Chapter 687 — Ruining a Good Thing

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

In Tang Zhi's eyes, the rival she faced now was the eldest Miss; as for Guan Xin, she did not seem to count as a rival at all.

Guan Xin finished preparing the medicine for several wards and delivered it herself. Only after she returned to the nurses' duty room did she say to Kang Xiaofeng and the others, "I'm done with my work. I can take Xiaofen for her follow-up now."

"All right, shall we go now, then?" Kang Xiaofeng rose to his feet.

"No need. I'll just take Xiaofen myself; you don't have to come along." Guan Xin did not want Kang Xiaofeng to tag along. Xiaofen's mental illness had been brought on by another man, and the doctor would likely ask some sensitive questions during the follow-up — questions that would be awkward for Kang Xiaofeng to hear, and awkward for them both. With that in mind, Guan Xin had decided not to bring him.

"Then... that works too. Sorry for the trouble!" Kang Xiaofeng was no fool. Seeing the look on Guan Xin's face, he had guessed something of what was going on, and so did not insist.

In her heart, Xiaofen was grateful for Guan Xin's thoughtfulness. She did not want Kang Xiaofeng to come either — to get a full picture of her condition, the doctor sometimes asked questions that were deeply embarrassing, going so far as to ask how many times she had slept with Kang Jingming. Such things truly could not be allowed to reach Kang Xiaofeng's ears.

Tang Zhi sensed Guan Xin's thoughtfulness too. A girl like that could hardly help drawing a boy's affection — but what was she to do? She could hardly ask Wei Zhao not to see her, could she? Tang Zhi was torn! It had taken her so long to finally open her heart, so why did everything have to be so bumpy?

She had assumed that with her looks, finding a boy who would care for her wholeheartedly would not be difficult. And that much had come true — he did care for her — but not one of the girls around him was inferior to her; on a holistic reckoning, some were even stronger. Tang Zhi truly did not know how to cope with it. She had not the slightest experience in such things.

Watching Guan Xin's departing back, Tang Zhi gave a soft sigh. Why was her luck so wretched? Every rival was so formidable — was she not even to be granted peace of mind?

Liu Xinlan caught the dejection in Tang Zhi's mood and patted her on the shoulder. "What's this? Getting all knotted up again?"

"Me? As if." How could Tang Zhi ever admit it? Before her good friend, how could she show weakness?

"As if nothing's wrong. Ever since I saw Guan Xin, I've felt something's off with you." Liu Xinlan knew Tang Zhi quite well. "Say, Yunyun — how far have you and Wei Zhao gotten, really? Give me the truth."

"How far could we have gotten? We're only high schoolers, all right? Holding hands at most, I suppose?" Tang Zhi was a little bashful, though she blamed the lack of progress between her and Wei Zhao on the simple fact that they were still in school.

"High school? People are sleeping together in middle school! Yunyun, are you even keeping up? Have you ever been on the internet? The other day at Fatty Lai's place you were talking such a vivid game — so it was all a bluff!" Liu Xinlan was somewhat disappointed.

"Aren't they bluffing too? I refuse to believe they'd dare do that threesome thing with Wei Zhao!" Tang Zhi felt a little wronged. If not for Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu, would she ever have said so many shameless things?

"Gu Mengyao, hard to say. But that Shen Yushu — her, maybe. The way she looked, she seemed all too eager to try!" Liu Xinlan was a good judge of character. "Let me tell you, Yunyun, you'd better keep a close eye on Wei Zhao, or when the time comes you won't even find a place to cry."

"If he wants to be with someone else, how could I stop him?" Tang Zhi shook her head, full of bewilderment about the future.
