So Sun Jingyan decided to have a word with Wu Chengtian about the two of them going to Donghai City as well.
Before she could even go looking for Wu Chengtian, however, Wei Zhao called.
"You're still at your old place, right? I'll come by and see you in a bit," Wei Zhao said.
"Huh? You're coming to see me? Aren't you in Donghai City?" Sun Jingyan was momentarily taken aback.
"I am in Donghai City, but I'll be heading back to Songshan City in a little while. There's something I need to discuss with you," Wei Zhao said.
"Well, all right then — see you soon!" Sun Jingyan forced down the joy welling up inside her and hung up.
She knew perfectly well that Wei Zhao likely had some business with her, and that he certainly had not come simply because he had missed her and wanted to look in on her. But whatever the reason, she would get to see him, and that made her happy all the same.
Wei Zhao wasted no time. He drove straight for the highway.
There were several things he meant to do on this trip back to Songshan City: besides checking on Sun Jingyan's true qi, he had to deliver some money to Yu Xiaoke, drop by First High School to see Ying Ziyu and Chen Xi, and then, last of all, pick up some underthings for the young miss...
More than two hours later, Wei Zhao's car came to a stop on the snack street behind Songshan City First High School. Gazing at the familiar scene, a flicker of bewilderment crossed his eyes — it was as though here, with someone important, he had lived through many important things...
But precisely what those things were, he could no longer quite remember.
Frowning, Wei Zhao shook his head helplessly, got out of the car, and walked toward First High School.
It was between classes, and the athletic field was crowded with students. What a familiar stretch of memory this was. At the sight of the familiar field, the familiar classroom building, and the familiar cafeteria not far off, Wei Zhao could not help but sigh with feeling.
"Excuse me, do you know which class Ying Ziyu and Chen Xi are in?" Wei Zhao casually asked a student who looked to be a first-year freshman.
"Huh, you don't know?" The student, hearing Wei Zhao's question, instead gave him a rather odd look.
"Are they that famous?" Wei Zhao was taken aback too. Now his not knowing had become the strange thing.
"Not just famous — extremely famous! Ying Ziyu and Chen Xi are the school beauties of the first-year class. But Ying Ziyu has a fiery temper, and no ordinary guy dares pursue her. Only Zou Ruoming, the campus thug, has the nerve!" The student's face lit up as he launched into the tale. "Compared to Ying Ziyu, though, Chen Xi is even more popular. She's been called the 'commoner school beauty' — lots of guys fantasize about her. Her arrival fills the spot left by the commoner school beauty who graduated last year..."
"Commoner school beauty?" Wei Zhao repeated the four words. What a familiar title — he seemed to have heard it before.
"Hey, wait — are you even from our school? How do you not know any of this?" The student, having said his piece, suddenly eyed Wei Zhao with suspicion. "Let me tell you, we can't even get our fill of our own school beauties — if you're from another school, you'd better give it up!"
"Heh... I'm Ying Ziyu's older brother." Wei Zhao smiled.
"Oh? So you're Ying Ziyu's older brother... then never mind, bye..." The student glanced at Wei Zhao and suddenly looked rather embarrassed. Rattling on about how fiery his sister's temper was, right in front of her brother — that was awkward, to say the least.
"Wait — which class is Ying Ziyu in?" Wei Zhao asked.
"Class Five, first year... Huh? Aren't you her brother? How do you not know which class she's in?" The student gave Wei Zhao a suspicious look.
"A distant relative. I was passing by and thought I'd look in on her." With that, Wei Zhao turned and headed for the classroom building.
