Chapter 517 — Feng Xiaoxiao's Wicked Scheme

Wei Zhao was pulled back to his senses by Feng Xiaoxiao's scream, and to his relief, she had truly woken up. His hands, meanwhile, were still clasping both of hers.
"You're awake?" Seeing that Feng Xiaoxiao was all right, Wei Zhao breathed a sigh of relief.
"You... what did you do to me?" The moment Feng Xiaoxiao woke, she discovered she was lying naked on the bed, with Wei Zhao "sleeping" right beside her — and most horrifying of all, there were traces of blood between her legs and on the sheets!
And so Feng Xiaoxiao, convinced she had been ravished, let out a piercing scream.
What baffled Wei Zhao was that she simply stared at him blankly. "Me? What did I do to you?"
"I... you..." Feng Xiaoxiao was indignant. Surely Wei Zhao wasn't going to deny it? She was lying naked in the same bed as him, and he had the gall to ask what he had done? The sheer nerve of it!
Though Feng Xiaoxiao knew her days were numbered, she was no loose woman, and there was no way she could simply pretend nothing had happened!
"What do you mean, 'I'?" Wei Zhao was a little nettled. He had not only saved her life, but now the girl thought he had taken advantage of her! After all, he had lost a level because of her, and he had not even settled that score yet. So he said, "Without me, you would have been dead long ago!"
"Ah!" Feng Xiaoxiao was struck dumb, and at once remembered what had happened before! The instant she opened her eyes, she had found herself naked in bed with Wei Zhao, with blood on her body and the sheets — so she had been thrown into a panic and assumed on instinct that something had happened between them. But after hearing Wei Zhao's words, she thought it over carefully: she had been taking a bath, then felt terribly unwell, and then fainted...
So then, it was Wei Zhao who had pulled her out of the bathroom and saved her? But how had he saved her? Even though Feng Xiaoxiao had never experienced it herself, she knew from the diary her mother had left behind that once those symptoms appeared, it was the moment of onset — meaning death was close at hand, and no doctor, however skilled, could save her!
Her earlier cry for help had been the instinctive urge to survive. She might have known she was going to die, but who ever truly wanted to die? Yet now Feng Xiaoxiao felt perfectly well, as though the symptoms had never been there at all. Could it really be that Wei Zhao had saved her?
"You... you saved me?" Feng Xiaoxiao asked, eyeing Wei Zhao uncertainly.
"Must you ask such pointless questions?" Wei Zhao smiled wryly.
"How... how did you save me?" Feng Xiaoxiao was curious. Hers was an incurable disease — her body felt fine now, true, but she still did not believe Wei Zhao could have saved her.
"That is not for you to know," Wei Zhao said flatly.
"Oh..." Feng Xiaoxiao did not press him further. Then she thought of the blood on her body and said, "Then what about the blood on me? You really didn't... with me..."
"I cut my arm when I carried you out of the bathroom!" Wei Zhao raised his arm — only to find, to his surprise, that the wound had mostly healed, leaving only a faint scar.
"Really?" Seeing the scar on Wei Zhao's arm, which looked nothing like a fresh wound, Feng Xiaoxiao grew suspicious. "Was this really just now?"
"Heh..." Wei Zhao shrugged and stood up indifferently. Whether Feng Xiaoxiao believed him meant nothing to him. "You'd better get dressed quickly, or when your father comes back he'll think I really did something to you."
"Ah!" Only then did Feng Xiaoxiao realize she was still naked! And Wei Zhao had been standing in front of her all this time — had he seen everything? She turned crimson. "You— turn around!"
"I've already seen it all. Not a bad figure." Wei Zhao felt no particular dislike for Feng Xiaoxiao, but neither could it be called fondness, so he spoke without restraint.
