost in the clouds!
"Try it and you'll know!" Wei Zhao nodded.
Half-believing, half-doubting, Tang Zhi lay down beside Wei Zhao. Had she not trusted him absolutely, and known that Wei Zhao had no need of such a trick to lure her into bed, she might truly have thought he meant to take improper advantage of her!
Tang Zhi lay beside Wei Zhao, holding his hand. In an instant her breathing grew somewhat disordered. This was a scene she had once dreamed of and longed for—lying together with Wei Zhao, whispering secrets—yet before, it had seemed so very distant to her; and now it was so very real.
"Are you asleep?" Wei Zhao asked.
"Mm—no!" Tang Zhi shook her head. How could she possibly sleep? She was too excited for that.
"That won't do—if you don't sleep, you can't enter the jade pendant's space!" Wei Zhao said, somewhat helplessly.
"Mm, mm, I'll try my best." Tang Zhi closed her eyes.
"All right!" Wei Zhao nodded.
At last, after more than half an hour, Tang Zhi fell asleep—and Wei Zhao saw Tang Zhi within the jade pendant's space!
Tang Zhi had to sleep, but Wei Zhao no longer needed to; he could enter the jade pendant's space directly.
"Ah, where is this?" Tang Zhi, having just entered the jade pendant's space, seemed a little frightened. It was dark inside, all around an endless void, with no end in sight—and the jade pendant's space Wei Zhao used for storage was invisible to Tang Zhi. "Ah, who are you?"
Tang Zhi saw Jiaoyazi and recoiled two steps in shock!
"I'm the one who taught Little Yi to save you, that time Zhong Yongliang carried you off and drugged you," Jiaoyazi said smugly.
"Oh, it's you..." Tang Zhi nodded and said, "You're such a busybody!"
"Gah!" Jiaoyazi was stunned. He had been waiting for Tang Zhi to thank him—never expecting to be met with "You're such a busybody." For a moment he was beside himself with frustration and quite speechless!
"Haha!" Wei Zhao, entering the jade pendant's space, happened to catch Tang Zhi and Jiaoyazi's exchange, and could not help finding it rather funny; he burst out laughing!
Earlier Tang Zhi had assumed Wei Zhao had not come in because he saw she was not asleep, and that was why she had said it—never imagining that Wei Zhao had heard! RS
