Chapter 920 — High-Handed Accusations

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"Ah?" Gu Pengzhan started. The man's abrupt entrance had given him quite a fright. "If I may ask, are you Mr. Wei Zhizun?"

"Wei himself, yes!" The Daoist-robed man nodded. "Your security here is truly third-rate. With skills like that, they dare show their faces and make a spectacle of themselves?"

No sooner had Wei Zhizun finished speaking than the phone on Gu Pengzhan's desk rang. Gu Pengzhan picked it up with a bitter smile. It was, as expected, the security captain, reporting that an exceedingly overbearing man had barged straight into the company, demanded Gu Pengzhan by name, and injured two guards!

Gu Pengzhan was rather at a loss for words, but at a moment like this he could hardly blame Wei Zhizun—after all, until Uncle Qing's junior fellow disciple arrived, he still had to rely on this man. So he simply told the security captain that it was nothing, and to send the two injured guards to the hospital for treatment.

"Mr. Wei, your skills are extraordinary, but there is no need to hold grudges against ordinary folk, is there?" Gu Pengzhan hung up and rose to his feet. "The safety of myself and my daughter will depend entirely on you from now on, Mr. Wei!"

"You are too kind, too kind!" Wei Zhizun said with great haughtiness. "Wei is a supreme expert of the Profound Rank. Keeping you safe is no problem at all. However, as for the matter of your commission..."

"The people at the Vanguard Company have already told me. A commission of two hundred thousand a month—that is no problem at all!" Gu Pengzhan nodded, though inwardly he thought of Wei Zhao. Thirty thousand really was cheap, but that price had been set by the old master of his own household back then, and he had no authority to interfere.

"No, that is the company's price!" Wei Zhizun shook his head. "The money you pay goes to the company. On top of that, you must pay me three hundred thousand a month!"

"That..." Gu Pengzhan was taken aback. He had not expected Wei Zhizun to truly open his mouth as wide as a lion's.

"What? You cannot afford it? Then Wei has no choice but to take his leave!" As he spoke, Wei Zhizun rose to depart.

"Mr. Wei, do not be angry. Very well, three hundred thousand it is!" Gu Pengzhan had no choice but to agree. Five hundred thousand to hire himself an overlord—and yet he had no choice but to keep him!

"Now that is what I said! Five hundred thousand for a supreme expert of the Profound Rank—you are making out extraordinarily well!" Wei Zhizun nodded and laughed heartily.

Gu Pengzhan did not understand the ranking of strength very clearly and had no idea what level of power a Profound-Rank supreme expert actually represented, but it certainly sounded formidable. Presumably the man's strength was not weak—otherwise, without real ability, he would never dare open his mouth so wide and raise the price on the spot like that.

"Very well, then according to the contract, there is a one-month trial period, and the salary is formally settled starting next month?" Gu Pengzhan asked.

"That is the company's rule!" Wei Zhizun shook his head. "Wei's own rule is a trial period of one day. The salary is settled starting tomorrow!"

"Fine, no problem!" Gu Pengzhan sighed. This Vanguard outfit was far too full of itself—who exactly was the employer here?

Still, the man was not wrong either. A Profound-Rank expert coming to serve as a bodyguard for an ordinary man—without the lure of great profit, how could that ever be?

But just as the two were speaking, the office door was pushed open once more, and three people strode in, arrogant as could be!

This time even the security captain downstairs did not dare to stop them. Who knew what sort of people would come calling today? Earlier a strange old Daoist had arrived and, at a single cross word, struck and wounded men. Now these three said not a word and simply stormed furiously inward!
