Beneath his feet lay an ancient, simple, and brightly polished mirror, shattered into several pieces, fallen from the wall and scattered across the floor. And around him were the sturdy rocks of the ancient, plain cave wall—barely ten paces from where he had stepped into that wondrous cave mouth.

Those short ten paces, yet he seemed to have lived through a whole lifetime; all the painful memories had gone through their cycle once more.

Then, his breathing somewhat steadied, he gathered himself and was just about to continue deeper into the Illusory Moon Grotto-Heaven when suddenly his body went rigid, as though he had sensed something, and he slowly turned around.

With the shattering of that ancient mirror, the wondrous watery mist at the cave mouth also gradually dispersed, revealing a figure standing behind it.

Lin Jinghong.

Their gazes met in midair, and for a moment both were stunned.

For a long while they gazed at each other in silence—the eyes of two men, from boyhood to youth to this present moment, as though seeing through an entire lifetime in that one look.

Lin Jinghong's teeth sank deep into his lip, almost drawing blood, and then he said, word by word, "That old man in the Ancestral Hall—was it you who killed him?"

Ming Li was silent, his head slightly bowed. After a moment he nodded gently and said, "Yes."

In an instant, Lin Jinghong's eyes went red.
