Chapter 2350 — Young Master Bing's Schemes

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

Zhao Qibing had nearly wet himself with fright today. Old Bi, a figure of such formidable power, had been struck down by Wei Zhao in a single move—and Wei Zhao had said even the old master of the Zhao family would be no match, that he would need two moves at most. What, then, did Zhao Qibing have left to oppose Wei Zhao?

Zhao Qibing had no wish to die. As the saying goes, a wretched life is better than a noble death. He was the heir to the head of the hidden Zhao family—he could not die! Though he hated Wei Zhao to the marrow of his bones, he knew he could not seek revenge. Absolutely not!

He could not let even the faintest trace of hatred show. But deep in his heart, he had already marked Wei Zhao as his enemy number one. The day Zhao Qibing rose again would be the day Wei Zhao went to his grave!

Until then, though, he would flatter Wei Zhao and lick his boots. He had to live—only by living could he have his revenge.

That day, Gu Pengzhan's Gu Group at last planted its feet firmly in East Sea City. What had been a most tangled affair was settled over a single meal—and Gu Pengzhan, an outsider, had inexplicably become chairman of the East Sea Chamber of Commerce!

Gu Pengzhan had likewise, inexplicably, seen his dream fulfilled. What had seemed to him an impossibly difficult task was accomplished without the least effort.

Wei Zhao and Xiaoshu returned to the private room. Wei Zhao looked at Xiaoshu, somewhat puzzled. "Xiaoshu, that first time I went after Zhao Qibing—what was it for?"

"Because he was after Sister Yaoyao, he wanted to sleep with Sister Yaoyao, so you got angry," Shen Yushu said.

At Shen Yushu's words, Gu Mengyao's face went red at once. She shot Xiaoshu a glare but did not contradict her. She knew full well Xiaoshu was talking nonsense, but if she contradicted her now, Wei Zhao would surely dig and dig, and might well drag out the matter of Tang Zhi. Gu Mengyao could only swallow it.

"Is that so?" Wei Zhao was slightly taken aback. He thought to himself, it seems Zhao Qibing and Gu Mengyao really did have a grudge...

"Yes!" Shen Yushu nodded solemnly and with utter certainty.

"All right then..." Wei Zhao nodded. "Last time I lost control and went mad, my thoughts were in a muddle. I keep feeling something is missing from my memory... missing in pieces... For instance, last time when you all came back to my hometown with me, there were so many things in between that I don't remember—including the road back and one of the nights. My impression of them is blurred..."

"That's right, Brother Arrowbrand, your memory's a bit off because you lost control and went mad, but Xiaoshu remembers it all," Shen Yushu said with a nod.

"All right!" Wei Zhao too reckoned this was most likely the aftereffect of his last loss of control, leaving his memory incomplete.

What had happened before did not spoil everyone's mood for the meal. Gu Pengzhan was especially excited—he had heard from inside the private room as well: the matter had been settled by Wei Zhao with ease! True, it was a little awkward for an elder like him to have a junior like Wei Zhao step in, but from the moment Wei Zhao had arrived at the Gu family villa, Gu Pengzhan had never taken him for an ordinary man!

It was entirely owing to his father's strong recommendation, and to a remark his father had made afterward: if Wan'er was to come back and the Gu family to rise, it all depended on Wei Zhao!

Gu Pengzhan did not know what background or lineage Wei Zhao had, but he believed his father, Chu Sanwa—just as he had believed in that noble benefactor his father had found for him back then, the one who had dealt with the Dark Night Palace's Grand Elder when he first came to trouble him and Wan'er!

The same one who had forced the Grand Elder to give his word and spare him and Gu Mengyao. Had that man never appeared, he and Gu Mengyao would long since have been dead and gone.
