Chapter 2694 — T011 520521 Special Chapter 1

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

Wei Zhao had been in Songshan City for over two months now, and the injuries Ma Zhu had dealt him had only just healed. Early that morning he arrived at school, only to find that today the place was different from any ordinary day.

Out on the school field, students had actually taken it upon themselves to hang up slogans and banners. Wei Zhao looked closer, and what they said was: "520, Heartbeat Memories — A Confession Before Graduation!"

Wei Zhao blinked in surprise. Just as he was about to find someone to ask, he looked up and saw the Dean of Academic Affairs, Wang Zhifeng, coming his way. Wei Zhao hurriedly waved. "Dean Wang, good morning. Got a moment? I'd like to ask you something."

"Ah, it's Student Wei Zhao. Is something the matter?" Seeing it was Wei Zhao, Wang Zhifeng came over at once and asked.

"What's going on at school? Is there some kind of event?" Wei Zhao asked.

"Oh, today is May twentieth—520, which also means 'I love you.' Every year, when the seniors graduate, the students hold a confession-before-graduation event of their own accord. The tradition has been going on for many years. It started because a game called Heartbeat Memories became wildly popular, and so before graduation the students would confess to the boy or girl they secretly liked." Wang Zhifeng explained. Wei Zhao had transferred in midway, so it was only natural he wouldn't know the school's traditions.

"Oh? Is that so? And the school doesn't interfere?" Wei Zhao was rather surprised. He hadn't expected Wang Zhifeng to leave this student confession event alone.

"This, well, it's a tradition going back a long way, and besides, only graduating students are allowed to take part. Students from other years aren't permitted to join in." Wang Zhifeng smiled. "Student Wei Zhao, I'm not actually an unenlightened man—you should know that by now... It's just that I'm strict with the students for their own good. Now that they're about to graduate, and the college entrance exam is only days away, of course I won't interfere with an event like this. At a time like this, holding such an event won't affect their studies at all—on the contrary, it lets them relax their tense minds and eases the pressure before the exam. Whether a confession succeeds or fails, it's one of the most beautiful memories of a person's life. A green, youthful first love is always unforgettable. I won't play the villain and leave these students with regrets years down the road."

"So that's how it is." Wei Zhao nodded in understanding. Wang Zhifeng was certainly not an unenlightened man—otherwise he couldn't very well have taken a lover. It seemed the students' fear of him was a misunderstanding.

"Student Wei Zhao, you can join in too, you know. To help the event go smoothly, the school will cancel afternoon classes, and tomorrow will be a day off as well." Wang Zhifeng said. "Tomorrow there's another traditional event that the students organize themselves—the couples whose confessions succeeded all go out together. Of course, those who didn't succeed can join too, as long as both sides are willing. The school organizes it all for everyone's benefit, to keep these newly paired-up couples from doing something that catches everyone off guard right before the exam. As the saying goes, better to guide than to block. My duty as Dean of Academic Affairs is to properly guide the students' views on love and their values. Everyone's about to graduate, and there's only so much I can say. All I can guarantee is that before the college entrance exam, everyone will behave themselves a little. Some things can wait—messing up the exam would be a serious matter. And after the exam, they'll be university students. Some universities even permit marriage—so why would I interfere then?"
