Chapter 954 — An Liwen's Hint

"Oh? Really?" Zhao Qibing was taken aback. In his heart he was not afraid of Gu Pengzhan running off — a monk may flee, but the temple cannot. What he wanted was the real estate company; his terms were different from those of the Xiao and Yu families. The Xiao family wanted money and businesses, the Yu family wanted people and shares. They feared Gu Pengzhan would run off with the money and Gu Mengyao, but he did not fear that.
What Zhao Qibing feared was that Gu Pengzhan did not have that much money. The Xiao family wanted two hundred million; if Gu Pengzhan did not have it, he would have to substitute something else, and then the Yu family would certainly not agree — after all, what they wanted was shares in the Gu Group. They might well make up the shortfall with assets under his real estate company, and then would he not lose out badly?
Though the Xiao and Yu families would not simply take the real estate company outright — after all, they still had to give him some face — Zhao Qibing feared they would take the land parcels and properties under the real estate company and leave him an empty shell of a company. What use would that be to him?
Moreover, once those things fell into the pockets of the Yu and Xiao families, he would be too embarrassed to ask for them back, and could only count himself unlucky! After all, this was robbing someone else — first come, first served!
"That's right. I was afraid that if you went too late, it would be too late for everything!" An Liwen said.
"But don't you like Gu Mengyao? Why are you tipping me off?" Zhao Qibing was no fool. He knew An Liwen was one of Gu Mengyao's suitors; it was one thing for him to turn a blind eye while Zhao Qibing dealt with the Gu family, but urging him to be even harsher with them left Zhao Qibing puzzled!
"I like her, but she doesn't like me back! She's about to marry into the Yu family, so what good is my liking her? If she'd come to me earlier, she wouldn't have ended up in this state!" An Liwen said this deliberately, also wanting to give Zhao Qibing a preemptive warning: "By then she'll be a daughter-in-law of the Fire Wolf Gang. Even the Yu family will have to show the Fire Wolf Gang some respect!"
"True, but that girl brought it on herself. Who else can she blame?" Zhao Qibing, hearing this, realized it really was the case and echoed in agreement.
"Ah, I really am reluctant to let it go! But you're right. Gu Mengyao went looking for trouble herself, and when things went wrong she didn't come begging to me. What could I do?" An Liwen said with a sigh.
"All right, Young Master Wen, accept your loss and move on. You're a healthy man with two kidneys now, so look to the future. There are plenty of fish in the sea, so why fixate on Mengyao?" Zhao Qibing consoled him.
"True. Then I won't disturb Young Master Bing any longer. The reason I called you is that it was your help that made me a normal man again and restored my manly prowess!" An Liwen said. "Otherwise, why would I meddle in this?"
"I know, I know! Thanks, Young Master Wen!" This time Zhao Qibing finally had no more doubts and believed An Liwen's words.
After hanging up, Zhao Qibing summoned Li Cihua. "Cihua, I just got word that Gu Pengzhan is planning to flee, and the Yu and Xiao families have already shown up at his door. If we're late, the spoils will all be carved up by others and we'll get nothing!"
"Young Master Bing, shall we go find Gu Pengzhan right now?" Li Cihua asked in alarm, hurrying to speak.
