Chapter 1752 — Apology

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"Wei Zhao!" As Tang Zhi drew close and saw Wei Zhao slumped unconscious across Guan Xin's back, covered head to toe in blood and grime, she could not help crying out in alarm. "He... what happened to him?"

"He got hurt saving me..." Guan Xin's tears had not yet dried; at Tang Zhi's question they began to fall again, beyond her control...

At Guan Xin's words, Gu Mengyao and the others' expressions turned rather sour at once. Wei Zhao had taken such grievous wounds to save Guan Xin—how could they be pleased? Tang Zhi had long regarded Guan Xin as a rival in love, and her ties with Guan Xin were nowhere near as close as those with Gu Mengyao. Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu, for their part, had never had much fondness for Guan Xin either. Wei Zhao's very first injury, at the bank, had been for her sake—and now again!

"Give Wei Zhao to me!" Gu Mengyao did not want Guan Xin carrying him any longer. "Because of you, we cut our trip short and came back, and now Wei Zhao's hurt like this..."

Tang Zhi's face was not much better, but she said, "Let it go, Yao Yao. Now is not the time to be assigning blame. Let's get Wei Zhao home first."

"Not... not to the hospital?" Guan Xin was taken aback.

"No need," Gu Mengyao said coldly.

For some reason, Gu Mengyao felt unhappy. What exactly was the relationship between Wei Zhao and Guan Xin, that he would risk his life to save her? Yet then she wondered—was she not fretting more than the parties involved? Tang Zhi had said nothing, so why was she so worked up?

Yes, that was it. She was speaking up for Tang Zhi. That was all, Gu Mengyao told herself.

Guan Xin could sense Gu Mengyao's hostility toward her too, and did not quite know what to do with herself...

"I... I'm sorry... it's all my fault..." Guan Xin had been worried sick about Wei Zhao to begin with, and now, seeing the looks on Gu Mengyao and the others' faces, she finally broke down crying. She was worried about Wei Zhao too—she had not wanted this either—but at the time she could not speak, and had no strength to stop it...

"That's enough, Sister Guan Xin, we're not blaming you..." Tang Zhi knew that so long as Wei Zhao was alive, there was hope of recovery. This sort of thing had happened many times before, so though she was anxious now, she was not overly worried. Seeing that Wei Zhao was still breathing, her tone softened. "Yao Yao is just anxious** too. But he came to save you by his own decision—you don't need to feel so guilty."

Hearing Tang Zhi, Gu Mengyao rolled her eyes in exasperation. She thought: I speak up for you, and now you go soft... Yet Gu Mengyao knew that Tang Zhi was soft-hearted—and if she were not, Feng Xiaoxiao could never have become Wei Zhao's little wife, nor would she and Shen Yushu have been able to keep letting Wei Zhao stay on at the villa...

So Gu Mengyao said nothing more. She, too, had a sharp tongue and a soft heart. Hearing Tang Zhi's words, she reflected that it was indeed so—Wei Zhao had decided for himself to save Guan Xin, so Guan Xin was hardly to blame.

They lifted Wei Zhao into the car. Gu Mengyao took over the driving, and their destination was Guan Xuewen's home. Though she was somewhat displeased with Guan Xin, in Wei Zhao's present condition, if anything went wrong, only Guan Xuewen could treat him.

Wei Zhao could heal his own injuries, but there was always the fear of the unforeseen.

"I'm sorry... it was all because I was careless and got kidnapped..." Guan Xin said, full of remorse.

"It's nothing... I was a bit harsh just now. I'm sorry," Gu Mengyao said. She did not want to make things difficult for Wei Zhao, so she held her tongue. She was not like Tang Zhi—Tang Zhi had dealt with Guan Xin several times before, but between Gu Mengyao and Guan Xin there was merely an acquaintance...

"Wei Zhao can heal himself, but whether there will be other problems, only your grandfather can tell when the time comes," Tang Zhi explained.
