Zhao Guangyin walked into Old Master Zhao's villa. At that moment Old Master Zhao was sitting in the reception hall at the main entrance, dressed in a white training suit, still holding a cup of fragrant tea in his hand, every inch the immortal sage.
"Father!" Zhao Guangyin bowed and said respectfully.
"Mm, Guangyin is here. What is the matter?" Old Master Zhao nodded. "I hear you have some great affair concerning the future development of our Zhao family? Just what is it?"
"Father, it concerns Xiaobing..." Zhao Guangyin said.
"Zhao Qibing?" Upon hearing that name, Old Master Zhao could not help but frown. He had never had much liking for this illegitimate son. After all, the Zhao family and the Yu family were joined by marriage, yet Zhao Guangyin had fathered an illegitimate son outside. How was the old master to face the Yu family?
And so Old Master Zhao could only pretend not to know of the matter, never mentioning it openly and never allowing Zhao Qibing to return to the Zhao family, and the Yu family had indeed found no fault in it.
"What trouble has he stirred up now?" Old Master Zhao's first thought was that Zhao Qibing had gotten into trouble.
"Father, this time Zhao Qibing has rendered our Zhao family a tremendous service!" In his heart Zhao Guangyin truly hoped that Old Master Zhao would acknowledge Zhao Qibing, for he was after all his son, and Zhao Guangyin set great store by sons over daughters, so although Zhao Qibing was illegitimate, he valued him highly, and thus when introducing Zhao Qibing's merit he could not help but magnify it somewhat.
"A tremendous service? What service?" Old Master Zhao froze. "What has he done out there?"
"It happened like this..." Zhao Guangyin hastily recounted the whole course of how Zhao Qibing and the Medicine King had bluffed and cajoled Yu Huoxing of the Yu family into handing over the Qi Gathering Pill.
"What! The Qi Gathering Pill! That thing has really appeared!" Upon hearing Zhao Guangyin's words, Old Master Zhao rose激 to his feet in excitement. He was a steady man, and it was hard for anything to move him so, but today he could not hold himself back!
"Yes, this child Zhao Qibing has had no easy time of it, and his filial devotion to you is utterly sincere! He kept ever in mind that you are at the peak of late-phase Earth rank and have striven many times to break through the Earth rank to the Heaven rank without result, and so he tried every means to track down the whereabouts of this Qi Gathering Pill!" Zhao Guangyin said, "This child actually dared to open his mouth like a lion and demand this pill from Yu Huoxing, an Earth-rank master, all for your sake, Father, casting his own life and death aside! If Yu Huoxing had been the least bit displeased, how could Xiaobing ever have been his match?"
Zhao Guangyin was of course exaggerating the danger somewhat. Even if Elder Yu had been furious at the time, not to mention that he still needed the Medicine King to cure his poison, even had he not been poisoned he could never have rashly laid hands on the Zhao family's illegitimate son!
