The quaking grew swiftly from small to great, and in an instant became a violent force that shook the entire Huqi Mountain range. Far from the blood pool, in the caverns of the Nether King Sect, a despairing terror once more descended; in the Nether King's stone chamber, Ming Li and Master Gui suddenly raised their heads—an unprecedented reek of blood filled even this chamber, and the ground trembled violently. And after their first astonishment, the astrolabe before them, as though suddenly summoned by some mysterious power, at last underwent mutation once more.

Upon the astrolabe, all the jade blocks and ancient characters lit up in an instant, and the soft white light in the blink of an eye grew so bright one could not look at it; and the little jade blocks slid along at a speed suddenly ten times faster or more, whistling past the center of the astrolabe like lightning, as though the fate of heaven's number were all in that instant undergoing violent change.

Farther off, within the Cold Ice Stone Chamber, the violent quaking and the rubble raining down from the surrounding stone walls were no less than before. Amid this scene, like the end of the world, the Nether King slowly rose to his feet, a strange expression upon his face—like mad joy, like agitation, like savagery, like hunger and thirst—and his voice too turned low and hoarse, echoing faintly in the empty stone chamber: "This day... has it finally come?"

And at the summit of Huqi Mountain, the figure of Xiao Bai standing against the wind suddenly shuddered as well, tremors rising from beneath her feet. She had not been mistaken: the whole Huqi Mountain range was trembling, a sight never seen in ten thousand years, and it had come to pass this day.

Across her cold features passed a mocking smile, and suddenly she gathered her robes and rose, her white figure fluttering, and sped down the mountain; the direction she took was precisely toward the entrance of the Nether King Sect's cavern.
