Chapter 1009 — A Little Tempted

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"Oh..." Wei Zhao nodded, then asked, as though it were nothing: "By the way, that time you fainted out of nowhere — what was that about? Do you have some kind of illness?"

"Oh... it was nothing..." Feng Xiaoxiao shook her head. She did not want Wei Zhao to know she had a terminal illness; that way her "revenge" would turn into Wei Zhao's pity, and then what meaning would her "revenge" have left?

Hmph, Wei Zhao, you made my life miserable before — I'm not letting you off. I'm just using you as my little experiment in love: I'll make you fall for me, and then let you grieve over me!

Wei Zhao nodded, said nothing more, and drove on.

"Wei Zhao, there's hardly any traffic now — why don't you floor it? Let me enjoy it?" Feng Xiaoxiao turned to look at him.

"Why would I speed when there's no need? Don't you know speeding is dangerous?" Wei Zhao frowned. "Nine out of ten crashes come from speed. Do you have a death wish?"

"Heh... a death wish, is it?" Feng Xiaoxiao shook her head and gave a faint sigh.

Wei Zhao was taken aback for an instant, then his heart sank. There was something beneath her words: she did not have long to live. Yet he truly had no way to answer that, and could only sigh so faintly she would not notice. His pity for Feng Xiaoxiao deepened...

She was a cheerful, positive girl. From the very moment he had met her, Wei Zhao had never once seen a trace of anything negative in her. If he had not personally witnessed the strangeness in Feng Xiaoxiao's body, and heard her real condition from his comrade-in-arms Feng Tianlong, Wei Zhao would never have believed that this beautiful girl before him had not long to live!

If he set aside the misgivings and the guilt in his heart toward Tang Zhi, Wei Zhao found that he really had grown a little fond of the girl before him.

Wei Zhao did not want her to die, yet there was nothing he could do! Even the old man was helpless against this illness; there was no way Wei Zhao could have any answer. Though he was called a divine doctor, the truth was that even a divine doctor was not omnipotent. He could indeed cure certain known terminal illnesses and defy heaven to change a person's fate, but for an unknown disease, Wei Zhao did not even know its cause — so how was he supposed to treat it?

"Hey, Wei Zhao, do you like me?" Feng Xiaoxiao gave up on the idea of making him speed. She knew Wei Zhao was stubborn in what he did: what he said he would do, he did, and what he refused was hard to change.

"..." Wei Zhao did not answer.

"Hmm, you really don't like me? Not even a little? Just a tiny bit?" Feng Xiaoxiao asked, unwilling to give up.

"..." Wei Zhao still did not answer.

"Hey, when you touched me at the auction, did you really feel nothing at all?" Feng Xiaoxiao was getting anxious.

"I felt something," Wei Zhao said, seeing that she was only going to talk more wildly.

"Then have you been a little tempted by me?" Hearing his affirmative reply, Feng Xiaoxiao was instantly delighted and pressed her advantage.

"A little," Wei Zhao nodded.

"Then why did you turn me down?" Hearing this, Feng Xiaoxiao was rather puzzled.

"I didn't. It's only today that I've just started to like you a little," Wei Zhao said. "Back in Yanjing I had a bit of a feeling, but I wasn't sure."

Wei Zhao had indeed felt something for Feng Xiaoxiao before, but out of caution toward her he had buried that feeling deep in his heart, and only today had he let it out.

"Ah! I'm so happy! Happy to death!" Feng Xiaoxiao was so excited she was dancing about. "So hard work really does pay off! Then you agree to let me be your little wife?"

"Yunyun agreed?" Wei Zhao asked in return.

"Yes, Sister Tang Zhi agreed, of course she did — otherwise why would she have agreed to let me be alone with you?" Feng Xiaoxiao nodded excitedly.

"You didn't force her into it, or set some kind of trap so she had no choice but to accept you?" Wei Zhao asked.
