Xie Yufeng knew that Wei Zhao was a cultivator too. If he let even a trace of true qi show, Wei Zhao would likely be the first to sense just how strong he really was.
Xie Yufeng broke out in a cold sweat, silently thanking his lucky stars. If his strength had been exposed on his very first day after transferring schools, this whole trip would have been for nothing. What would Father think of him? If he couldn't even handle a trifle like this, how could he ever be trusted with real responsibility?
So Xie Yufeng hurriedly dispersed the true qi that had just begun to gather in his body. But then a new problem presented itself. Without the aid of true qi, Xie Yufeng was no match at all for these three pieces of trash in front of him.
These three were clearly street thugs who fought all the time. Xie Yufeng could handle one of them without trouble, but taking on all three at once was a joke. He was no expert in external martial arts; a master of the internal school relied entirely on true qi in a fight. Without it, he was no different from an ordinary man — at best, a shade stronger.
Xie Yufeng was not like Wei Zhao. Even stripped of the aid of true qi, Wei Zhao had years of experience carrying out missions in war zones to draw on. His fighting skill was many times that of an ordinary man, he commanded countless assassination techniques and methods, and his movements were exceptionally agile. So even in a brawl, so long as his opponent was not an external-school cultivator, Wei Zhao could win handily.
But Xie Yufeng could not. For a moment, he was caught between a rock and a hard place.
"Gentlemen, let us call today's business finished. If any of you are unwilling to let it go, leave me your contact and we will set a time for a proper contest." Xie Yufeng's expression shifted before he finally managed to say something face-saving. With no true qi to draw on, he had no chance of winning.
"Damn, kid, have you lost your mind? You say it's finished, so it's finished? Where's all that kicking skill you had a minute ago? Didn't you just tell us to all come at you? Boys, kill him!" Lei Zhenyu was delighted to hear Xie Yufeng's words. Looks like the kid is scared.
"Leave a road open while you still can, so we can meet again someday. Are you truly set on fighting today?" Xie Yufeng frowned. Humiliating and shameful as it was, he could only soften his words. With Wei Zhao watching, he dared not use true qi — which left him with nothing in the face of these three but a beating.
"A road open? You're the one who told us to all come at you just now!" Lei Zhenyu laughed even harder at the craven sight of him. "Kid, how about this — you kneel down, kowtow to me three times, call me grandpa, then crawl through my legs, and we'll call it even for today!"
"Hahahahaha! Crawl through his legs!" the bald man and the hook-nosed man echoed, howling with laughter.
Xie Yufeng's face turned ashen, and he hated Wei Zhao with all his heart. Why couldn't you have stayed put in the private room? What business did you have wandering out here? He desperately wished Wei Zhao would take Shen Yushu and Feng Xiaoxiao back to the room this instant — but Wei Zhao stood not far off as though watching a show, and did not move.
"Wei Zhao, take Feng Xiaoxiao and Shen Yushu back to the room — don't let them get hurt!" With no other way out, Xie Yufeng had no choice but to say this to Wei Zhao, praying silently that he would take the suggestion.
If Wei Zhao would only leave for a moment, Xie Yufeng could use his true qi to beat these three into cripples.
But Wei Zhao watched Xie Yufeng with keen interest, a little puzzled. What on earth was Xie Yufeng trying to do? A moment ago the situation had been taut as a drawn bow, and then he suddenly started talking soft — what did he mean by it?
What's more, Wei Zhao could plainly sense that Xie Yufeng had wanted to use his true qi just now, and hadn't. What was he hiding?
