Wang Xinyan blushed faintly and turned to look at Wei Zhao, but there was a hint of anticipation in her eyes. Perhaps she, too, wanted to go out with Wei Zhao?
"Let me see how my schedule looks," Wei Zhao said. Though Xu Shilan might be out of danger for the time being, the orphanage affair still kept him wary. Who knew whether Feng Tianhu might go mad again and send someone after Xu Shilan or the old director?
"All right. If you decide to come, give me a call," Bai Weituo said. He knew Wei Zhao was busy and did not press the matter.
Wei Zhao took his leave of Bai Weituo and returned to the villa with Wang Xinyan. Standing at the familiar gate, Wang Xinyan grew a little sheepish. She knew she would certainly see Xiaoshu the moment she walked in—but when Xiaoshu asked why she had come back, what was she supposed to say?
That she had missed Wei Zhao, that she wanted to sleep with Wei Zhao? That was far too embarrassing. Wang Xinyan could not bring herself to say it.
"Oh, Sister Xinyan, you're back!" Shen Yushu came running out of the villa, all excitement—whether she had spotted Wang Xinyan from inside or heard the car in the courtyard, one could not tell.
Wang Xinyan had been feeling awkward and embarrassed, but Shen Yushu's words broke the ice and gave her the sudden feeling of coming home.
"Xiaoshu, I'm so glad to see you... I wasn't feeling well for a while and just never came back... I only learned today that Yaoyao had already left. I wasn't even able to see her off, and I feel rather bad about it." Wang Xinyan sighed and spoke softly. The last time she had come, Gu Mengyao had still been here.
"There's nothing to be done about it. Everyone has their own mission. Who knows, maybe one day Xiaoshu will leave too, and then Brother Arrow will be left in Sister Xinyan's care," Shen Yushu said with a smile.
Because Shen Yushu had said it with a smile, Wang Xinyan never imagined she was telling the truth. She took it as a joke at her expense and flushed. "Xiaoshu, don't tease me..."
Shen Yushu only smiled and said nothing. Wang Xinyan felt that the Shen Yushu before her seemed somehow different from before, though she could not put her finger on just what had changed. Perhaps it was because Gu Mengyao had left, and Xiaoshu was a little lonely?
