Chapter 3352 — Trapped by the Mechanism

Wei Zhao shoved the car door open and leaped out. Seizing the moment of Tolu's astonishment, he circulated the mnemonic of his heart method and fiercely unleashed the eleventh stance of the Frenzied Fire Eight-Trigram Palm! When he had attacked Old Master Gu before, the eleventh stance had carried no attack boost from the Essence Necklace; now, with that boost, the eleventh stance of the Frenzied Fire Eight-Trigram Palm was naturally a cut above its former power!
"Boom!"
Tolu was sent flying outright by Wei Zhao's blow. It was not that Tolu had failed to guard himself—in truth, he was utterly confident in his own strength, certain he could kill Wei Zhao with a single punch.
If a master at the grand-completion peak of the late Heaven rank could not slay a Heaven-rank mid-stage expert with one punch, he might as well give up the trade! Such was the common sense of it, of course—but Wei Zhao could not be measured by common sense.
Naturally, Tolu could never have guessed that Wei Zhao carried the defensive boost of the Essence Necklace and the swift healing of the third layer of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art. Still less could he have guessed that Yu Dake would suddenly drive.
And that brief instant of astonishment wrought irreparable harm. Caught off guard, Tolu was struck by Wei Zhao. It did not cost Tolu his life, but his meridians were shattered by the blow, and he suffered grave internal injuries.
A flash of incredulous shock and venomous hatred passed through Tolu's eyes. He had not expected to lose his bait along with the fish—he had meant to curry favor with Kang Jingming by killing Wei Zhao in exchange for a chance to heal his father, yet who could have foreseen that Wei Zhao would not be slain, and that he himself would instead be crippled by Wei Zhao, reduced to a wreck of a man just like his father!
This was a loss that far outweighed any gain. And if Wei Zhao were to flee now, Tolu would truly have lost his wife and his soldiers both, gaining not a single thing! With Wei Zhao not left behind, Tolu did not believe Kang Jingming would still honor his promise. So Tolu had no choice but to activate the Paoli clan's mechanism for repelling foreign invaders!
An ancient clan might well leave behind some last resort for defending against outside invasion, and the Paoli clan was precisely such a case. Before the gate of the Paoli clan's city lay a trap mechanism; once activated, it could plunge anyone standing above it instantly into the pit.
And Tolu was the son of Toluyue—a direct descendant of the Paoli clan—so he naturally knew how to trigger this mechanism! He acted on the instant and activated it directly. By then Wei Zhao had already dashed back into the car, ready to have Yu Dake drive them out of there! (To be continued)
