Chapter 461 — The Shark Is Coming

Wei Zhao did not rush off to change into swim trunks like the other students. Instead he sat down on the beach, quietly watching the little creatures in the water. Clear seawater like this was rare in cities and tourist areas; Wei Zhao felt as though he had returned to his hometown.
When he was little, he and Ergoudan had often played by the sea. Of course, most of the time Wei Zhao had been forced by the old man to practice martial arts in the water, while Ergoudan—Wei Zhao really doubted the makeup of that boy's body; he himself could barely keep his footing in the churning waves, yet the kid stood firm as an iron pagoda.
"Why aren't you going to change into your swimsuit?" Feng Xiaoxiao, seeing that Wei Zhao had plopped down on the sand and was staring blankly into space the moment he arrived, came over in some puzzlement.
"I can't swim, so why would I change?" Wei Zhao said flatly. "Why aren't you going?"
"Because I want to stay by your side, of course!" Feng Xiaoxiao said, as though it were the most natural thing in the world.
Wei Zhao shook his head. His train of thought had been interrupted, so he turned his attention to the girls who had finished changing into their swimsuits. Eighteen-year-old girls—their delicate, graceful figures were already fully developed—and this was a fine opportunity to feast his eyes. What would the young miss and Shen Yushu look like in swimsuits? Compared with Gu Mengyao, Wei Zhao actually looked forward to seeing Shen Yushu in a swimsuit even more... Though he had seen photos of the two in swimwear, they were nothing like the visual impact of the real thing.
To Wei Zhao's disappointment, however, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had not changed into their swimsuits. Instead they set up a beach umbrella by the shore, and the two of them sat beneath it and began pulling snacks out of their schoolbags. So these two girls had come here for a picnic?
Then again, it made sense. Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had been to the seaside plenty of times; the hard drive of his own computer was nearly full of photos from their travels, many of them taken at the beach.
"There don't seem to be any sharks here," Shen Yushu said, gazing at the calm water with some disappointment.
"This is a tourist area. Naturally there wouldn't be any sharks," Gu Mengyao said.
"That little Liangzi actually dared to lie to me, saying he'd grill shark meat for me. I'll never believe him again!" Shen Yushu said indignantly.
"Even if there were, would you dare eat shark meat grilled by him?" Gu Mengyao curled her lip.
"Uh—" Shen Yushu thought of Zhong Yongliang soiling his pants on the plane and felt queasy. If Zhong Yongliang really did grill her shark meat, she probably wouldn't dare eat it either.
Seeing that most of the class had gone into the water, Gao Xiaofu strapped a shark fin to his back and quietly slipped in. But after paddling a few laps in the water, he found that none of his classmates were paying him any attention, and he grew a little anxious.
He did not dare go too close to the other students either, because the water in the shallows was so clear that if he went over, someone was bound to notice that his shark was a fake.
Still, he could hardly shout, "I'm a shark, the shark is coming!"
Zhong Yongliang was anxious too. He was supposed to play the hero who fought the shark, so the shark could not be the one he discovered first; it would be best if someone else found it first and frightened all the other students onto the shore, and only then would Zhong Yongliang step forward to show his prowess and "finish off" the shark!
Just as the two of them were both horribly anxious, Shen Yushu suddenly leaped up in excitement: "Yao Yao, it's a shark! The shark's here!"
