Chapter 2315 — Who Exactly Are You? (Part 1)

"So it seems I underestimated you lot." Truth be told, Wei Zhao had never expected a Xuan-rank expert to be stationed in the Conch Bar! Still, the sects and great families had led him into a misconception—that whoever served as a leader must be a martial powerhouse. Since Big Feng had been captured by Feng Tianlong, his strength could not be very high; and the Second Boss, whom Wei Zhao himself had taken, was also no great threat—of that Wei Zhao was well aware.
As for that death-squad man, he had some skill, but in Wei Zhao's eyes he was nothing remarkable. That was how Wei Zhao had fallen into the trap of assuming things: he had overlooked that a gang's figurehead need not be a cultivator at all! Rank and hierarchy in the gangs were not like those in the great families and sects—their leaders could be ruthless schemers, or men of deep cunning and strategy!
It was the same with the Fire Wolf Gang: An Liwen was a worthless bird whose belly brimmed with nothing but dirty tricks for squeezing out money, yet he could command a whole stable of capable men. The principle was exactly the same.
"So you finally admit it? You're no merchant, are you?" Big Feng wore the look of a man holding all the cards. "Out with it—what are you really doing here? And who sent you?"
"I don't mind telling you, but first I want to know—how did you realize I wasn't a customer here to buy drugs?" Wei Zhao was genuinely curious about this point.
Because Wei Zhao had just carefully gone back over the whole of his visit to the Conch Bar, from taking the bait on the fishing line to swallowing the ecstasy and the white powder—he had played it all convincingly, without a single flaw. Moreover, Aotedi, the man who had "traded" with him, had already been taken away by Feng Tianlong, and Baldy Wolf, who knew him well, had been arrested too. The dead could not testify. Even if Big Feng investigated, he could not dig up anything from Aotedi's side. So Yang Zhao was utterly perplexed. Just what was it? "Actually, you made a mistake—not a big one, but not a small one either." Big Feng did not conceal it; he kindly satisfied Wei Zhao's curiosity. "Ruileida Town is one of the Red Conch's largest strongholds—bigger even than this one in Qingrun City. You went there—how could you possibly fail to find a source of goods?"
"What do you mean by that?" Wei Zhao frowned.
"In Ruileida Town, you could walk into any bar or nightclub, even an inn or a tavern, and openly say you were looking for white powder, and someone would sell it to you. How could you fail to find a source?" Big Feng looked at Wei Zhao with open mockery. "It's a lawless little town across the border—two gangs and three families hold everything there. Want to find a source of white powder in that town? It takes one sentence, and someone would take you straight to the Red Conch's headquarters. Why go to the trouble of coming all the way here?"
"So that's how it is..." Wei Zhao let out a long breath of dawning realization. It seemed the saying that even the wise might slip once in a thousand thoughts was true—Wei Zhao had never imagined such a thing! Indeed, just as Big Feng said, in a place like Ruileida Town, buying white powder was a matter of a single sentence. Why travel all the way here?
"All right, the explanation is finished. You can tell me where you come from, and I'll grant you a quicker death," Big Feng said.
"Death? I really haven't thought about that." Wei Zhao waved a hand casually and knocked Hammer unconscious where he stood. Though Wei Zhao felt no fondness for the Red Conch's people, Hammer, that simple fool, had after all brought him here—and Wei Zhao did not want to kill the donkey after it had done the grinding. So he merely knocked him out.
"You dare to make a move here?" Big Feng stared at Wei Zhao in disbelief.
