"No, he didn't. Wei Zhao probably really believes I fell for him when he rescued me in Southeast Asia. After all, lots of his girlfriends fell for him after he saved them from danger—he probably thinks I'm the same," He Meiyue said. "And he may have held back out of consideration for his friendship with Bai Weituo. When I woke up and went out to look, I found everyone acting perfectly normal..."
"Mm, good. Then you keep working undercover. I don't blame you for this either! True, you're not as pretty as the likes of Wang Xinyan—but that's nothing to fret over." Old Ancestor Xuanchen was a man who did great things; since it couldn't be helped, he didn't keep brooding over such trivialities.
"Understood!" He Meiyue said hurriedly.
And so the matter passed, for the time being. No one brought up again the things that made He Meiyue uncomfortable—after all, she was a victim too.
Armed with the letter of introduction Bai Lingtou had written, Wei Zhao began preparing for the Heaven Rank trial. And with Wei Zhao's current abilities and strength, he was more than capable of supporting Han Jingyi's alchemy!
So, before the Heaven Rank trial officially began, Wei Zhao sought out Han Jingyi, intending to refine a batch of Qi-Gathering Pills with her. Over this period, Wei Zhao had once again contacted the several ancient clans he knew and scoured up a great haul of Qi-Gathering Pill ingredients.
Granted, some ancient sects did not have good relations with Wei Zhao and were quite displeased by his bandit-like behavior, yet they dared not speak their anger aloud! The Dongfang family, for instance!
"Old Master Dongfang Badao? This is Wei Zhao!" Wei Zhao came straight to the point. "I've just recently advanced to peak late Heaven Rank strength and am now pushing for Great Perfection. Your family should have ingredients for refining Qi-Gathering Pills, right? Send me some so I can make my push for Great Perfection! Right then—send someone to deliver them to me. Don't make me come fetch them myself!"
From start to finish, Dongfang Badao never got a word in before the call was hung up. He was stifled with resentment, but truly had no recourse! They were both peak late Heaven Rank fighters, both nearing Great Perfection, yet Wei Zhao's strength was simply greater than his!
Perhaps even if he himself broke through to Great Perfection after participating in the Heaven Rank trial in a few days, he still wouldn't be a match for the current Wei Zhao. Hadn't word already spread through the ancient circles? Wei Zhao could **instantly kill a peak late Heaven Rank Great Perfection expert**—unless several Great Perfection experts joined forces to hunt Wei Zhao down, there was simply no dealing with him!
But where would one find so many Great Perfection experts to surround Wei Zhao? A completely unrealistic notion—even if he wanted it, the others might not agree! Only someone with the pull of Old Ancestor Xuanchen, the initiator of the Cloud Rank Island plan, had the standing to do such a thing!
So Dongfang Badao had the family's Qi-Gathering Pill ingredients brought out. There weren't many—just two portions—and he sent someone to deliver them to Wei Zhao!
