Chapter 2456 — An Unexpected Turn

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

Of course, Wei Zhao would do nothing beyond healing the little turtle—he would not help it grow stronger. For one thing, he and the giant turtle shared no bond of friendship; for another, he had no intention of revealing too much in front of Kang Jinglong.

Healing a spirit beast was nothing remarkable—Wei Zhao was, after all, a "miracle doctor," and Kang Jinglong clearly knew a little about that. What was convenient now was that Wei Zhao happened to be standing in a blind spot outside the cave, so from inside no one could see clearly what was going on out there.

If Kang Jinglong asked later, Wei Zhao could simply put it down to a special burn medicine from Doctor Guan and say no more about it.

At first, the giant turtle had been doubtful that Wei Zhao could heal the little one—after all, the little turtle was nearly cooked; how could it possibly be treated? But as Wei Zhao's inner art began to circulate, a flicker of suspicion passed through the giant turtle's eyes, and then came excitement!

It could sense it—the little turtle's injuries were mending. Though it could not see the wounds, it could feel the little one's life force gradually strengthening, and the fury in the giant turtle's heart slowly subsided.

"Done," Wei Zhao said, setting the little turtle on the ground and addressing the giant one. "If you want revenge, go after that thing from before. If not, then be on your way."

The giant turtle glanced into the cave, hesitated a moment, then gathered up the little one and slowly made its way toward the lake. Only then did Wei Zhao notice that the ice on the lake had been completely shattered into floating slabs—clearly the giant turtle's lair lay at the bottom of the lake.

Watching the giant and little turtles depart, Wei Zhao turned and went back into the cave. "We need to go. Now," he said to Kang Jinglong and Wang Xinyan.

"Ah—right!" Kang Jinglong nodded eagerly, only too glad to agree.

Wang Xinyan was puzzled. Wei Zhao had sent the giant turtle away—so why the hurry? But since it was Wei Zhao who said so, she did not hesitate. She nodded and followed him and Kang Jinglong out of the cave.

"Where are we going?" Once outside, the cold wind struck Kang Jinglong and he felt rather reluctant to leave—yet the thought of that terrifying giant turtle made him shiver all over, and he dared not linger.

"How do you plan to get out of here?" Wei Zhao frowned. "By your original plan, you fell off the cable car—so how are you two supposed to get back?"

"I..." Kang Jinglong looked at Wei Zhao, then at Wang Xinyan, and said with some embarrassment, "I told You Panhu to bring a helicopter to pick us up in two days..."

Wei Zhao was speechless for a moment. "Let's just get out of here first. Move—quickly! I'd guess that giant turtle will come looking for us before long..."

"Didn't we settle it? Why would it go back on its word..." Kang Jinglong asked cautiously.

"Who knows what was in that bottle before. It might have been the giant turtle's prized treasure, and I threw it away. If it remembers, what do you think—will it come looking?" Wei Zhao said.

"Damn! Why did you throw it away? You just had to stir up trouble!" Kang Jinglong said, none too pleased.

Wei Zhao nearly laughed and cried at once. He glared at Kang Jinglong and said irritably, "And who was it that picked it up in the first place?"

Only then did Kang Jinglong remember—had he not brought back the little turtle and that wretched bottle, none of this trouble would have happened. He shut his mouth at once and dared not say another word.

"Call You Panhu. Tell him to send a helicopter for us right now," Wei Zhao said.

"I... don't have a phone. It was stolen..." Kang Jinglong said with a bitter smile.

"Here." Wei Zhao handed him his own phone.
