Chapter 748 — Giving You Some Benefits

The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 2

"Ha, straightforward!" Liu Bojia laughed. "That's just as well—suits me fine."

"What benefit do you have to offer me? Twenty million?" Wei Zhao looked at Liu Bojia and asked mildly.

"That, I doubt you'd be interested in. With your medical skill, twenty million is nothing you couldn't earn easily." Liu Bojia waved a hand. He had escaped death this time when the hospital could do nothing for him, yet Wei Zhao had cured him. With skill like that, Wei Zhao would never want for money.

"Heh..." Wei Zhao smiled and said nothing.

"Did the police tell you about my background?" Liu Bojia asked.

"No. I didn't ask." Wei Zhao shook his head.

"I'm an archaeologist, and also a tomb robber..." Liu Bojia briefly introduced himself to Wei Zhao, then went on: "According to my reading of the ancient texts, this tomb near Songshan is very likely that of Zhang Lifeng, the folk medical sage of the late Song and early Yuan. You're a doctor—there may be something in this tomb that you need."

"Oh? You mean for me to go dig up the tomb?" Wei Zhao was taken aback. Zhang Lifeng—he seemed to recall seeing that name in one of the old man's books.

"The police will probably go in. Given your connections with them, you could tag along." Liu Bojia handed Wei Zhao a folder. "These are the trap mechanisms in the tomb as I've mapped them out, along with some methods for getting past them. It's not comprehensive, but it should be of some help."

"Why not give it to the police?" Wei Zhao took the folder, glanced at it, and asked.

"It has nothing to do with my own case. What I feel like saying, I say; what I don't, I don't." Liu Bojia smiled.

"Thank you." Wei Zhao accepted the folder without doubting Liu Bojia's words, for Liu Bojia did not seem to be lying now. From what Wei Zhao had observed, he was most likely telling the truth. Besides, he had no reason to lie.

"We're even now. As for that twenty million, take it if you want it; if not, donate it on my behalf. Where it goes doesn't matter—it's your money already." Liu Bojia smiled, then closed his eyes and said no more.

Wei Zhao tucked the folder into his coat and turned to leave the ward.

Qiu Lingshan and Chen Yuxuan were waiting outside the ward door. Seeing Wei Zhao come out, Qiu Lingshan hesitated, as if she wanted to speak but could not.

"If there's nothing else, I'll be going." Wei Zhao glanced at Qiu Lingshan. He knew she wanted to ask what benefit Liu Bojia had given him, but he did not volunteer the information.

"All right..." Curious as Qiu Lingshan was, she still felt she should not know so much. What if what Liu Bojia had given Wei Zhao went against her principles—then would she interfere or not? Qiu Lingshan felt a headache coming on...

She was a person of firm principles, and this sudden thought startled her! Since when had she begun to care about Wei Zhao's interests?
