Seeing her command to Wei Zhao fall on deaf ears, Shen Yushu felt quite put out, yet she dared not casually expose her relationship with him. She could only turn a pitiful look on Gu Mengyao.
"There's shade over there too. Let's go sit there." Gu Mengyao was not about to fight Wei Zhao for the shade the way Xiaoshu was.
"Ah... Yao Yao, but I like it here!" Shen Yushu didn't want to leave — she hadn't even heard what Wei Zhao and Tang Zhi were saying yet!
"Then stay here by yourself. I'm going." Gu Mengyao felt rather awkward. Wei Zhao was here picking up a girl — what was she supposed to look like, standing off to the side watching?
"Oh, fine..." Seeing that Gu Mengyao had already started walking away, Shen Yushu had no choice but to follow along toward the shade on the other side.
Gu Mengyao found a clean step and sat down, took out her MP4, and played an episode of Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, and together with Shen Yushu she began to watch...
Yet although Shen Yushu's eyes were on the MP4, they kept drifting over to Wei Zhao's side, hoping to see what he was up to. But he remained as lazy and listless as ever, and wasn't billing and cooing with Tang Zhi at all. Suddenly finding it all rather uninteresting, she turned her attention back to Gu Mengyao's MP4.
"What are they... up to? Why so strange?" Tang Zhi could not quite make sense of what Shen Yushu was playing at. She had come over, snapped a couple of rebukes at Wei Zhao, and then left again. What was that supposed to mean?
"You mean Shen Yushu? Pay her no mind. That girl is always off in her own world, half-crazy. Who knows what she's thinking about from morning till night." Wei Zhao shrugged.
Hearing this, Tang Zhi gave him a rather peculiar look. Her intuition told her that Wei Zhao was hiding something from her, though she could not say what. "You know her well?"
"She's in my class. Of course I know her..." Wei Zhao nodded vaguely.
"Oh... does she like you?" Tang Zhi never said anything without startling the room.
"Huh?!" Wei Zhao's eyes went wide, and he stared at Tang Zhi in astonishment. "What did you say? She likes me?"
Shen Yushu had indeed confessed to him once, but that had been a sham... Wei Zhao did not think Shen Yushu could actually like him. The girl was a bit childish in her thinking; surely she had not yet reached the stage of liking boys?
"Nothing..." Tang Zhi shook her head. It had only been a sudden feeling just now, a sense that there was something odd about Shen Yushu coming over to pick a quarrel for no reason and then leaving. But on second thought, it seemed impossible. How could she possibly like Wei Zhao?
Wei Zhao had lost all appetite for the meal thanks to Shen Yushu and Gu Mengyao not far away. It felt as though he were being watched by a boss. Listlessly, he rose to his feet and said, "Let's go. Back to the classroom..."
"Mm..." Tang Zhi, too, felt awkward with two people watching them from the side. At Wei Zhao's words, she stood up as well, and together they headed toward the teaching building.
"Sister Yaoyao... Vanguard Bro has left!" Shen Yushu had in fact been watching Wei Zhao the whole time.
"Then let him leave." Gu Mengyao frowned and went on watching the MP4 in her hands.
"I thought we might see something fun, but they only sat there a little while." Shen Yushu sounded rather disappointed.
