"That's right, Brother An. Back in the day, we Four Young Masters of Songshan were something to behold! Now even these little security guards push us around!" Su Taizao said indignantly.
"Heh, it's just that Brother Lin dresses a bit plainly and his car is a little unusual, so that guard judged him by appearances!" An Liwen smiled, deliberately slipping in a quiet jab at Wei Zhao.
Wei Zhao understood perfectly well that An Liwen was mocking him for having no money and being unworthy of Gu Mengyao, but he did not mind. The reason he had come here today was that the Young Miss had sent him, and incidentally to teach the two of them a lesson on Shen Yushu's behalf. Everything else was secondary.
Besides, when Wei Zhao had carried out missions in the past, he had even disguised himself as a beggar. Why would he care about such contemptuous looks? So he had not taken the little guard's earlier words to heart at all.
"Ha, true enough," Su Taizao instantly caught An Liwen's meaning and chimed in with a laugh. "Brother Lin, you ought to have Yaoyao buy you a few decent outfits. Going out like this is embarrassing!"
"She bought them. I didn't wear them." Wei Zhao smiled. He had naturally caught their meaning and replied mildly. Gu Mengyao had indeed bought him clothes, but when he went to school he usually wore his uniform.
"Taizao, what Brother Lin has is called keeping a low profile! How does that saying go? Playing the pig to eat the tiger!" An Liwen explained with a smile.
"Right, right! Playing the pig to eat the tiger! Low-key showing off!" Su Taizao nodded along.
The two of them were of course speaking ironically; in their eyes, Wei Zhao could not pull off any kind of act even if he tried.
Wei Zhao offered no explanation. Laugh it up, he thought. In a moment I'll have you crying.
An Liwen got off a few jibes at Wei Zhao's expense, venting the resentment that had been pent up inside him. He did not dare go too far, though, for fear Wei Zhao would lose his temper and stalk off. So before Wei Zhao could say a word, he raised a hand and summoned the waiter to serve the dishes.
The dishes had been ordered in advance. Before leaving Gu Mengyao's villa, An Liwen had phoned the hotel to have everything prepared ahead of time. So once he gave the waiter the word, one delicacy after another came marching out and was laid upon the table.
An Liwen stealthily pressed the record button on his phone. Placing the phone on the table had been deliberate; he had taken care to angle its camera at Wei Zhao, meaning to capture the fellow's humiliation.
In An Liwen's eyes, Wei Zhao had surely never tasted such rare delicacies as these. If he ate like a pig at a trough, the footage could be sent around as a laughingstock.
That, of course, was not the main event. The real highlight was the little show he had arranged for later.
"Brother Lin, make yourself at home. There are only three of us, so let's not stand on ceremony. Time to dig in!" An Liwen raised his glass. "Here, let me toast you. Last time you saved my life, so I won't waste words on thanks. It's all in the cup!"
"It was nothing, and it was Yaoyao's instruction anyway." Wei Zhao lifted his glass in turn, took a token sip, and set it down again. Then he began to eat, slowly and unhurriedly.
Seeing that Wei Zhao did not wolf down his food the way he had imagined, An Liwen was rather disappointed. But then he thought of the fine entertainment still to come and settled his mind. "Brother Lin, how about we call a few girls in to liven things up? Three grown men drinking by ourselves is a pretty dull affair!"
