"It's good that Miss Lan can understand!" Elder Xuan Chen nodded. "Rest assured, we will certainly eliminate this Wei Zhao!"
"Very well. Since it's confirmed that Wei Zhao and his people did it, I'll go back and rest for now." Miss Lan nodded and took her leave.
At that moment, only Elder Xuan Chen and Kang Jingming remained in the room.
"Father-in-law, this time we must eliminate Wei Zhao. If we don't, he will surely become a disaster for us!" Kang Jingming said. "Right now he's already a peak mid-Heaven-rank expert. If he keeps growing, we won't stand a chance against him!"
"Quite right!" Elder Xuan Chen nodded, steeling his resolve. "Here's what we'll do: tomorrow you fire up the furnace and refine pills—refine the Limit Qi-Gathering Pills. We must poison Wei Zhao to death quickly. Any further delay and it will be too late!"
"Understood, I'll fire up the furnace tomorrow!" Kang Jingming had actually been thinking the same thing. Wei Zhao's cultivation level was rising higher and higher; at this rate, if Wei Zhao truly reached Heaven-rank Great Perfection, the Qi-Gathering Pills would have no effect on him at all—and by then, even if they refined the pills and offered them to him, he likely wouldn't take them.
So this matter had to be settled as soon as possible. Otherwise, the dish would go cold.
"Ah, despicable as this trick may be, it must be done. Even if the White Leader reprimands us, it must be done!" Elder Xuan Chen had finally made up his mind. Previously, out of consideration for the White Leader's side and the matter of cultivating a wood-element inheritor, they had had to preserve some semblance of face—but now, Wei Zhao had reached the point where he simply had to be eliminated!
"Understood, Father-in-law. I'll set aside everything else on hand and devote myself to refining the pills for the time being!" Kang Jingming nodded. He, too, had hardened his heart—he must refine the pills and poison Wei Zhao to death!
"On my end, I'll have a word with the White Leader, sound out his stance, and bring up the matter of the Heaven-rank trial along the way," Elder Xuan Chen said. "By the normal rules, he still counts as the Five Luminaries Sect's sect master. I should give him some face and let him arrange for his disciples to take part in the trial."
"Wei Zhao?!" Kang Jingming was slightly taken aback. "Wei Zhao is coming to the trial too? Then how do we deal with him? Second Senior Brother has fallen, and the three Zhao family experts are finished as well. Only the Silkworm-Transformation Young Sect Master is left—he's no match for Wei Zhao either, is he?"
"Not Wei Zhao. The White Leader's quota can only go to Guan Xin. Wei Zhao won't be able to come—if I don't agree, he can't take part in the trial," Elder Xuan Chen said flatly. "Since we're going to poison him with pills, why let him come to the trial at all? To cause trouble? With a man like that, by all means keep him away—he has ties to several inheritors, and I fear trouble will come of it!"
"Mm, that's good! Then I can set my mind at ease and go out for some training as well." Kang Jingming breathed a sigh of relief. Previously, what he had most looked forward to was finishing off Wei Zhao during the Heaven-rank trial! But now, what he feared most was Wei Zhao taking part in the trial!
These were two utterly different states of mind!
Having sent Kang Jingming back to prepare for the pill refinement, Elder Xuan Chen dialed the White Leader's number!
