Chapter 1746 — Wei Zhao's Fury (Part 1)

Doctor Guan hung up the phone, his chest heaving with rage. At last he let out a long breath, and then, with no other choice, dialed Wei Zhao's number once more. Much as he hated to trouble Wei Zhao, for the sake of his granddaughter he could only risk his old face!
The call connected quickly. On Wei Zhao's end, he too was deeply concerned for Guan Xin's safety, so as soon as he picked up he asked hurriedly, "Elder Guan, how is it? They got the formula—did they release Xinxin?"
"Alas!" Guan Xuewen sighed and said with a bitter smile, "Xiao Yi, the other side is insatiable. It was agreed that once they had the Life-Extending Detox Pill formula they would release Xinxin, but now they want the formulas for the wound medicine and the painkiller as well... This time I am certain the other side must be the Kang Shenyi family, because they are the only ones who are our competitors!"
"They want more?" Wei Zhao frowned, a surge of anger rising in his heart. Was this not treating him as a fool? Did they really think he was easy to bully? He had given them the formula for the Life-Extending Detox Pill and still they were not content—now they wanted something else?
Wei Zhao was not the sort of person to let others push him around. Even when facing Heaven-rank experts, he would sometimes erupt—let alone a Kang Shenyi family.
"Indeed. But I have no other way. If it truly comes to it, I will give up my shares in Guan Daifu Pharmaceuticals—I will work for you for free, and you may use my name for free as well. Xinxin is my only granddaughter..." Having said all this, Guan Xuewen felt deeply ashamed, but there was no help for it—he truly could not abandon Guan Xin.
"Elder Guan, what are you saying!" Hearing Guan Xuewen's words, Wei Zhao was caught between laughter and tears. "Aren't you treating me like an outsider? When I was in trouble back then, you were willing to take me as your disciple despite the pressure. And now you say such things? Besides, Xinxin is my good friend too. I want to save her, and that has nothing to do with you—you need not feel guilty about anything..."
"Xiao Yi, thank you truly! For the two of us, grandfather and granddaughter, to have met you is truly our good fortune!" Guan Xuewen said, moved.
"Let us set that aside for now. The other side is so insatiable that even if we give them these two formulas, they will likely find some other way to demand more things, and in the end they might well demand the whole company," Wei Zhao said.
"I know that too. This kind of chain fraud appears on television all the time. But right now I truly have no other way!" Guan Xuewen was utterly helpless as well.
"Elder Guan, I will contact Qiu Lingshan now and have her see whether she can track down the kidnappers, and then I will hurry back to Songshan City as fast as I can! You need not worry about this matter—I will resolve it for you!" Wei Zhao could tolerate it no longer. They had asked for a pill formula, and Wei Zhao had given it; but to want more—that was insatiable greed. Wei Zhao's bottom line had been crossed, and naturally he would go back and settle this matter himself.
"That's right—the other side forbids us to call the police, saying that if we do they will tear up the ticket..." Guan Xuewen cautioned. "And he said the call went through several transfers, routed through several foreign countries before being relayed back, so Lingshan's side probably will not be able to do anything either..."
