Chapter 2736 — Fainted Again

"Fine, I agree!" Wang Xinyan bit her lip, tears sliding down her face despite herself. She felt wronged and stifled. By what right must she marry Kang Jinglong? By what right must she do whatever he said?
Why was she so unlucky? Why did she have to be a sacrifice to the family's interests? Born into this Xiao family that had brought her so little joy or comfort, yet she must bear more pressure and burden than anyone else...
For a moment Wang Xinyan felt dizzy and disoriented, angry and exhausted all at once. Her vision went black, and she collapsed to the floor...
"Xinyan, what's wrong?" Xiao Qinlin was thrown into a panic at the sight of Wang Xinyan fainting.
Xiao Ji and Xiao Ben's expressions changed as well! They did not care whether Wang Xinyan lived or died; what they cared about was the Kang family's support for the Xiao family, bought with Wang Xinyan's marriage! So nothing could be allowed to happen to Wang Xinyan!
Kang Jinglong was stunned too. This Wang Xinyan—could she really not withstand the slightest setback? A few words and she fainted? All he had asked was that she be examined to see if she was a virgin—was that so unbearable? Or did she have something to hide?
"Get her to the hospital at once, and have them check whether she's a virgin while you're at it!" Kang Jinglong said, and at the end he did not neglect to restate his earlier demand.
So Xiao Qinlin hurriedly lifted Wang Xinyan, carried her out to the car outside the villa, and drove straight for Donghai City First Hospital. Kang Jinglong rode in Youpan Hu's car, following behind, and behind them came the cars of Xiao Ji and Xiao Ben.
Donghai City First Hospital had shares held by Wang Xuben and by the Kang family as well. Neither held much, but it was a hospital trusted by both families, so Kang Jinglong was not worried that the hospital might cheat. After all, the hospital was highly reputable, and with the Kang family holding shares, there was no way Wang Xuben could influence the examination results.
After a full physical examination, the conclusion was that Wang Xinyan was not ill—only weak. Her fainting was likely brought on by a fit of anger; she had no disease. As for whether she was a virgin, that was examined as well, and the result was that Wang Xinyan was still a virgin.
That result set Kang Jinglong's mind at ease, and he stopped making a scene. Still, he felt a certain contempt for Wei Zhao: they had been living in the same villa, and she really had only gone to play with Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu—had Wei Zhao truly not succeeded?
It seemed so. The hospital's examination results could not be false!
Only, Wang Xinyan's sudden collapse left Kang Jinglong somewhat worried—who knew when she would wake? He decided that once she did, he would apologize to her. After all, she had been examined and was still a virgin; he really had wronged her before!
No matter how close she was to Wei Zhao at school, she had not had any substantive relations with him. This made Kang Jinglong feel he still had a very good chance. At least Wang Xinyan did not dare openly defy the engagement. In that case, if he were gentler with her, might she not fall into his arms?
