Chapter 788 — Kang Jingming Injures Himself

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"A word in private? If you've got something to say, say it here. Spit it out—I'm busy!" The nurse had no good impression of Wang Shubin. He'd actually called her "auntie" earlier. What kind of eyes did he have?

"Uh..." Wang Shubin hurriedly dug in his trouser pocket and fished out a few hundred yuan. He didn't know where his wallet had gone; he didn't have much money left. A rough count showed only a little over four hundred, some of it small change. But that was all he had—there was no time to run to the bank, so he could only brace himself and say, "Um, nurse... sister, could you grant me a request?"

"What do you mean by that? Have you watched too many Japanese films? I'm a decent woman—don't go getting any dirty ideas!" The nurse shot Wang Shubin a look of contempt. "Besides, you think a little money like that is enough to make me throw away my dignity? Dream on!"

"Huh?" Wang Shubin was taken aback, and he knew the nurse had misunderstood him. A woman like that, and she wouldn't even do it for four hundred? He wouldn't take her for free. But he needed her help now, so he could only lower his voice: "I'm sorry, nurse sister, you've misunderstood. I don't have any dirty ideas—I just want to ask you about a few things!"

"Ask about things? What things?" Hearing that Wang Shubin didn't mean what she'd thought, the nurse's expression softened a little. Four hundred yuan to answer a few questions was worth it, but it depended on what he wanted to know. If it was something trivial, there was no harm in telling him; but if he wanted to pry into hospital secrets, then there was nothing she could do—she'd just have to say goodbye to that four hundred.

"It's like this. My boss... I mean, this Young Master Ming..." Wang Shubin pointed at Kang Jingming on the hospital bed and went on: "He wants to pursue a nurse at your hospital, so he'd like to ask about some information..."

"Oh, why didn't you say so earlier!" The nurse snatched the bills from Wang Shubin's hand and stuffed them into her pocket. "Go ahead and ask. I'll tell you everything I know!"

This was something the nurse could talk about, and it didn't count as taking a red envelope—it was income from labor outside her job scope, so she took it with an easy conscience.

"That female nurse is called Guan Xin. Is she also a nurse in your surgery department?" Seeing an opening, Wang Shubin quickly asked.

"Guan Xin? I know her. She's the beauty of our surgery department. What do you want to know?" The nurse didn't know Guan Xin's background, so she didn't care about saying a few things behind her back.

"Nurse sister, my boss was hospitalized actually because of Guan Xin, but we don't know what ailments she's responsible for. We want to get in touch with Guan Xin, but we can't even get near her!" Wang Shubin said, somewhat troubled. "Kind nurse sister, could you point us the way?"

"Oh, that's simple. Guan Xin handles wound dressing. She's not responsible for injections or anything like that. If you want to see her, you have to have an injury. Otherwise, even if you caught a cold and died here, you'd never see her!" the nurse said.

"I see. Looks like we went the wrong way about it!" Wang Shubin gave Kang Jingming a sympathetic look. All that suffering from the cold had apparently been for nothing—they hadn't even caught a glimpse of Guan Xin.

"All right, I'm off if there's nothing else. Figure it out yourselves." With that, the nurse sashayed away. A few words had earned her over four hundred yuan—truly worth it!

"Damn it!" Kang Jingming was furious and slapped the hospital bed resentfully. "If I'd known, I'd have done some investigating first, and I wouldn't have had to suffer like this!"

"That's right, Young Master Ming, but for now we can only cure the cold first..." Zhu Xiaozhang agreed with a sigh.
