The journey passed without incident, and they arrived back at the gate of Wei Zhao's villa in the Xueshang compound. The Wind-Thunder Violet-Lightning Beast darted out from somewhere and ran to Wei Zhao's side, crouching affectionately at his feet.
"Come in and sit for a while?" Wei Zhao invited.
"Heh, no. Boss, we won't disturb your rest—we'll be on our way..." Han Xiaohu glanced at Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu coming out of the villa, smiled slightly, and did not intrude. In his heart, though, he thought: the boss keeps beauties hidden in his golden house—a single moment of spring night is worth a thousand in gold. To bother him now would be to lack all sense of tact, wouldn't it?
Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had heard the car at the gate and come out to welcome him. They had already received Wei Zhao's text message earlier saying he would return tonight, so neither was surprised.
Han Xiaohu got into the car and sped off with Han Tianba in a flash, leaving only Wei Zhao and the Wind-Thunder Violet-Lightning Beast at the villa's gate.
"Yaoyao, Xiao Shu." Wei Zhao looked at Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu standing at the villa door and suddenly had a very strange feeling—as though wives were welcoming home a husband returning from a long journey. Except... the wife had become two.
"Gum Guy, you're back! Did you bring Xiao Shu something nice?" Shen Yushu came bounding over. Seeing the Wind-Thunder Violet-Lightning Beast beside Wei Zhao, she was a little curious. "Wow, this big dog looks so strange—it even has horns on its head. Is it a crossbreed?"
"Roar!" The Wind-Thunder Violet-Lightning Beast was close to Wei Zhao, but that did not mean it was close to others. Although it could tell that this person before it surely had a deep connection with Wei Zhao, to slander it like this—calling it a big dog, a crossbreed—how could it endure that?
So it suddenly let out a great roar, not only to express its displeasure but also to frighten Shen Yushu a little and make her behave.
"Damn! You lousy dog, putting on airs now!" Shen Yushu was angry too. Gum Guy brought you back, so you must be Gum Guy's underling spirit beast—and you dare show off to me, his little wife? So Shen Yushu shouted, "General Weiwu, come out quick! Gum Guy's little wife is being bullied by a lousy crossbreed dog!"
"Woof woof!" A dark shadow suddenly darted out from behind the villa, and beside it was a chibi little pig.
"Roar?" The Wind-Thunder Violet-Lightning Beast suddenly saw two high-tier spirit beasts at the peak of the late Mystic Rank, and its eyes went wide with fright. Watching these two stand to either side of Shen Yushu like guards protecting their mistress, the Wind-Thunder Violet-Lightning Beast was instantly dumbfounded.
"Woof woof!"
"Oink oink!"
General Weiwu and the Sky-Thunder Pig glared at the Wind-Thunder Violet-Lightning Beast, as if to say: looking for a beating, are you? You dare bully Shen Yushu?
"...Roar roar..." The Wind-Thunder Violet-Lightning Beast smiled awkwardly, as if to say, I was only joking... At last the creature understood why this little girl was so cocky, and why she dared call it a lousy dog. Compared with these two spirit beasts, it really was the most worthless of the lot. If it wasn't lousy, who was?
You have to understand—among spirit beasts, the hierarchy of rank is the strictest of all!
