Chapter 1194 — Brothers Talk Heart to Heart

The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 2

"That underground fight ring — they haven't come after you again?" Wei Zhao asked, rather surprised.

"No. They even sent someone over with a sum of money," Er Gou Dan said, shaking his head.

Wei Zhao nodded, seeing nothing amiss in it. They had simply been beaten into terror. Sure enough, it takes a wicked man to wear down a wicked man.

"And then Yu's mother was bitten by a lion at Gou Huli's house, and you came here looking for revenge?" Wei Zhao asked.

"That's right. I never expected to run into you here, Boss!" Er Gou Dan grew excited as he said this.

"And what does Yu Yuanyuan think? Does she like you?" Wei Zhao knew this was the first time Er Gou Dan had ever lost his heart to a girl, and he did not want to see him hurt; Yu Yuanyuan's own feelings, then, mattered a great deal.

"She should like me..." Er Gou Dan thought it over carefully, then nodded. "And Yuanyuan's parents have both been very good to me. Yuanyuan's father even wants me to stay here and help him run the hardware and sundries shop..."

"But can you leave Xixing Mountain Village? Can you leave that spirit spring? In the end you still have to go back." Wei Zhao frowned in warning. "Can Yu Yuanyuan go back with you?"

"She... I don't know..." Er Gou Dan was startled by Wei Zhao's words as well. He had not thought that far before, but hearing it put this way, he remembered the peculiarity of his body — he could not leave that spirit spring, or there would be serious trouble.

That Yu Yuanyuan liked him, Er Gou Dan could be fairly sure of. But to ask a girl to travel so far, to give up the splendor of the great city and go off to a tiny mountain village — that really was asking too much of her. Having seen the splendor of the great city for himself, even Er Gou Dan was a little reluctant to leave; how much more so Yu Yuanyuan?

And so Er Gou Dan found himself torn.

"Find a chance to talk with her. This is something that has to be brought out into the open in the end." Wei Zhao knew that laying it all bare might cost Er Gou Dan his chance at Yu Yuanyuan — but it might also win him that love. Yet if he did not, muddling along was no solution either. "You've already used your strength twice, haven't you? Without the nourishment of the spirit spring water, the Gu worms inside you will turn on you. I'm afraid you won't hold out long this time."

"Yes..." Er Gou Dan sighed as well. "I'll find a time to tell her."

Wei Zhao nodded silently. In such matters he could only hint and go no further; there was little more he could say. Everything depended on how Yu Yuanyuan and Er Gou Dan felt about each other. Thinking of Yu Yuanyuan, Wei Zhao could not help thinking of Tang Zhi — that girl of a certain stubbornness and persistence.

When he was about to leave Songshan City, Tang Zhi had resolutely chosen to give up everything and go with him. In that moment Wei Zhao had truly been moved, and he swore that he would treat her well all his life. Thinking back carefully over the little moments the two of them had walked through together, he found it a little plain, perhaps, but very happy.

Sometimes lovers need not go through too many twists and turns together; the plain and the ordinary is what is most beautiful of all.
