Chapter 1338 — Ergoudan Strikes

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"Fine, I'll be there." Wu Chengtian nodded.

The reason the Xiao family had invited Wu Chengtian to watch the fight was, in truth, to show the Wu family just what the Xiao family was capable of — to let them see how formidable the hidden experts of the Pi family were, so that through the Wu family's lips the other great clans would come to know that the Xiao family was not to be provoked!

"How did it go?" The moment Xiao Wangba hung up, Xiao Ben asked hurriedly.

"He's agreed to come and watch." Xiao Wangba nodded.

"Good. This time we must make the Xiao family's name ring out. The Great Clan Gathering is nearly upon us — with the Pi family behind us, we're certain to secure a fine position!" Xiao Ben said, unable to hide his satisfaction.

That evening, Ergoudan rode with Uncle Qing in the Bentley to Songshan City No. 1 High School. He sat in the passenger seat like a guard riding shotgun, eyes wide, watching every stir beyond the window.

This was a task Wei Zhao himself had handed down to him — there must not be the slightest slip.

Uncle Qing glanced at Ergoudan's battle-ready bearing and could not help but find it somewhat amusing. Where on earth had Wei Zhao dug up this odd creature?

Before long, Gu Mengyao, Shen Yushu and Tang Zhi emerged from the school. The three of them had been rather downcast these past days — one of their number had suddenly gone missing, and they could not get used to it.

The three got into the car, and Gu Mengyao nodded at Ergoudan by way of greeting.

Uncle Qing started the engine, and the car glided slowly toward the Gu family villa.

It should have been an utterly uneventful trip. But all at once a van with no license plates overtook them and cut in front of Uncle Qing's Bentley, while behind them an SUV sealed off the road, pinning the Bentley front and back so that it could not move an inch.

Uncle Qing stopped the car, his expression grim. The scene when Ma Zhu had blocked the car was still vivid before his eyes — and it had hardly been any time at all before a similar scene was playing out again.

"Miss Gu, all of you stay in the car. Whatever you do, do not get out. I'll go and take a look," Uncle Qing said gravely.

He knew these visitors meant no good, but Uncle Qing had to stand in their path all the same. This was no longer merely a bodyguard's duty — over the years he had come to cherish Gu Mengyao as his own child, and he would not suffer anyone to harm her.

Yet before Uncle Qing could get out, the door of the van ahead swung open, and an old man and a young one, both in white training garb, leapt down.

"This is bad — experts of the Pi family. Nothing good can come of this." Uncle Qing's brows knitted the instant he saw them.

"Li Fu! Wei Zhao! Get out of the car and meet your deaths!" Pi Yangyang bellowed at the Bentley with immense swagger. The car's windows were tinted front and back, so he could not make out what was inside.

Not far off, Xiao Wangba, Xiao Wangdao and Wu Chengtian were hidden away in another minibus, quietly watching how things unfolded.

"As expected of an expert at the peak of the late Xuan rank — what presence!" Wu Chengtian gazed at the heroic bearing of Pi Yangyang and Mr. Pi, envy plain in his voice. "When will I ever be like that?"

Wu Chengtian was a worshipper of strength — though that was hardly strange. Among the martial youths of every great clan, who did not long to become stronger and more formidable?

"Haha, don't worry, Brother Wu. Once this business is done, I'll have Elder Pi give you a few pointers. You're sure to gain some insight from it," Xiao Wangba said.

"Oh? Wonderful — then I thank you, Brother Wangba." Wu Chengtian was delighted. His own grandfather was a Xuan-rank expert too, but even he had his limits; if another Xuan-rank master of the external arts were to offer guidance, Wu Chengtian might well profit from it.

"No need for thanks. Let's enjoy the show first!" Xiao Wangba waved a hand.
