"Understood." Hearing his uncle say this, the Earth Tyrant did not press further, but changed the subject: "Uncle, there is one more important matter I must report to you!"
"Oh? What else is there?" Tu Qingsong asked.
"The earth-attribute essence liquid that Wei Zhao demanded first—it is not meant for an earth-attribute cultivator who has suffered qi deviation, but for... an earth-attribute legacy inheritor!" As he spoke, the Earth Tyrant recounted to Tu Qingsong everything he had previously discussed with Wei Zhao.
"An earth-attribute legacy inheritor?" Tu Qingsong's pupils contracted sharply, and his breathing turned rapid! The Earth Tyrant had no idea what it meant for an earth-attribute legacy inheritor to be at Wei Zhao's side, but Tu Qingsong immediately thought back to the events of that year!
That earth-attribute legacy inheritor was very likely his own daughter, Tu Ranran, who had been taken away by those two men back then! And Wei Zhao was the grandson of Lin Dongfang, one of those two. So if his daughter was with him, as a friend, it all made sense!
In that year, Tu Ranran had been born by special means, because the bloodline of the Yellow Earth High Sect never produced daughters—a special method was required. Yet although Tu Ranran was born safely, from childhood she was frail and sickly. The sect's mental cultivation formulas and oral instructions were all designed for male cultivators; female inheritors could only begin cultivating after receiving the legacy. So to cultivate at all, Tu Ranran had to endure until the minimum age at which she could receive the legacy of insight, and then, after the legacy, break through to the Heaven Rank before the age of twenty in order to survive unharmed!
Once the legacy was successfully received, there would be no level barriers to advancement, and breaking through to the Heaven Rank would not be too difficult. But the crux was that Tu Ranran could no longer hold on! She would not last until the age for receiving the legacy of insight!
Tu Qingsong and his father, Tu Wanghai, had sought physicians everywhere for this matter, all to no avail!
Just as they were nearing despair, a traveling merchant who plied the routes between the Central Plains, the Western Regions, and the Miao lands brought the Yellow Earth High Sect good news! In the Miao lands there was a divine physician named Lin Dongfang, whose medical skill was unfathomably profound. Tu Wanghai could go and try!
Tu Wanghai was overjoyed and at once set out with Tu Ranran, traveling with the traveling merchant to the Miao lands.
But this divine physician Lin Dongfang had no fixed abode, and the traveling merchant did not know his exact residence either; they could only try their luck at the market.
From time to time, Lin Dongfang would go to the market to hold consultations and treat patients from the surrounding villages, so Tu Wanghai did indeed manage to find him!
Lin Dongfang held consultations at the market and naturally received all manner of patients. Although he saw that Tu Wanghai was no ordinary man, he still followed the rules and examined Tu Ranran's condition. After the examination, however, Lin Dongfang gave a puzzled "Hm?"
Seeing Lin Dongfang's expression, Tu Wanghai hastily asked, "Doctor, tell me—can my granddaughter be saved?"
"Her body is abnormally weak, devoid of vitality. As for the specific problem, I cannot tell either, but if she stays with me, there is no problem in keeping her alive until she is fifteen," Lin Dongfang said after a moment's deliberation.
"Stay with you?" Tu Wanghai was slightly taken aback, then understood Lin Dongfang's meaning: "Doctor, you mean my granddaughter must live at your side for you to treat her?"
