"Oh?" Shen Yushu looked at Gou Huili, puzzled. "Old woman, your lion's gone, so you've come to play lion yourself and prove you exist?"
Hearing Shen Yushu's words, Gou Huili was at once ashamed and enraged. Playing at being a lion? All she wanted was to take the lion back, but the beast would not give her the time of day — what was she supposed to do?
"Playing lion? I came to take the lion home!" Gou Huili snorted.
"Oh. Then do as you like," Shen Yushu said indifferently, and with that turned and went back into the villa.
Leaving Gou Huili there alone, unable to leave and unable to stay.
After a while, Gou Huili stamped her foot and left in a fury! There was nothing else she could do. Shen Yushu might have spoken lightly, but the lion simply would not budge, and Gou Huili could hardly carry the lion off in her arms.
Gou Huili thought it over, and suddenly a clever plan came to her: the lion loved meat above all, especially the beef fresh-bought from the market! At this thought, Gou Huili hurried home, drove straight to the market, bought a large chunk of fresh beef, and returned to Gu Mengyao's villa.
"Lion, lion, I've bought your favorite beef — come home with me, won't you?" Gou Huili tempted the lion with the beef.
Tempted by the beef, the lion did raise its eyes to glance at Gou Huili, gave an "aooo," and got to its feet!
Gou Huili was overjoyed. Beasts will be beasts, she thought — whoever feeds them is their mother! She gives it food, so how could it not go home with her obediently?
"Little lion, come home with me, and every day from now on there'll be fish and meat in plenty — I promise you'll eat well!" Gou Huili said, not without smugness, holding up the bag of beef.
The lion rose and came to stand before Gou Huili, then suddenly raised its head and bit, snatching the plastic bag of beef straight out of Gou Huili's hand! Fearing the lion would bite her hand, Gou Huili instinctively let go, and the whole bag of beef ended up in the lion's mouth.
"Little lion, the beef is yours — now come home with me, quick!" Gou Huili seized the chance to say.
But the lion, beef in its jaws, turned and presented Gou Huili with its backside! It trotted quickly to the villa door and scratched at it with a forepaw.
After a moment the villa door opened, and the one who came out was Shen Yushu.
The lion held up the bag of beef in its mouth to Shen Yushu. She took it and saw that it was a whole bag of fresh beef, and was delighted: "Little lion, where did you get this beef? I was just worrying about what to make for dinner — now it's settled, we can have curry beef with potatoes!"
The lion turned its head and gestured with it in Gou Huili's direction, meaning to tell Shen Yushu that this beef had been delivered by Gou Huili.
