Chapter 4152 — Growing Ever Harder to Deal With

The Blossom Guardian

"Artificial membranes?" Wei Shenjin had no idea what he was looking at. He examined the instructions inside more carefully, and when the full meaning finally crashed over him, his blood surged and his vision went black—he nearly keeled over on the spot.

Two artificial membranes, both already used, leaving nothing behind but two empty wrappers. And with that, everything at last became clear to him.

Sluts! Sluts! Sluts! If I do not kill the two of you, I, Wei Shenjin, swear I am no man for the rest of my days!

Wei Shenjin's eyes blazed with fire. He turned, went back into the room, took up the Snow Sword in hand, and strode toward the two women sleeping on the bed—all reason now ground beneath his heel.

He was a cripple anyway, with no hope of recovery. If he had to go on living with this great green hat jammed down over his head, what meaning would there be left in his life?

In Wei Shenjin's mind at this moment, all the hatred he bore that brute Ling Yi had been shifted entirely onto the heads of Situ Qian and her serving girl.

As he saw it, that whole business between Xue Li and the brute Ling Yi might never have been anything but a trap that Situ Qian had laid with her own hands, deliberately framing Xue Li and Ling Yi so that he would take the bait and marry her!

That woman—what a schemer she was!

And indeed that was the truth. Wei Shenjin was no fool; looking back now, there had been something distinctly fishy about everything that had happened before, and at last he had found the real answer.

"Situ Qian, you die tonight!" Snow Sword in hand, Wei Shenjin reached the side of the bed, every inch of his face a contorted mask of murderous madness. He knew that once he struck tonight, he would never escape a death of his own.

But he could not bring himself to care anymore. Even if he died, he would drag this pair of sluts down with him, and cut them into ten thousand pieces!

Yet just as Wei Shenjin steeled himself to strike, Situ Qian, half-undressed on the bed, seemed to sense something and turned over in her drowsy haze.

"Eh? What are you getting up for in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?" Situ Qian's bleary eyes slid half open, and she mumbled a question at Wei Shenjin standing at the bedside.

Wei Shenjin's heart lurched. It came to him then that the other party was no cripple like himself, but a cultivator at the peak of the Foundation Establishment stage, with senses sharp as a blade—and his Snow Sword was forged of thousand-year cold iron. Even without invoking any core technique of the Snow Sword Sect, simply drawing it from its sheath would plunge the temperature of the surrounding air, and that was what had roused Situ Qian.

Luckily, Situ Qian had drunk far too much beforehand, and had been carrying on day and night in bed. So although the cold had jolted her awake by instinct, she had not truly come to her senses—it was only drowsy muttering.

Even with the resolve to die together with her, now that Situ Qian was awake, Wei Shenjin knew he could no longer kill her. He could only find some pretext to bluff his way through and wait for another chance.

"Oh, nothing." Wei Shenjin hastily and unobtrusively set the Snow Sword aside, put on a face of urgent lecherous hunger, and swallowed hard at her. "I just think you're so beautiful, Qian'er, that I wanted to..."

"Wanted to go again? I don't recall giving you any medicine—why are you so ferocious today, so much more spirited than before? Come on then, come on, I'll make an exception and reward you one more time!" Situ Qian had indeed been diverted. She twisted and writhed, urging Wei Shenjin to climb on quickly—for such matters, she was never one to refuse.

Wei Shenjin's heart eased, and he let out a secret breath of relief. He hurried to answer and threw himself upon her—though in his eyes lay nothing but a cold, chilling glint...

In the Cultivator Academy, Nan Tianjiguang, Si Haitao, and the Mystic Dust Ancestor sat gathered together, deliberating over how to deal with Wei Zhao.

They had already resolved some time ago to strike while Wei Zhao was on his way back to North Island; for them, that was the best opportunity. Still, the risk was by no means small.

With their strength, killing Wei Zhao would pose no real difficulty. The real problem lay in what came afterward. What they had to worry about was whether Wei Zhao's death would enrage Di Xingdao—and, over on North Island, Shangguan Tianxia.

One of those two was in the Middle Island, the other in the North Island. Once word leaked out, either of them could crush them like insects at will—unless they holed up in the Central Merchants' Association and never again stepped out on business, in which case that mysterious figure could at least preserve their worthless lives.

"Killing that Wei Zhao is no trouble at all. The difficulty is making sure it can't be traced back to us, leaving no clues whatsoever. That's the crux of it," Si Haitao said, pinching his chin and frowning.

"Indeed. That old devil Di Xingdao is too fierce. If he ever learned that we killed Wei Zhao, given his lawless, mad-dog nature, he might well storm straight into the Cultivator Academy—and with that explosive power of his, no one but the Chancellor could stop him." Nan Tianjiguang nodded, still shaken by the thought.

"If we all wear masks and are a bit careful, surely we won't leave any clues? He may be powerful, but he's no god—he can't be omniscient and omnipotent, can he?" the Mystic Dust Ancestor could not help saying.

In his view, Nan Tianjiguang and Si Haitao were both being over-cautious. It was the classic case of the higher a man's station, the smaller his nerve. If they went masked, how could Di Xingdao possibly know it was them?

"Di Xingdao is indeed no god, nor omniscient or omnipotent. But at his level, with his abilities, if he truly wants to learn something, it's as easy as turning his hand. Mystic Dust, have you forgotten who Di Xingdao is?" Nan Tianjiguang shot him a glance.

"Who he is?" The Mystic Dust Ancestor was taken aback. He had genuinely never heard anyone speak of it.

"Quite so. And don't any of you forget that Di Xingdao is the Deputy Island Lord of the Middle Island! For a matter like this, all he need do is send out the Middle Island Law Enforcement Hall, and I fear the truth would be uncovered all too easily. We are no experts in such things—we must not grow careless!" Nan Tianjiguang echoed with a bitter smile.

"Uh... then by that logic, so long as it's our hand that moves, isn't it fated that he'll find out?" the Mystic Dust Ancestor said helplessly.

"It does seem that way. If we mean to kill Wei Zhao, wanting to take not the slightest risk seems well-nigh impossible." Nan Tianjiguang and Si Haitao both sighed.

If they could afford to provoke Di Xingdao, they would have gone straight for him long ago—why would they have shifted their sights to Wei Zhao? Yet after all their back-and-forth, they suddenly found that even dealing with the insignificant Wei Zhao was growing harder and harder. How could they not feel humiliated?

And yet, if they were simply to pull back now, that they were absolutely unwilling to do. They were, after all, figures of rank and standing. If they did not even dare kill a mere Wei Zhao, what the hell were they playing at? R1152
