Chapter 3277 — Both Sides Wounded

The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 2

The car was one Wei Zhao had stolen earlier—a local street racer's vehicle, likely stolen goods to begin with, which was why the racers had not come looking for it after it went missing. Wei Zhao had left it parked not far from the bathhouse.

Wei Zhao offered no explanation; he simply took Xu Shilan and Cheng Yiyi and headed for the airport in the city nearest the small town.

At noon, a large passenger jet lifted off, bound for the city closest to X Island.

In the first-class cabin, Wei Zhao had booked four seats: one row for himself, one for Xu Shilan and Cheng Yiyi, the two rows facing each other so the three of them could talk easily.

"Wei Zhao, what happened?" Cheng Yiyi asked softly.

"Nothing. It's all settled." Wei Zhao clearly did not intend to tell Cheng Yiyi and Xu Shilan what had happened in Ruileida Town, lest they worry needlessly.

So Cheng Yiyi asked no more and turned to chat with Xu Shilan instead.

When the plane landed in the city nearest X Island, the three of them disembarked and boarded the connecting flight to X Island that Yang Qiqi had arranged at the airport. Only then did they breathe easy.

Only now were they truly safe! Yet Wei Zhao was somewhat puzzled: with such a huge incident at the Conch Group, had they really not sent anyone to search for him on a large scale? They need only pull up the surveillance footage to determine that the earlier "Yi Ling" was a suspicious character, and once that was matched against He Dantou, his identity would practically leap out. With the resources of the Red Conch and the Overseas Cultivators' Association, a large-scale search of the area was well within their reach—so why had no one intercepted him along the way?

What Wei Zhao did not know was that the general manager and He Dantou had by now wounded each other grievously, both suffering severe internal injuries! Even so, the general manager had not dared to actually kill He Dantou; he had merely had the Overseas Cultivators' Association send men to take He Dantou away.

After all, He Dantou's death would have meant a blood feud, but as things stood they had merely been badly injured, and neither had come off well, so the matter could be considered closed. Once their injuries healed and tempers cooled, they could sit down again and negotiate over who was in the right and who in the wrong.

For the time being, though, both were gravely wounded and had no chance to negotiate. Their superiors said nothing, and their subordinates naturally could not act rashly, so the whole affair was left hanging—which let Wei Zhao slip through a gaping hole!

In fact, after entering the Songshan Orphanage's account number, Wei Zhao had rather regretted it. For one thing, whether or not the transfer went through, if He Dantou discovered it, Wei Zhao would likely still be in Ruileida Town at the time, and the Overseas Cultivators' Association and the Red Conch would join forces to hunt him down!

For another, with the Songshan Orphanage's account number, Wei Zhao feared He Dantou and the general manager might go to Songshan City to take revenge on Yu Xiaoke. But on reflection, that second possibility seemed less likely—after all, if the Red Conch wanted to operate domestically, it had to go through Brother Dafeng, and Brother Dafeng was Wei Zhao's man, so there was little to fear.
